(Finished June 30th, 2018) themusicaddict's Top 106 Greatest 80's Era Band Addendum: Night Ranger Part 2: Setlist

Hello,

I have the opportunity to see Night Ranger in concert tonight and I'm looking forward to seeing them. These are the songs played at a recent concert, of course I'll have a blog coming following tonight's concert. Although they seem to mostly be playing a greatest hits, including some of the songs Jack Blades recorded with Damn Yankees. Those songs will be a nice addition to an already great setlist. It's too bad they won't be sneaking in a couple of their new songs, because they do have some good new songs. But at least I'll be able to sing along to all of their songs.

This seems to be the only new song they play, it's from 2017's "Don't Let Up".
1) "Somehow Someway":

2) "Four In The Morning":

3) "Sing Me Away":

4) "(You Can) Still Rock In America":

(Finished June 25th, 2018) The Best Songs of Michael Jackson's "Invinicible":

Hello,

On October 30th, 2001 Michael Jackson's CD "Invincible" was released. This was his last CD of original music that he released before his too early death. In fact he was closer to his death at that point than he was his last CD release of original music, 1991's "Dangerous".

I don't really remember paying attention to "Invincible" when it came out and I couldn't tell you a song that was on it. But the other day I decided to start listening to this CD. The first couple of songs I liked quite a bit, so I decided to listen to the whole CD. And you know what, it has several good songs on it. It's a lot better CD than I would have ever thought. Here are the best songs on Jackson's "Invincible".

I'll be blogging about Michael Jackson again soon when I get to his series of countdown blogs as a greatest 80's era musician.

"Don't Walk Away":

"Privacy":

"You Rock My World":

"Whatever Happens":

"Unbreakable":

"Threatened":

My favorite song on the CD. "2000 Watts":

"Cry":

(Finished October 8th, 2019) themusicaddict's Top 106 Greatest 80's Era Band Addendum: Night Ranger

Hello,

In my attempt to finish all my unfinished blogs I'm working more on this blog on October 8th, 2019.

I've been focusing on finishing the Top 106 Greatest 80's Era Bands. I originally started out with 106 bands, but as I've went along I've remembered other bands that might deserve to be on my rankings. Once I finish this series of countdown blogs, I then am going to finalize those rankings and then publish a second and final countdown of probably about 120 bands.

The next band up is Night Ranger, they aren't in the original rankings. I'm going to write a series of countdown blogs for them for when I do the final rankings of 80's bands. Also I get to go see Night Ranger in a couple of weeks, the first time I've ever seen them. I'm excited!!!!

And that concert was amazing by the way, I was amazed how great Night Ranger is still in concert. One of the best concerts I've been to the last few years.

This blog will evolve into a countdown blog, but first these are best songs from their first CD, "Dawn Patrol" and a few other great songs.

1) "Don't Tell Me You Love Me":

2) "Sing Me Away":

3) "At Night She Sleeps":

4) "Call My Name":

(Finished June 17th, 2018) A Rabbit Hole Blog: Where Will We End?

Hello,

Starting with Taylor Swift's "Sparks Fly", I'm going to jump in the rabbit hole and see where it ends. I'll post the next video that plays and so on and so on.

Taylor Swift "Sparks Fly":

Taylor Swift "Picture To Burn":

Miss Swift again "Fifteen":

Then after 4 or 5 more Taylor Swift songs it led to this interesting video and no I didn't listen to all 80 minutes of it:

Coldplay "Adventure Of A Lifetime":

Piano Covers, another 80 minutes of mostly instrumental covers:

This idea is starting to suck, now there's 80 minute of Kenny G's best songs. The only way anything by Kenny G would appear on this blog:

After about the third Kenny G video I had to reset this blog. I picked Ozzy's "Crazy Train":

Ozzy "Mr. Crowley":

From one Sabbath singer to another Sabbath singer, on the Sabbath nonetheless!!
Heaven and Hell "Die Young":

Back To Ozzy for "Perry Mason":

Ozzy "No More Tears":

Ozzy and Lita Ford "Close My Eyes Forever":

This is the bottom of the rabbit hole. The greatest band of all-time, "Kashmir":

(Finished June 17th, 2018) The Effective Soundtrack of "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past":

Hello,

"Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" is the 2009 movie that stars Matthew McConaughey, the lovely Jennifer Garner, Michael Douglas, Breckin Meyer and Lacy Chabert. It also stars a young Emma Stone, not sure how they made such a beautiful woman to look so gawky. McConaughey plays a lothario that obviously puts on a show of being a sexual braggadocio in order to protect himself from the one thing that truly scares him, love. A soundtrack should add poignance to scenes and this movie that does that expertly. (I hate to use the word poignance as it sounds, but in this case it fits perfectly. These songs also tracks well with the time I was growing up. While the movie was only good, the way the music was used was perfect.

(Thanks to https://reelsoundtrack.wordpress.com/2009/05/02/ghosts-of-girlfriends-past-songs/ for the list of songs for this blog.)

I've left the list of the songs and some of the scene details from the reelsoundtrack.wordpress.com blog below. For my blog I'm posting the best songs from that movie. It has a lot of great songs that I haven't thought about for awhile.

The trailer:

reelsoundtrack.com states this is the song in the trailer, this is also a great song. The Last Goodnight "Pictures of You":

Gavin Rossdale and All Too Much "Hush":

KC & The Sunshine Band "Get Down Tonight":

Poison "Nothin' But A Good Time":

Men Without Hats "The Safety Dance":

This song was used very effectively twice in the movie and what a great song it is. REO Speedwagon's "Keep On Lovin' You":

Kool & The Gang "Ladies Night":

Joan Jett "I Hate Myself For Loving You":

Sneaker Pimps "6 Underground":

Macy Gray "I Try":

Cyndi Lauper "Time After Time":

(Finished June 13th, 2018) An Intro To RidingEasy Records

Hello,

A couple of days ago I had the day off and so I went to one of my favorite places, Graywhale. It's a store that sells mostly music, although they do sell other pop culture artifacts as well. Graywhale is like an old school record store. Not only they do carry the newest and hottest stuff, but they also know their music.

I had the privilege of talking to someone who knew her stuff and she introduced me to a record label called RidingEasy records. She called this some old school rock music, but also feels modern. They have a YouTube channel and I'm going to post a select number of songs by bands on the RidingEasy label. I can't guarantee the quality of the below music as of now, this is the first time I'm listening to these songs as well. This might work out to be a great idea or not.

The person I talked to was really high on the bands Slow Season, the Brown Acid Comps and Svvamp (not a misspelling and she said she thinks it's pronounced swamp). I'm going to start with Svvamp and Slow Season.

This has more of a bluesy feel than some of the other RidingEasy bands, Svvamp.

"Sunshine Street":

This is Svvamp's debut CD "Svvamp":

Slow Season's 2014 CD "Mountains":

I believe there have been 6 of these so-called Brown Acid compilations. What are Brown Acid compilations? This is from the the RidingEasy website: "Lance Barresi, co-owner of L.A./Chicago retailer Permanent Records has shown incredible persistence in tracking down a stellar collection of rare singles from the 60s and 70s for the growing compilation series. Partnered with Daniel Hall of RidingEasy Records, the two have assembled a selection of songs that’s hard to believe have remained unheard for so long."

I'm These are several different bands on one compilation CD, mostly extremely obscure bands. This is "The First Trip". A particular favorite song of mine on this compilation is track 3. The band is named Tour and the song is "One of The Bad Guys". On Josefus' "Hard Luck" does the singer sound like John Fogerty to anyone else?

The Death Wheelers "I Tread On Your Grave":

Monolord "Empress Rising":

(Finished October 4th, 2018) Sixx A.M.'s Excellent CD "The Heroin Diaries"

Hello,

"The Heroin Diaries" is both a book and a CD, mostly written by Motley Crue bassist, Nikki Sixx. He recorded the CD with his band Sixx A.M. Both are about his battle with heroin in 1987 and are gritty looks into the life of a heroin addict. The book "The Heroin Diaries" isn't a graphic novel, but it looks much like a graphic novel. And later a graphic novel was written. Eventually Sixx was able to kick the heroin habit and it seems like he has been able to remain clean the last 30 years. Both the book and the CD are very good and I would suggest you look into both.

The other members of Sixx A.M. were when this was recorded was James Michael and DJ Ashba. I first discovered this CD when the ten year anniversary was released in 2017.

1) "X-Mas In Hell":

2) "Van Nuys":
