(Finished June 30th, 2019) Obscure & Great Songs of the 80s, Part 4: 30-12

Hello,

These are a selection of some of the more obscure songs of the 80s, many of these are great songs. For guidance I'm using Logo's "The 100 Greatest Lost Hits of the 80's!" These songs range anywhere from songs I know very well and love- looking at you "Whirly Girl"- to songs I haven't even heard of ever. I will be focusing on the songs that are both obscure to me and that are great songs. The number is where Logo ranks that song.

30) Wax "Right Between The Eyes":

29) Quarterflash "Take Me To Heart";

26) Barbra Striesand "Left In The Dark":

25) Toni Basil "Over My Head":

22) Donald Fagen "IGY (What A Beautiful World)":

20) Wild Blue "Fire With Fire":

18) Romeo Void "A Girl In Trouble":

16) Laura Branigan "The Lucky One":

13) Tina Turner "One of the Living":

There were two songs listed at #12, probably because both ladies used to be part of Abba.

12) Agnetha "Can't Shake Loose":

Agreed the above song is a "lost" song as I had never heard of it. But this Frida song is a classic and not even close to being "lost". 12) Frida "I Know There's Something Going On":

Hello,

As I say a lot there are a lot of great songs out there. You just have to know where to look. Look in the right places and you will find plenty of great songs. A lot of the most popular songs that are out now aren't songs that I'm much interested in. However I wanted to find the good songs. I love music, sort of meh on hip hop but I do love rock and roll. These songs do tend to be mostly rock songs.

(Started June 25th, 2019) The Musical Legacy of Michael Jackson

Hello,

Ten years ago Michael Jackson died unexpectedly as he was preparing to go on tour. He left behind a troublesome legacy, but also some of the greatest songs of all-time. I know that Michael Jackson left behind that troublesome legacy. Musically and undeniably he's a genius. Unfortunately he was also a child molester, I don't think anyone would deny that now. Not even his biggest fan. Although I do have complicated feelings towards the King of Pop I still love his music. Should I be ashamed of that or myself for that, I honestly don't know. With some trepidation here are the best of Michael Jackson- although in no particular order.

I remember how magic this was watching it on TV, especially when he broke out the moonwalk.

(Started June 19th, 2019) Guns N' Roses Setlist in Honolulu on December 8th, 2018, Part 3

Hello,

24) "Black Hole Sun":

This song is a live G N' R staple and it's always good to hear it. Sometimes the performance is genius, but sometimes it's a sloppy mess. 25) "Knockin' On Heaven's Door":

26) "Nightrain":

Encore:

27) "Patience":
28) "Madagascar":
29) "Don't Cry":
30) "The Seeker":
31) "Paradise City":

Watching these live videos of more recent Guns N' Roses show I've been wondering when did Axl Rose lose his voice. This is Axl singing with AC/DC in September 2016:

This is Axl singing "Paradise City" in late 2017 and not singing it well, what has happened to his voice?

This is Axl singing "Paradise City" September 7th, 2018. Again he doesn't sound very good here, maybe a bit better? Maybe?

According to setlist.fm this is Guns N' Roses most recent performance. Although the music makes it hard to tell it does seem he sounds a bit better.

This is another performance in Honolulu "Welcome To The Jungle":

Hello,

I found out today that one of the greatest bands of all-time is on their way to Salt Lake City. That would be the reunited Guns N' Roses, they'll be in Salt Lake on October 29th. I'm going with two different versions of each song for these blogs. It's called the Not In This Lifetime Tour for good reason. Because who in their right mind ever thought that Axl, Slash and Duff would all be on the stage together? That would be no one. At almost $200 a ticket, including all the greedy fees, I hope Axl loses some weight and sounds better than some of the clips I've heard from him since the start of this tour in 2016.

12) "You Could Be Mine":

13) "Attitude":

14) "Civil War":

15) "Yesterdays":

Age has not been nice to his voice. 16) "Coma":

17) Slash Guitar Solo
18) "Speak Softly Love (Love Theme From The Godfather)":
19) "Sweet Child O' Mine":
20) "Wichita Lineman":
21) "Used To Love Her":
22) "Wish You Were Here":
23) "November Rain":
