(Finished February 22nd, 2025) Part 3 of The Top 200 Rock Songs of the 90s: Songs 166-148
Hello,
This is the most bizarre rock countdown I've ever seen. It has several songs by Maria McKee (who?), The Allman Brothers (they were okay in the 70s) and Saraya (Who? Part 2). I would much more prefer my Top 200 90s rock countdown, but this one is easier to work with in this context. If you want to look at the website where this countdown resides: https://www.classicrockhistory.com/top-200-rock-songs-of-the-90s/
It seems I published an older countdown? I'm not sure, but the list that came from the current Classic Rock History doesn't match up with what I have. I have no idea what I was doing. I'm going to keep the previous blogs as is and start all over with song #200.
200-183, 182-167, 166-148, 147-131, 130-114, 113-97, 96-80, 79-63, 62-46, 45-28, 27-15, 14-1
166) Donald Fagen "Tomorrow's Girls":
165) Peter Gabriel "Big Time":
164) Beth Hart "Spiders In My Bed":
163) Van Morrison "Real Real Gone":
162) Allman Brothers Band "Seven Turns":
161) Bob Seger "Lock and Load":
160) Billy Joel "All About Soul":
159) ZZ Top "Pincushion":
158) Rage Against The Machine "Killing In The Name":
157) Aerosmith "Falling In Love (Is Hard On The Knees)":
A song I haven't ever heard of until seeing this countdown. 156) Joan Jett and the Blackhearts "Backlash":
155) Blondie "Maria":
154) The Dave Matthews Band "What Would You Say":
153) Coverdale/Page "Pride and Joy":
152) Joe Satriani "Summer Song":
151) AC/DC "Thunderstruck":
150) Smashing Pumpkins "Today":
Judas Priest has some great songs, but this isn't one of them. This song should not be on this list. 149) Judas Priest "Painkiller":
Is Hootie and the Blowfish the worst band ever? No, because there's Insane Clown Posse to consider. 148) Hootie and the Blowfish "Let Her Cry":

Hello,
Let's go back to the 40s and 50s, two or three of the best songs from each year of that decade. Billboard started keeping track of this in 1946, I went back to that year.
I only knew two songs from this year. I put one of the songs I was familiar with and the number one song of that year. 1946) Johnny Mercer and The Pied Pipers "Personality":
2) Perry Como "Prisoner of Love":
1947) Francis Craig "Near You":
4) King Cole Trio "(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons":
1948) Spike Jones "William Tell Overture":
6) Kay Kyser with Gloria Wood "Woody Woodpecker":
1949) Vaughn Monroe "Riders In The Sky":
8) Perry Como "Some Enchanted Evening":
9) Dinah Shore "Buttons and Bows":
So many of the 30 songs on this list were later remade by other musicians. It's the later versions of those songs that we remember. 1950) Red Foley "Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy":
11) Patti Page "Tennessee Waltz":
1951) The Four Aces "It's No Sin":
13) Nat King Cole with Les Baxter "Too Young":
1952) Jo Stafford with Paul Weston "You Belong To Me":
