(Started August 31st, 2021) Part 1 of The Best of Halsey

Hello,

Halsey is a hella talented singer, who just released her fourth CD. It's titled "If I Can't Find Love, I Want Power". The cover features Halsey on a "Game of Thrones" like throne, prominently exposing one breast, with a baby on her lap. I'm guessing the baby is her newly born child. Halsey is an incredibly talented musician and has made some of the most iconic songs of the last several years. I had to use Billboard's list as my foundation as I don't know any songs from her new CD or "Hopeless Fountain Kingdom".

The foundation of this list comes from Billboard's list of Halsey's Top 20 songs. You can find it here:

https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/8513267/halsey-best-songs-top-20

(Finished August 29th, 2021) Part 2 of Songs Rocking My iPod

Hello,

Hearing the amazing song and harmonies of The Highwomen's "The Highwomen" song I felt motivated to post another one of these blogs. These are songs that really move me when listening to my iPod. Songs that make me want to dance (poorly), sing and cause me to think. Songs that giving me the boost to go to the mental grind of work.
18) JOANovARC "Slipping Away":

Not even 10,000 views for this song? That's a shame. This whole JOANovARC CD is great. Check it out. This is one of the many NWOCR bands I've been listening to and learning their music. 19) JOANovARC "Jane":

20) Fergie featuring Goon Rock and  Q-Tip "A Little Party Never Killed No One (All We Got)":

21) Dazz Band "Let It Whip":

22) Modest Mouse "Dashboard":

23) Alabama "Old Flame":

I've been listening to a lot of country music lately which explains all of the country songs on this blog.  24) Carly Pearce "You Kissed Me First":

Songs that make me want to dance (poorly), sing and cause me to think. Songs that giving me the boost to go to the mental grind of work.

Although neither on of these Stones songs are deep cuts I have been digging into the Stones deep cuts of late. 1) The Rolling Stones "Shattered":

2) The Rolling Stones "Start Me Up":

3) The Highwomen "Highwomen":

4) The Damn Truth "Lonely":

5) The Damn Truth "Full On You":

6) Enigma "Sadeness":

7) Erasure "Just My Imagination":

8) ONJ "Twist of Fate":

One of the many great Bond songs, although many of the more recent Bonds songs aren't so good.
9) Shirley Bassey "Diamonds Are Forever":

This band opened for Bob Seger a couple of years ago in Salt Lake, I had never heard of them before that night, but I really liked their songs. This is one of my favorite of their songs. 10) The Wild Feathers "Quittin Time":

11) Little Big Town "Wine, Beer, Whiskey":

12) Little Big Town "Boondocks":

13) Lauren Daigle "You Say":

Her CD "Sour" isn't the greatest CD ever. The topic, teenage heartbreak, is pretty much the same in every song. However I really love "Driver's License" and this great song. 14) Olivia Rodrigo "Brutal":

Bonus video: This is a pretty cool mash up of "Misery Business" and "Good 4 U":

15) Paramore "Misery Business":

16) Tequila Mockingbird "Never Go Home":

Do you know and can you sing all the words to that slightly tricky chorus? 17) John Michael Montgomery "Be My Baby Tonight":

(Finished August 24th, 2021) Part 1 of Another Rock Legend Dies, R.I.P. Charlie Watts

Hello,

Legendary Rolling Stones drummer, Charlie Watts, died today at the age of 80. Originally he was going to go tour with the Stones on their upcoming tour, until he couldn't due to a medical condition. He had been with the Rolling Stones since 1963. I wouldn't consider myself a huge Stones fan, although I love a lot of their songs.  131 of 147 Rolling Stones songs on my iTunes I've given 4 or 5 stars. My favorite Stones song by far is "Gimme Shelter". The following four articles highlight the most Charlie Watts centric Stones classics.

These songs are suggested by this website: https://lenexnews.com/charlie-watts-best-songs-with-rolling-stones-revealed-drumming-genius/

1) "Get Off My Cloud":

Charlie looks so bored in so many of these videos. 2) "Shake Your Hips":

3) "Beast of Burden":

4) "Slave":

5) "Sad Sad Sad":

(Finished August 23rd, 2021) Part 1 of Non-Traditional Love Songs

Hello,

My boss always listens to the best music and today he was listening to 70s rock and The Eagles "Take It Easy" came on. And I heard a line in a different way than I had before. It's this line I gotta know if your sweet love Is gonna save me". I just thought that was an incredibly beautiful line in a song that we all wouldn't consider it a love song. I've also noticed that many 70s rock songs were non-traditional love songs.

 1) Fountains of Wayne "Hey Julie":

2) The Eagles "Take It Easy":

3) Charli XCX "Boom Clap":

4) Jack White "Love Is Blindness":

I had forgotten how good this song is. 5) Pete Townsend "Let My Love Open The Door":

They didn't have a "traditional" relationship, so why would their love story be traditional? 6) John Lennon "Woman":

A powerful love song to a teacher. 7) Lulu "To Sir With Love":

8) John Lennon "Just Like (Starting Over)":

One of the most beautiful non-traditional love songs ever. 9) Rufus Wainwright "Hallelujah":

I'd heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

10) Beyonce "Crazy In Love":

A super realistic, no holds barred love song. 11) John Legend "All of Me":

12) Sinead O'Connor "Nothing Compares 2 U":

13) George Ezra "Budapest":

A love song to a city to save a relationship with the woman he loves. 14) Chris Cagle "Laredo":

Although the girl at the heart of this dies the singer/narrator still loves her very much. 15) Sufjan Stevens "Casimir Pulaski Day":

He loves/ desires her, but he's not going to wait forever. 16) Bob Marley and The Wailers "Waiting In Vain":

17) Mumford & Sons "I Will Wait":
