(Finished September 29th, 2020) The Best, Most Interesting and Oddball First Songs Over The Years, Part 2

Hello,

Rolling Stone recently released their Top 100 debut singles of all-time. I worked through their list and have included some of those songs here- several of those I would have come to eventually. But then I got inspired by Rolling Stone's list https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/greatest-debut-songs-singles-990470/ and started adding songs of my own. I may be incorrect on some of these songs, but these are the songs from my research which seem to be a band's debut song/single. Also I'm not guaranteeing all of these are great songs.

18) Winger "Madalaine":

Not "Surfin' USA", "Surfer Girl" or "Surfin' Safari" but just "Surfin". 19) The Beach Boys "Surfin":

20) Seether "Fire Again":

21) Warrant "Down Boys":

22) Elastica "Stutter":

One thing I really like about this blog is that it really makes me stretch beyond the same few hundred songs that I usually post. I only know these guys because of "Feed The Tree" and had never heard this song before tonight. 23) Belly "Gepetto":

Bonus video: "Feed The Tree":

24) Veruca Salt "Seether":

25) Black Stone Cherry "Lonely Train":

26) Ed Sheeran "The A Team":

27) C+C Music Factory "Gonna Make You Sweat":

28) Aldo Nova "Fantasy":

29) "Jukebox The Ghost" Everybody's Lonely":

30) Christina Aguilera "Genie In A Bottle":

31) Walk The Moon "Anna Sun":

32) Sixx A.M. "Life is Beautiful":

33) Air Supply "Love and Other Bruises":

34) Genesis "Silent Sun":

(Finished September 27th, 2020) B101's Top 500 Songs of the 80s, Part 9: Songs 340-321

Hello,

Because I haven't taken on enough projects already I decided I'd start yet one more project. I Googled The Top Songs of the 80s and found a Billboard list, but I didn't want to pay for that. I'm sure that Billboard would call that proprietary information. Next I thought I could do my Top 100 80s songs on my iTunes, but that ended up being too much work. I continued Googling and stumbled across this B101 countdown- they're an 80s and More station out of Providence. Since I found this easily and there's no financial strings attached I'm hoping this isn't proprietary information. Thanks to B101.

340) Steve Winwood "Roll With It":

339) Janet Jackson "Miss You Much":

338) Phil Collins "Take Me Home":

337) Don Henley "All She Wants To Do Is Dance":

(Finished September 30th, 2020) 2020's Best Rock Music... So Far, Part 2

Hello,

I was working on the best rock songs of 1980, when I realized that bores me. If it bores me, the top lover of 80s music, then I know it would bore nearly everyone else. So I decided to work on the best rock songs of this year, 2020. It has been a brutal year, but there has been a lot of great rock music released this year. There has been new music released by-or will be released by- many great bands. Those bands include Pearl Jam, The Strokes, Shinedown, Ego Kill Talent, Seether, Bon Jovi, Bush and Massive Wagons. Of all the CDs I've listened to this year probably my second favorite CD as of now is H.E.A.T.'s "H.E.A.T 2".

"H.E.A.T 2" was released on February 21, 2020.

18) "Rock Your Body":

19) "Dangerous Ground":

20) "Victory":

21) "Adrenaline":

22) "One By One":

23) "Nothing To Say":

24) "We Are Gods"

Seether released "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" on August 28th, 2020.

25) "Pride Before The Fall":

26) "Let It Go":

27) "Dangerous":

28) "Bruised and Bloodied":

29) "Beg":

30) "Wasteland":

In This Moment released "Mother" on March 27th, 2020.

31) "Fly Like An Eagle":

32) "As Above, So Below":

33) "The In-Between":

34) "Hunting Grounds":

35) "Lay Me Down":

Stone Temple Pilots released the anemic CD "Perdida" on February 7th, 2020. Sadly this isn't a good CD at all. This is the best song on the CD:

36) "Fare Thee Well":

Hello,

Imagine if you will a hot summer, back when time moved slowly, no driver's license and not much to do. Imagine if there's a really new innovation called cable TV, but honestly there's not that much to watch. Let's fast forward to August 1st, 1981 when MTV first started. Now imagine that you don't have access to MTV but you hear a lot about how cool it is. Sure there are a couple of other places to watch videos, but they're not 24 hours. Finally a year or two later there you are on that hot summer day watching video after video on MTV and absolutely love it. Although these blogs are focusing on 1981-1985, I will include videos from before if they were also memorable. Now almost 40 years later on this hot summer day imagine this is that long ago hot summer day and enjoy....
