(Finished July 4th, 2020) Part 6 of The Songs Of My Life, themusicaddict's Greatest Songs Of All-Time

Hello,

These blogs are inspired by Bono picking 60 songs to celebrate his 60th birthday. I thought that was a good idea, I selected 53 songs to celebrate my recent 53rd birthday. I just couldn't keep this at 53 songs, there have been just too many amazing songs over the years. I've broken this into 10 tiers- with Tier 1 being the 53 best songs of all-time and Tier 2 being songs one notch lower. Well at least that's the thought. That didn't work out as there are a lot of songs that could've been in Tier 1 if I only had thought of them earlier. Thus this list is very fluid, I knew it would be a very hard task to actually come up with a completely accurate list of my GSoAT, especially since that's constantly changes.

For the last few weeks I've been busy working on this series of blogs. These are the songs of my life, aka The Greatest Songs of All-Time. These are the greatest songs of my life. What that means is that some of these songs that may not be the greatest songs ever on their own. However when attached to a personal link that makes it a Greatest Song of All-Time. I already have about 630 songs that will eventually be on this blog series as a GSoAT. I also have a list of songs that almost made the GSoAT- the almost GSoAT list- and some songs that are up and coming. On this blog these are songs I haven't decided whether or not they are GSoAT's. Working on these blogs will help me decide that.

Some of these songs will be on my actual GSoAT blogs and some won't, but I'll never tell.

(Finished June 22nd, 2020) themusicaddict's Top 106 Greatest 80's Era Bands Unranked Meat Loaf, Part 4: Songs 10-1

Hello,

This is my latest blog in counting down themusicaddict's Greatest 80's era bands. When I came up with this original list I somehow completely forgot Meat Loaf. That is why he's listed as unranked now. Once I finish this countdown I'm going to rerank all the artists into order, which is when I'll properly rank Meat Loaf. When I refer to era I mean the years from 1977 to 1993 as the 80s era. That's notable for Meat Loaf as his first "Bat Out of Hell" was released in 1977 and the second "BOOH" was released in 1993.

10) "For Crying Out Loud":

9) "Good Girls Go To Heaven":

8) "Everything Louder Than Everything Else":

(Finished June 20th, 2020) The Best Soul/ Funk Songs of the 60s and 70s, Part 1

Hello,

This series of blogs is inspired by watching Spike Lee's Vietnam War movie "Da 5 Bloods". It's set in both the Vietnam War and then several years later when the four survivors go back to Vietnam for many different reasons. I give the movie a B, it felt a bit long. That's especially for the parts involving Delroy Lindo's Paul. Lindo does a great job though as a man who's losing a battle with PTSD. There are many outstanding performances, the best are by Chadwick Boseman and Clarke Peters. Peters is great in everything he's in.

The music of Marvin Gaye plays a prominent part and that's what inspired this series of blogs.

1) Marvin Gaye "I Heard It Through The Grapevine":

2) The Commodores "Sail On":

3) The Commodores "Still":

4) The Commodores "Too Hot Ta Trot":

5) Brook Benton "Rainy Night In Georgia":

6) The Commodores "Three Times A Lady":

7) The Commodores "Brick House":

8) James Brown "I Got You (I Feel Good):

9) James Brown "Papa's Got's A Brand New Bag":

10) The Commodores "Easy":

11) Chic "Good Times":

12) The Manhattans "Shining Star":

13)  Ray Charles "What I'd Say":

14) Ray Charles "Hit The Road Jack":

15) The Chi-Lites "Have You Seen Her":

16) The Contours "Do You Love Me":

17) Sam Cooke "Cupid":

18) The Chi-Lites "Oh Girl":

(Finished June 20th, 2020) The Best Forgotten 80's Songs, Part 5: Songs 69-85

Hello,

I was just randomly watching videos on YouTube when I had the idea for this blog. I picked the most obscure 80s songs that are still great songs. I used a lot of YouTube videos and various blogs to come up with these blogs as well as my brain that retains way too many 80s songs.

Some of the various songs the above mentioned videos and websites suggested include The Kinks' "Come Dancing", Jackson Browne's "Somebody's Baby",  Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out", Nu Shooz's "I Can't Wait", Gregory Abbott's "Shake You Down" and 'Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry". I've had those 6 songs on my blog so many times that none of them will be included here. They'll not be on these blogs.

I've published blogs like this previously, I'm hoping that many of these songs are different forgotten songs. Since I grew up in the 80s and am so familiar with so many songs from them, it's hard for me to know what's obscure and what isn't.

This and "Sign Your Name" were his two big hits and then he was hardly heard from again.
69) Terence Trent Darby "Wishing Well":

70) Big Pig "Breakaway":

71) Charlene "I've Never Been To Me":

72) The Motels "Only The Lonely":

I haven't heard this funky uptempo version of this song before, I like it.
73) Stephen Duffy "Kiss Me":

74) Stephanie Mills "Never Knew Love Like This Before":

75) Rick Springfield "Celebrate Youth":

76) The Blow Monkeys "Digging Your Scene":

77) Bobby Brown "All Day All Night":

78) Johnny Hates Jazz "Shattered Dreams":

79) Big Audio Dynamite "The Bottom Line":

80) Alphaville "Forever Young":

81) Boy's Don't Cry "I Wanna Be A Cowboy":

82) Kon Kan "I Beg Your Pardon":

83) Living In A Box "Living In A Box":

84) Siouxsie and the Banshees "Peek-A-Boo":

85) Pseudo Echo "Living In A Dream":
