(Finished (Again) June 6th, 2025) Part 2 of The Most MTVish Videos of The Early MTV Days: 1976ish-1985

Hello,

I made several mistakes on this blog when I originally published it. I have fixed those mistakes and made this post better for it.

Let's go back to the early days of MTV and some of the most MTVish videos of those early days from 1981-1985. I loved MTV so much, especially the early days. It was so cool to see what these musicians looked like and learn more about that them. And as the kids would say these are all bangers!!

This will include videos from before MTV's debut. I had so much fun listening to all of these great songs again, it took me back to the hot summers of the 80s.

18) The Go-Go's "Vacation":

19) The Bangles "Manic Monday";

20) Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Want To Have Fun":

21) The Waitresses "I Know What Boys Like":

Here's the actual video. 22a) Stan Ridgway "Camouflage":

Hello,

These lyrics are from Kane Brown's "Country Classic". It's performed by Brown and written by Jon Capeci, Gabe Foust and Free.

That girl, she's a sweet home Alabama
She could paint me a Birmingham
Hot damn, if I could make it to Cheyenne
Or Amarillo by morning (By morning)
Man, she feels like a woman
Like I heard her on the radio
Driving down that red dirt road (Woo-hoo)
Oh, I can't get her out of my head
Know I gotta have it

Yeah, she's a country classic

(Finished March 16th, 2025) The Best Theme Songs from James Bond Movies Ranked In Order

Hello,

Are James Bond movies the movie series that has best music? Truly some of the greatest songs ever have been in these movies. These are the 17 best songs, ranked in order, from the James Bond movies. With apologies to Adele, Matt Monro, Jack White and Alicia Keys, Chris Cornell, and Nancy Sinatra. That Sam Smith song is just brutal though, not sure which of his previous songs made anyone think he belonged in this select group. Maybe they mistook him for James Capaldi?

Bonus song: James Capaldi "Someone You Loved":

That "Three Blind Mice" thing at the end is a bit weird. But up to that point this is a pretty cool instrumental. 17) John Barry and Orchestra "The James Bond Theme":

16) Louis Armstrong "We Have All The Time In The World":

15) Billie Eilish "No Time To Die":

As cool as the above song, it's nowhere as good as this song. It fit in perfectly with "True Detective: Night Country". After five pretty good episodes the final episode was brutal though. This song is flawless though. Bonus Song: Billie Eilish "Bury A Friend":

This is such an incredibly passionate version of one of the lesser known songs of the James Bond series. 14) Tom Jones "Thunderball":

13) a-ha "The Living Daylights":

12) Shirley Bassey "Goldfinger":

11) Garbage "The World Is Not Enough":

10) Lulu "The Man With The Golden Gun":

Another truly underappreciated song from this movie series. It's also the funkiest song in this collection. 9) Gladys Knight "License To Kill":

A song that fits in perfectly on my iPod. 8) Shirley Bassey "Diamonds Are Forever":

7) Rita Coolidge "All Time High":

6) Tina Turner "Goldeneye":

5) Duran Duran "A View To A Kill":

4) Madonna "Die Another Day":

Quite likely Sheena Easton's best song. 3) Sheena Easton "For Your Eyes Only":

2) Wings "Live and Let Die":

1) Carly Simon "Nobody Does It Better":

Hello,

These are my greatest songs of all-time. These are those songs that I absolutely love. I'll also be creating a second set of songs that are almost a greatest song of all-time but doesn't quite reach that rarefied air. All of these songs I've listened to hundreds of times but still can't get enough.

I've started working on several different permutations of these blogs, but this is the final blog series for this topic. I've put a lot of work into this so that it will be comprehensive, but I can also add new songs as time goes on. For instance when I started this blog series I had never heard of Chappell Roan. But now I love "Hot To Go". There will be other songs that meet this same criteria.
