(Started July 14th, 2018) The Best Live Performances of Jimi

Hello,

Last night and this morning I was looking for the definitive live Jimi Hendrix CDs. While there were some good ones, there was nothing that was a must have. Thus I've decided to create my own definitive Jimi Hendrix live CD.

There aren't a lot of great live performances of Jimi Hendrix, some songs don't even have videos. No videos, live or not, for "Wait Until Tomorrow":

Here's a full live concert":

"Machine Gun":

Depending on the CD, it's either "Foxy Lady" or "Foxey Lady":

"Purple Haze":

"Killing Floor":

"Freedom":

"Hear My Train Comin":

"Power of Soul":

I can't find a great live performance of this song sadly. "Crosstown Traffic":

The only live performance I can find, sadly not great sound. "Manic Depression":

"Stone Free":

"Hey Joe":

"All Along The Watchtower":

(Started July 13th, 2018) A Review of Pink's March 9th, 2018 Show In Salt Lake City

Hello,

Sorry it took so long to write this review. I wasn't too stressed about it as I knew no one in painful anticipation to read it. I have an upcoming concert review for Night Ranger. Coming later this year concert reviews for Boz Scaggs, Foreigner/ Whitesnake/ Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience and in November it looks like I'll be going to see twenty one pilots. With this concert review I'll be posting some of my favorite songs, but I will try not to overdo it.

Sadly this song hasn't aged well. 1) "Let's Get The Party Started":
2) "Beautiful Trauma":

One of my few complaints of the night, this song had way too much bass. 3) "Just Like A Pill":
4)"Who Knew":
 Eminem, as a ballon, makes an appearance to perform the rap. At the end of which Pink kicks him in the face. It seems she doesn't take revenge lightly. This is a better video. 5) "Revenge":

6) "Funhouse/Just A Girl":

Pink and her great band's version kicked butt. One of the highlights of the night. 7) "Smells Like Teen Spirit":

8) "Secrets":
An example of her aerial tricks comes at about the 3:05 mark. 9) "Try/ Just Like A Pill/ So What/ Beautiful Trauma":

10) "Just Give Me One Reason" (Nate Reuss singing on a TV):
11) "I'm Not Dead":

12) "Just Like Fire":

13) "What About Us":

14) "For Now":
15) "Barbies":
16) "I Am Here":
17)"Perfect":
18) "Raise Your Glass":
19 "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)":

Encore

20) "So What":
21) "Glitter In The Air":

Above is the setlist. The night featured several aerial displays of Pink and her dancers going into the crowd highlighted by Pink getting relatively close to everyone in the stadium. That made a large basketball arena feel a bit more intimate. That was a nice touch as we were so far away that it didn't feel like we were apart of the concert. Maybe more bands should look into playing in the round? Also I would have been fine without the dancers. I'd rather paid less and not have the dancers be part of the concert. A lot of the time I forgot that the dancers were even there. And as you can tell by the songs I highlight with videos, I preferred the songs of the first half.

The best songs of the night: "Beautiful Trauma", "Just Like Fire", "So What", "Just Give Me One Reason", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Funhouse" and "I'm Not Dead".

It was a very solid setlist, but this is the one song I wished she would have played. "Don't Let Me Get Me":

Overall it was a very good concert. But again the size of the arena lacked a lot of the intimacy of a smaller theatre. After seeing Night Ranger in a small amphitheatre where they were literally only a few feet away, intimacy makes a big difference.

If you get the chance to see Pink, and can afford it, go do it. She's a great performer and singer. Sure there was some extraneous fluff, but that wasn't enough to worry about.

(Starting July 11th, 2018) New Music, Concert Tour for twenty one pilots

Hello,

In the last several hours twenty one pilots announced that they're releasing both new music and going on tour. If everything works out then my daughter and I will be able to go see them on November 13th here in Salt Lake City. Now here's two new songs by twenty one pilots and some of their best songs.

Rumors about the new CD:

"Jumpsuit":

"Nico and the Niners":

I'm not familiar with this song "Kitchen Sink":

I like this song so much that it's still on my iPod after seeing them in concert in 2016. Actually I don't just like this song, I love this song. "Stressed Out":

"Ride":

"heavydirtysoul":

"Migraine":

"Car Radio":

"The Judge":

"Tear In My Heart":

"We Don't Believe What's On TV":

"Heathens":

"Guns For Hands":

"Lane Boy":

"Message Man":

"Polarize":

(Started July 10th, 2018) The Solid Foundation of RATM, Audioslave and Prophets of Rage

Hello,

Brad Wilk, Tim Commerford and Tom Morello really must like each other, they've played in three different bands together. Along with Zack de la Rocha they Raged Against the Machine. Then with the sadly departed Chris Cornell they were Audioslaves. Finally with Chuck D and B-Real they all are Prophets of Rage. Honestly out of the three bands, my favorite band is still Rage Against The Machine. They opened for U2 and were good, but swallowed up a bit in a big football stadium. One of my favorite concerts was Audioslave when they played when it was raining and mother nature was providing lightning to enhance the show. That was very cool.

Anyway here's a selection of some of each bands best songs.

Rage Against The Machine:

"Bullet In The Head":
"Testify":
"Killing In The Name":
"Bombtrack":
"Township Rebellion":
"Take The Power Back":

Audioslave:

"Dandelion":
"Sound of a Gun":
"Broken City":
"Set It Off":
"Show Me How To Live":
"I Am The Highway":

Prophets of Rage live in concert 2017 in Paris:

"Living On The 110":

"Prophets of Rage":

"Who Owns Who":
"Radical Eyes":
"The Party's Over":
"Legalize Me":

(Finished November 3rd, 2019) The Best of The Second British Invasion 1983

Hello,

From Wikipedia.org:

The Second British Invasion refers to music acts from the United Kingdom that became popular in the United States from the middle of 1982 [1] into late 1986, [2] primarily due to the cable music channel MTV . The term derives from the similar British Invasion of the U.S. in the 1960s. While acts with a wide variety of styles were part of the invasion, it was synth pop and new wave influenced acts that predominated.

1) The Police "Every Breath You Take" (aka the stalker song):

2) The Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)":

3) Culture Club "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me":

4) Dexy's Midnight Runners "Come On Eileen":

5) Duran Duran "Hungry Like The Wolf":

6) David Bowie "Let's Dance":

7) Thomas Dolby "She Blinded Me With Science":

8) The Pretenders "Back On The Chain Gang":

9) After The Fire "Der Kommissar":

(Finished July 8th, 2018) Concert Review of Zeppelin USA's "British Rock Royalty" Show in Layton, Utah July 7th, 2018

Hello,

This is my review of last night's British Rock Royalty show performed by Zeppelin USA, performing in the Ed Kenley Amphitheatre in Layton, Utah. Taking the stage right about 8:00 on a hot steamy night Zeppelin USA didn't mess around, they started off with "Baba O' Riley" and didn't let up until the final blistering solo and notes of "Whole Lotta Love".

They played sets of songs by The Who, Pink Floyd, Queen and then closed the show with the greatest rock bank of all-time, The Mighty Zep. I haven't been able to find a setlist anywhere on the 'net so this is the first published setlist that I'm aware of. The first set lasted from about 8:00 to 9:10 and then the second set lasted roughly from 9:25 to 10:35.

Overall it was a great concert, a great band and a very good singer. The sound was great and the musicianship was spectacular. Zeppelin USA was great on all of the songs by all 4 bands, but their show took flight with the Led Zeppelin songs. Those songs are really meant to be played live and I look forward to seeing Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin tribute in about 2.5 weeks. There are very few things as good as a live rock concert. Anyway if you get the chance to go, go see Zeppelin USA. You will not be disappointed.

I'll post selected songs from the British Rock Royalty set and some by the original bands. Remember these songs sound so much better live than the below videos.

The Who set
1) "Baba O'Riley":
This looks like basically the same band that performed Saturday night, although the lead guitarist is a different person. 2) "Who Are You":

3) "Pinball Wizard":
4) "Reign Over Me":

5) "Won't Get Fooled Again":

Pink Floyd's set:
6) "Time":

7) "Money":
8) "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2":

9) "Comfortably Numb":

David Gilmour's recently recorded version of this song. 10) "Run Like Hell":

Queen's set:
11) "Tie Your Mother Down":

12) "Somebody To Love":
13)  "Fat Bottomed Girls":
14) "Another One Bites The Dust/ Under Pressure":
15) "Bohemian Rhapsody":

Although it wasn't the original band playing those amazing songs Zep's songs still sounded great. Those songs soar when played live. Zeppelin USA also does a full two hour Led Zeppelin set, I hope to see that some day. Led Zeppelin's set:

16) "Rock N' Roll":

17) "Good Times Bad Times":

18) "Black Dog":

19) "Misty Mountain Hop":

20) "Stairway To Heaven":

21) "Whole Lotta Love/ Boogie With Stu/ Immigrant Song/ Heartbreaker/ Whole Lotta Love":

"Heartbreaker":
