Hello,

I've tried to do this series of blogs and then given up on it several times. However this time I'm sure I have a better plan and that it might actually work. Right now I'm coming up with my Top 900ish songs of all-time. Although I might have to go a couple of songs beyond that, thus the ish in the title.

Right now I'm working on a list of songs that are no-doubters and will for sure be in my Top 900. I plan on having 1 list of 900ish songs as my first tier. I plan on having a second and third tier of 100 greatest songs of all-time (GSOAT). I'm only one person and putting this list together won't be quick and I'll be updating this blog frequently. They're in alphabetical order so it's easier to keep track of the songs on this list. The number in front of the songs is my way to keep track of how many songs I've posted.

I don't know if any of these songs will finish in the Top 900ish songs of all-time or not. Some will, some won't. Even if they don't make it these are still great songs.

These songs are potential GSOAT. Of course they're great songs, but are they GSOAT? I'll listen to them a time or two and see if they hit that GSOAT sweet spot. Of course all opinions are subjective.

This first song will probably be the only song that I won't be able to tie one musician to, there are just too many great versions. That song being "Can't Help Falling In Love".

(Started April 17, 2021) Part 1 of The Best New Wave, Alternative and Oddball Songs of 1981

Hello,

What were some of the most popular songs of 40 years ago?

In no particular order these are the 51 best New Wave, Alternative or oddball songs of 1981. So many of these songs remind me of the early days of MTV, when they used to be relevant. Not only relevant but they brought a bunch of attention to obscure songs that might have been completely forgotten. Who would have known The Buggles "Video Killed The Radio Star" without MTV?

1) The Human League "Love Action (I Believe In Love)":

2) Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes":

Has anyone ever had a thought wondering what Danny Elfman looked like without a shirt on? I didn't think so, some things just aren't meant to be seen. 3) Oingo Boingo"Only a Lad":

4) Men At Work "Who Can It Be Now":

5) Men At Work "Down Under":

6) Men At Work "Be Good Johnny":

7) The Go-Go's "Our Lips Are Sealed":
