(Finished February 1st, 2025) Part 1 of The Best Love Songs

Hello,

These are some of the best songs of all-time. The good, the bad, the sad, the happy, the up, the down, the fun, the brutal, the sexy and the oh my that's not sexy at all. This is inspired by a NPR story about love songs.

The saddest line in all of pop music has to be "It must have been love, but it's over now." This song is from the "Pretty Woman" movie. If you're looking for a good Broadway soundtrack I highly suggest the "Pretty Woman" Broadway CD. 1) Roxette "It Must Have Been Love":

2) Styx "The Best of Times":

3) Sade "No Ordinary Love":

4) Chris Isaak "Wicked Game":

5) Meat Loaf "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)":

(Finished January 23rd, 2025) Part 2 of The Top 200 Rock Songs of the 90s: Songs 182-167

Hello,

This is the most bizarre rock countdown I've ever seen. It has several songs by Maria McKee (who?), The Allman Brothers (they were okay in the 70s) and Saraya (Who? Part 2). I would much more prefer my Top 200 90s rock countdown, but this one is easier to work with in this context. If you want to look at the website where this countdown resides: https://www.classicrockhistory.com/top-200-rock-songs-of-the-90s/

It seems I published an older countdown? I'm not sure, but the list that came from the current Classic Rock History doesn't match up with what I have. I have no idea what I was doing. I'm going to keep the previous blogs as is and start all over with song #200.

166-148, 147-131, 130-114, 113-97, 96-80, 79-63, 62-46, 45-28, 27-15, 14-1

182) The Allman Brothers Band "Bad Rain":

If this was my own Top 90s rock songs countdown, this song would close to if not in the Top Ten songs. I suggest this song instead Third Eye Blind "Semi-Charmed Life":

That's a perfectly okay song.. 181) The Rolling Stones "Sparks Will Fly":

...but it's nowhere as good as this song The Cranberries "Zombie", let's replace the above song with the Cranberries classic:

I love the passion he sings this song with. 180) Nirvana "Heart-Shaped Box":

179) The Counting Crows "Mr. Jones":

178) Bon Jovi "Bed of Roses":

"This is a funny old song" indeed. 177) Rod Stewart "Cigarettes and Alcohol":

I suggest this song instead, another song by Rod Stewart "Rhythm of My Heart":

Of  course "The Motown Song" would be a good replacement as well.

176) Elton John "The One":

Oh I've heard this song before and like it. Although it's nowhere close to being a Top 200 rock song of the 90s. 175) Rush "Test For Echo":

Here's another 90s Rush rocker. Rush "Neurotica":

At least 2,000 songs would be more appropriate here. Sorry but the man just cannot sing. 174) Bob Dylan "World Gone Wrong":

Let's put this song here in place of the above terrible Bob Dylan song. Spacehog "In The Meantime":

173) Saraya "Hitchin' a Ride":

172) Red Hot Chili Peppers "Californication":

171) Radiohead "Paranoid Android":

170) The Cure "Friday I'm In Love":

169) Alanis Morissette "Perfect":

168) Sheryl Crow "Anything But Down":

167) Aerosmith "Eat The Rich":

I suggest this song instead, also by Aerosmith. "Fever":

(Finished January 19th, 2025) Part 3 of The Most Fun Songs To Sing Along With

Hello,

What more do I need to say other than these songs are fun to sing along with. Fortunately you won't have to hear me "singing".

35) George Jones "The One I Loved Back Then (The Corvette Song)":

Yes, you should sing along with both singers on this fantastic song. From the amazing Broadway play "Rent". 36) "Light My Candle":

37) The Mighty Mighty Bosstones "The Impression I Get":

38) The Sneaker Pimps "6 Underground":

39) The Fugees "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You":

40) The Eagles "Heartache Tonight":

41) Dope "Rebel Yell":

42) Guns N' Roses "Patience":

43) Madonna "Live To Tell":

44) ELO "Don't Bring Me Down":

45) Modern English "Melt With You":

46) The Commodores "Three Times A Lady":

47) John Parr "St. Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion)":

48) The Temptations "My Girl":

49) Eric Carmen "Hungry Eyes":

(Finished January 17th, 2025) Part 1 of The Top 200 Rock Songs of the 90s: Songs 200-183

I wasn't even aware of this song back in the 90s, or now, until I started working on this blog series. 200) The Allman Brothers Band "Kind of Bird":

May I suggest this song instead K's Choice "Not An Addict":

199) Bob Dylan "Love Sick":

May I suggest instead L7 "Pretend We're Dead":

This is a perfectly fine song..198) Bruce Springsteen "Local Hero":

...may I suggest this Bruce song "Human Touch":

197) U2 "Numb":

196) Sheryl Crow "Strong Enough":

195) Metallica "Nothing Else Matters":

This song is much better than I remember. 194) The Rolling Stones "Love Is Strong":

Staying with the Stones I'd put "Highwire" here over the above song.

193) The Verve "Bittersweet Symphony":

\

This song should be much, much higher. 192) The Goo Goo Dolls "Iris":

191) Stevie Ray Vaughan/ Jimmie Vaughan "Hard To Be":

I'd much rather listen to this Robert Cray classic "The Forecast (Calls For Pain)":

190) Meat Loaf "Out of the Frying Pan (And Into The Fire)":

189) Foghat "Jump The Train":

Foghat? The 90's weren't the 70s, the rock is much harder in the 90s. We'll stay with a one name band though. Jackyl "I Stand Alone":

188) John Mellencamp "Your Life Is Now":

187) Fleetwood Mac "Love Is Dangerous":

186) Mother Love Bone "Come Bite The Apple":

A good song, but probably not even a Top 1000 90s rock song. 185) Paul McCartney "The World Tonight":

184) Lenny Kravitz "Are You Gonna Go My Way":

This song should be up at least 150 notches. I dislike the video, but this is one hell of a song. 183) Blink-182 "All The Small Things":

Hello,

This is at least the 700th blog that I've written about the greatest decade of music ever, that would be the 80s.  The music of the late 70s throughout the end of the 1989 is indeed amazing. Inspired by watching the "Tetris" movie and the amazing 80s songs they played I thought we needed yet another 80s blog. This one will feature some great late 70s songs as well.

From time to time I go back to see if there's a blog I could work on from about a year ago. This is one of those blogs. I thought now would be a good time to continue this blog series.

(Finished January 4th, 2025) Part 2 of Songs For Our National Nightmare To Accompany A Second Trump presidency

Hello,

On the incredibly sad night we found out we'll have to live under the draconian rule of president Dumbass again. I find this incredibly sad and heartbreaking. The man has no moral character, honesty isn't a thing he values and he has the brain cells of a donkey. He's like Danny Devito in "Twins", he has every bad attribute one person can have. It's going to be four more years of hell with this buffoon as our "leader".

Although this makes me very sad I did have some positive feelings. I still live in the greatest country in the world- for now. This is a time we are going to have to stand up our fellow Americans and anyone else that needs our help.

18) Bill Conti "Gonna Fly Now (Theme From 'Rocky')":

I wish we could just do this for the next four years. Sadly no amount of shaking will get rid of Trump? 19) Taylor Swift "Shake It Off":

20) Chumbawamba "Tubthumping":

21) The Beatles "Let It Be":

22) Michael Jackson "Black Or White":

23) This is another "Wish You Were Here" by Incubus, but with a much different feeling:

24) Pink Floyd "Shine On You Crazy Diamond":

25) Soundgarden "Rusty Cage":

26) Christopher Cross "Ride Like The Wind":

27) Martha and the Vandellas "Nowhere To Run":

28) The Smiths "How Soon Is Now":

29) Tori Amos "Crucify":

30) XTC "Here Comes President Kill Again":

31) Christina Aguilera "The Fighter":

This song was written about the type of person that Donald Trump was. A man who earned money the old fashioned way- he earned it. Trump indeed was 'a fortunate son" and now he's going to be the commander-in-chief? 32) Creedence Clearwater Revival "Fortunate Son":

"Your misery and hate will kill us all." 33) My Chemical Romance "Welcome To The Black Parade":

34) Billy Preston "Nothing From Nothing":

35) Bob Marley and The Wailers "Get Up, Stand Up":
