(Finished August 8th, 2017) Green Day Concert Review August 7th, 2017 in Salt Lake City

Hello,

After a too short set, only 5 songs by Catfish and the Bottlemen, and a 15 minute break Green Day took the stage for an electrifying 2.5 hour concert. I won't be posting videos for every song, just for the songs that were personal highlights. I've wanted to see Green Day for the last several years and am so glad that I finally got to go see them.

Upsides: Green Day rawks. Their setlist was amazing, leaning heavily on their classic "American Idiot" CD. I always say the best time to see a band is when they've released a few CDs and their newest CD is great. Both of which Green Day qualifies for easily. Unlike a certain administration, Green Day is a "fine tuned machine". Green Day are both excellent musicians and energetic performers.

Downsides: there was a bit of filler. The mentions of "Salt Lake City" and "Utah" were too frequent. We know where we are and we know where we live. You don't need to appeal to us, we already love you. We also don't need to hear "raise your hands in the air", or the call and response "hey ho" several times. The setlist is amazing and I only have one qualm. I wish they would have played this song, "Whatshername":

If the filler is cut dramatically, causing the band to play a tighter set, Green Day would put on a nearly perfect show.

Pre setlist sing alongs:
1) "Bohemian Rhapsody" (A person dressed as a bunny runs around on stage.) :
2) "Blitzkreig Pop":
3) "The Good The Bad and The Ugly":

1) "Know Your Enemy" (Billie Joe brings someone on stage to sing.) :
2) "Bang Bang" ("Revolution Radio" banner drops behind the band.) :

3) "Revolution Radio":
4) Holiday": / 5) "Letterbomb":

6) "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Billie Joe starts this song off acoustically on his guitar.):
7) "Longview" (A girl named Megan came on stage to sing the third verse):
8) "Youngblood":

9) "2000 Light Years Away":
10) "Hitchin' A Ride":
11) When I Come Around":

12) "Welcome To Paradise":

13) "Minority":
14) "Are We The Waiting" / 15) "St. Jimmy" (Tonight this featured both a drum and a sax solo.):

16) "Knowledge" (Two 18 year old women from the crowd came up and played guitars, one left with a guitar and one left with drum sticks.) :
17) "Basket Case":

18) "She":
19) "King For A Day" (Jason Freese plays a sax solo, with a "Careless Whisper" snippet.) :
20" "Shout"/"Always Look On The Bright Side"/ "I Can't Get No (Satisfaction)"/ "Hey Jude" /"Shout".

21) "Hey Jude"/"Still Breathing":

22) "Forever Now" (The rain starts falling, gently at first and then it rains harder. It gives a magical feeling to a magical night.) :

Encore

23) "American Idiot":

24) "Jesus of Suburbia":

This is the only quality video I can find from the concert in Salt Lake City. The rest of the band leaves the stage and Billie Jo plays his acoustic guitar and sings the final two songs.

25) "21 Guns":

26) "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)":
