Kenny Loggins Goes To The Movies

Hello,

Please remember Record Store Day on April 19th, 2014. Support your local independent record stores please. Don't know where a local, independent record store is located? Go to the following website and you can find out: http://recordstoreday.com/Venues. For those of you who live in Utah, I recommend Graywhale. I don't buy any of the Record Store Day vinyl, but I do love the double discounts the offer for those with Killer Whale cards.

Kenny Loggins has had many hits in his career. First in Loggins and Messina and then as a solo act. For a time in the 80s he seemed to be the go to person for amazing songs for movies and soundtracks. I wrote a similar blog to this on February 13th, 2013, but that was more about all the great songs that were in 80's movies. This blog is just about most of the great Kenny Loggins songs that have been in movies. Information for this blog came from Kenny Loggins Wikipedia page, thanks to them. I also would like to thank Catherine Glotz for her Kenny Loggins movie music list at amazon.com.

From 1980's "Caddyshack",  this is "I'm Alright":

From 1984's "Footloose":

"I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man)":

And of course the incredibly catchy, dance worthy "Footloose":

From 1985's "Rocky 4", this is Kenny Loggins and Gladys Knight's "Double or Nothing":

From 1986's "Top Gun" comes one of the best openings of any movie ever. The combination of the opening scene paired with the aggressive rock music of "Danger Zone" makes for a great start of a movie.

And the almost as good "Playing With The Boys":

From 1987's "Over The Top" Wait a second you don't remember "Over The Top"? It's the Sylvester Stallone arm wrestling movie. If that doesn't jog your memory, then you are forgiven. It's probably one of the few 80's movie I haven't seen.

This isn't from the best movie ever, but "Meet Me Halfway" is a hell of a song:

From 1988's "Caddyshack 2" (another 80's movie I haven't seen) is "Nobody's Fool":

From 1996's "One Fine Day" this is "For The First Time":
