(Started January 31st, 2026) Rage Against The Machine Is The Band We Need Now

Hello,

With the disastrous Trump regime terrorizing America the band we need right now is the angry and butt kicking Rage Against The Machine. Here are some of their best songs and other great protest songs. Resist now and until the regime is no longer. Most people would probably assume from looking at me that I'm MAGA. But my Mom taught me better than that and I'm as far from being MAGA as one can be.

I'm sending my RATM floodlight into the sky for them to write new material about these scary times we live in.

1) Rage Against The Machine "Bombtrack":

2) Rage Against The Machine "Testify":

3) Rage Against The Machine "Killing In The Name":

"American Idiot" is truly one of the greatest CDs ever made. 4) Green Day "American Idiot":

5) Rage Against The Machine "Take The Power Back":

6) Green Day "The American Dream Is Killing Me":

7) Rage Against The Machine "Settle For Nothing":

This song played on my morning walk and I thought these lyrics were spot on for the times we live in now. 8) Creed "One":

"I feel angry, I feel helpless
Want to change the world, yeah
I feel violent, I feel alone
Don't try and change my mind, no"

9) Rage Against The Machine "Bullet In The Head":

10) Judas Priest "You've Got Another Thing Coming":

11) Rage Against The Machine "Know Your Enemy":

12) Queensryche "Empire":

With them wanting to have 1.5 trillion for the defense budget, can you imagine what the numbers are for their other government programs. None of my money should go to ICE. 13) Rage Against The Machine "Wake Up":

14) Queensryche "Spreading The Disease":

15) Rage Against The Machine "Fistful of Steel":

16) Bruce Springsteen "Death To My Hometown":

17) Rage Against The Machine "Township Rebellion":
From "Les Mis" 18) "Do You Hear The People Sing":
19) Rage Against The Machine "Freedom":
20) Queensryche "Suite Sister Mary":
21) Rage Against The Machine "Calm Like A Bomb":
22) Bruce Springsteen "Streets of Minneapolis":
I have included this song twice intentionally, this may be the most necessary song for these times. 23) Rage Against The Machine "Killing In The Name":

Hello,

I agree with the Boss 100% on this subject. Why is the DHS/ ICE surging in Minnesota when there's roughly 23 times more illegal immigrants in Texas?

(Finished January 25th, 2026) Part 5 of Fun and Joyous Songs of the 80s

Hello,

When I'm just watching TV, watching a show set in space in the 23rd century I don't think I'm about to hear a song from the 80s. That would be the 1980s. Out of nowhere comes Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go". But sure enough there it was and I was reminded of the universality of 80s music. Even when I try I can't escape it. Here are some great and fun songs from the 80s.

This show was Season 3, episode 2 "Wedding Bell Blues" and I hate to say how boring that episode was. Also the end of the episode suggested what the next episode would be about. I have no desire to see that episode. I've pretty much given up on that show.

There are so few sci-fi shows that are great. So far I've been enjoying the bizarre "Pluribus". It's bizarre in a very entertaining way though. I also have been enjoying "Welcome To Derry". I need a good show to watch with about 50 episodes I can just watch without spending time looking for something to watch.

69) Duran Duran "Rio":

70) Fleetwood Mac "Big Love":

71) After The Fire "Der Kommissar":

I thought this one might be from the 70s, but no it's from 1981. 72) Rod Stewart "Tonight I'm Yours":

74) The Cars "You Are The Girl":

(Finished January 5th, 2026) Part 12 of My All-Time Favorite, Not Necessarily Best, 1280ish Songs

Hello,

January 5th, 2026 update. These blogs are a long ways from being complete. I have updated them to focus on the fact that these are my favorite songs, not necessarily the best. I have also update the number of songs to 1280- which is much more realistic than the previously listed 680 songs. I will eventually have to update that number as well as I keep on finding favorite new songs.

These aren't the best songs in my opinion, these are my favorite songs. There aren't a lot of differences between the two lists, but there are differences. For instance I love "We Built This City", but a lot of people don't consider that song as the best. But because the song rocks so hard it's easily one of my all-time favorite songs.

Yes my projected number of favorite songs has doubled and will continue to rise likely. There are just so many great songs out there.

188) Ray Parker Jr. "Ghostbusters":

189) Brooks and Dunn "Brand New Man":

190) The 1975 "Chocolate":

Such a pretty song. 191) Gerry and the Pacemakers "Ferry Across The Mersey":

(Finished January 2nd, 2026) Part 5 of the Best of 1973

Hello,

Happy New Year's!! Let's hope this year doesn't suck as much as 2025! Last year was a brutal year.

What were some of the biggest hits of 50 years ago, 1973? Also a couple of days ago I discovered the British version of "Life on Mars", part of which is based in 1973. That got me thinking I could post a blog about the best songs of 1973, then I realized that was also 50 years ago.

I've watched the first couple episodes of "Life On Mars" and so far so good. It's a bit of a formula in that there's a case a week. But there's also the fish out of water aspect of Sam Tyler coming from 2006 to 1973. Or at least that's what his reality appears to be. In the second episode Sam says he wishes he could have been put in 1988. I agree with him on that. The only reason I would want to go to 1973 over 1988 is to be able to see Led Zeppelin in their full glory.

The song that inspired the title of the show was released in 1973. There is a second show in this series. It's also named after a David Bowie song "Ashes to Ashes".

I have worked hard to limit the duplicates in these next songs. If I'm not successful in that then enjoy them twice.

69) Vicki Lawrence "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia":

70) The Four Tops "Ain't No Woman Like I Got":

71) Tanya Tucker "Blood Red And Goin' Down":

72) The Temptations "Papa Was A Rolling Stone":

73) Elton John "Candle In The Wind":

74) Wings "Jet":

75) Here Comes Rhymin' Simon" Paul Simon "Kodachrome":

76) Bob Marley and The Wailers "Get Up Stand Up":

77) ZZ Top "La Grange":

78) Bob Marley and The Wailers "Kinky Reggae":

79) Pink Floyd "Time":

80) Led Zeppelin "Dancing Days":

81) The Doobie Brothers "Long Train Running":

82) Led Zeppelin "D'yer Maker":

83) Olivia Newton-John "Let Me Be There":
