(Finished March 2nd, 2019) 1979's Best Songs, Part 1: Songs 1-18

Hello,

Forty years ago was some of the greatest music ever, I'm going to post some of the greatest songs from the year.

One reason music was so much better back in the day was there were so many classic songs from multiple genres. Let's take 1979 for instance, it was the year for Disco. Not only were there some one hit wonders in the Disco genre, for instance Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell". But there were also some more established Disco artists that had big years, for instance Donna Summer. But also 1979 is the year of sappy sad songs- songs like Robert John's "Sad Eyes". But there were also a lot of rock bands that had great songs that year, for instance Led Zeppelin's "Fool In The Rain". However 1979 was also the year of Anne Murray, Blondie, The Commodores and Abba. So just off the top of my head these were some of the classics from rock, pop and disco. 1979 was also the year that Rap and Hip Hop got it's "first commercially successful hip hop song", which was The Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight".  (Thanks to Wikipedia.)

I'm going to start off with six of the biggest songs of 1979.

1) Blondie "Heart of Glass":

For a one hit wonder, this song has had a long pop culture shelf life.
2) Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive":
