(Finished September 30th, 2023) Songs On My Mind Now

Hello,

Along with U2's new song at the Sphere in Las Vegas they also have a new song, it's 1) "Atomic City":

I've been watching "The Mandalorian" the last little while and started watching "Ahsoka" today. "The Mandalorian" is such a great show. The scene when Luke Skywalker shows up in Season 2 and that iconic music plays gave me goosebumps. Time spent in the "Star Wars" universe should not be counted against our time on Earth. 2) John Williams "Star Wars Main Title":

3) John Williams "The Hologram/ Binary Sunset":

4) John Williams "Duel of the Fates":

5) John Williams "The Imperial March":

6) Ludwig Goransson "Boba Fett Theme":

7) Tchaikovsky's "The 1812 Overture Finale":

8) M "Pop Muzik":

9) Jimi Hendrix "Wait Until Tomorrow":

10) Blondie "Atomic":

11) Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody":

I read all about this song in Tom Breihan's "The Number Ones: Twenty Chart-Topping Hits That Reveal The History of Pop Music". 12) Chubby Checker "The Twist":

13) Depeche Mode "Enjoy The Silence":

14) The Smiths "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out":

15) Peter Schilling "Major Tom (Coming Home)":

16) Real Life "Send Me An Angel":

17) Pet Shop Boys "It's A Sin":

(Updated September 29th, 2023) Part 13 of Classic Rock Songs That Continue To Resonate Today

Hello,

This is another time that Blogger won't let me add videos. When I can I'll add videos to this blog. In the meantime here are the 17 songs for this blog and a preview of the next blog in this series. I had added the video for the Slade song previously.

This is another blog inspired by music from "Reacher". Oscar Finlay is a man that loves a good old 80s rock jam, meanwhile Reacher is more of a Blues guy. Two different blog series have been inspired by music from "Reacher". First it was classic ballads inspired by "Crazy". Now it's mostly great 80s rock inspired by "Carry On My Wayward Son" and "Caught Up In You". I so love hearing these songs again, they bring back so many memories. Thankfully most of those memories are great.

Now my definition of classic rock is not your typical classic rock definition. First of all I hate the phrase classic rock- all rock music is just rock. I include in these series of blogs songs that rock, but aren't your standard rock music you'd hear on classic rock radio. (I typed those last three words with my head in a barf bag.) If a song has rock lyrics I consider it a rock song.

And don't most rock songs, if they stay relevant long enough, become a classic rock song?

205) Steppenwolf "Magic Carpet Ride":

206) The Who "Won't Get Fooled Again":
207) Neil Young "Rockin' In A Free World":
208) Loverboy "The Kid Is Hot Tonite":
209) Alice Cooper "School's Out":
210) Dire Straits "Romeo and Juliet":
211) Billy Idol "White Wedding":
212) Toto "Africa":
213) The Greg Kihn Band "They Don't Write Em Like That":
214) Judas Priest "Breaking The Law":
215) Steely Dan "Dirty Work":
216) The Rolling Stones "Start Me Up":
217) Queensryche "Jet City Woman":
218) The Animals "San Franciscan Nights":
219) Eric Clapton "After Midnight":
220) Phil Collins "In The Air Tonight":
221) Guns N' Roses "Mr. Brownstone":

230) Do Not Stand In The Shadows

235) Slade "Cum On Feel The Noize":

236) Meat Loaf "Paradise By The Dashboard Light":

Hello,

Ah the 2000s, a decade known for 9/11, the 2008 financial crash, 2003's Iraq War, a tsunami that killed over 230,000 people. There was a growing awareness of climate change, which continues to escalate.

While there were some bad things those 11 years there were also a lot of great things. Things such as Harry Potter, "The Davinci Code" (opinions may vary),

It was also the time that included Clint Eastwood's masterful "Million Dollar Baby" and that amazing performance by Hillary Swank. Also that was the year of "The Dark Knight" and "King Kong".

Obviously some of the songs of the decade are below. Some of the best CDs of that timeframe are Alicia Keys "Songs In A Minor", Ryan Adams "Gold", The New Pornographers "Electric Version", Sufjan Stevens "Illinois", Franz Ferdinand's self-titled CD, U2's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", Death Cab For Cutie's "Transatlanticism", Arctic Monkeys' "Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not", Green Day's masterclass "American Idiot", The White Stripes "White Blood Cells", Bruce Springsteen's best CD "The Rising" (you heard me), U2's "All That You Can't Leave Behind", Arcade Fire's "Funeral" and The Strokes "This Is It". Expect to see several songs from the above CDs on here.

And yes I know 2000-2010 is actually 11 years, it's okay and just enjoy the music. For those of you who think my 102 songs for the 2000s is too limiting these blogs have a lot more songs for your enjoyment.

Best movies of 1984 include those mentioned above, "The Terminator", "Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom", "Gremlins", "Beverly Hills Cop", "The Karate Kid", "1984" (of course), "Top Secret", "The Natural" (still a great movie), "Revenge of the Nerds" and "Splash".

(Finished September 11th, 2023) 9/11/2001: A Day I Will Never Forget

Hello,

After watching this video I stopped writing the blog I had planned and started working on this blog. I didn't expect the below videos to affect me so much, but it truly has. Thanks to all the brave men and women that have fought for and still continue to fight for our flawed country. God Bless America!!

1) Mary Chapin Carpenter "Grand Central Station":

This is my favorite, by far, kick ass 9/11 song. 2) Neil Young "Let's Roll":

It seems Daryl has updated his own song, I agree with his rather enlightened viewpoint. 3) Daryl Worley "Have We Forgotten":

4) Gray "Hole In The Sky":

5) The Cranberries "New New York":

6) Sheryl Crow "God Bless This Mess":

7) John Hiatt "When New York Had Her Heart Broke":

14) "Nothing Man":

15) "Countin' On A Miracle":

16) "Into The Fire":

17) "Lonesome Day":

18) "Waitin' On A Sunny Day":

(Finished August 26th, 2023) Part 4 of The Best Country Songs of the 2000s

Hello,

The best decade for country music, in terms of popularity, was probably the 90s. Country music absolutely exploded that decade. However Country music still has maintained a fair level of popularity in the last 23 years. Songs continue to break out. Lady A's "Need You Now" broke out in a big way. As did "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X. Then of course that song that has been driving much talk of late is Jason Aldean's "Try That In A Small Town". That's a song I still haven't listened to and have little desire to.

Other country songs that have broken out since 2000 include Little Big Town's "Girl Crush", Tim McGraw's "Red Ragtop", multiple songs by Taylor Swift, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road". More songs that have broken out coming out later.

Great singer and she's an incredibly beautiful woman. 52) Faith Hill "The Way You Love Me":

53) Jason Aldean "Fly Over States":

54) Taylor Swift "Ours":

55) Little Big Town "Wine, Bear, Whiskey":

This amazing song was one of those songs that got me into Little Big Town. 56) Little Big Town "Sugar Coat":

57) Maddie and Tae "Die From A Broken Heart":

58) Carly Pearce "What He Didn't Do":

59) Toby Keith "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This":

60) Gabby Barrett "I Hope":

61) Luke Combs "Hurricane":

Now this is how to wring every ounce of emotion out of a song. 62) The Chicks "You Were Mine":

63) Kenny Chesney "The Good Stuff":

64) Trace Adkins "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk":

65) Brooks and Dunn "Red Dirt Road":

66) Brandy Clark "Stripes":

The original is amazing, sung by a bunch of legends. However this cover version is even better than the original. 67) The Highwomen "Highwomen":

68) The Band Perry "Chainsaw":

(Updated September 9th, 2023) Part 9 of 90s Earworms: 137-153

Hello,

I completed the first five of these blogs in late 2021 and early 2022. I finished Part 6 January of this year and now plan on completing a bunch more editions here in August of 2023.

Many of these songs are earworms, but eventually this blog turned into the best songs of the 1990s. I still think the 80s is the best decade for music, but these songs show the 90s was a very good decade as well. On this specific blog entry we have pop, a Santana classic, the Hip-Hop of Cypress Hill and Coolio, a Spice Girls ballad, a lot of great dance music and several classics by Metallica.

When I started working on this blog I wasn't able to add videos so I went with just song titles. But I like posting the videos also. One day later I can now add videos.

137) Alanis Morissette "Uninvited":

138) Lenny Kravitz "Fly Away":

139) La Bouche "Be My Lover":

140) Haddaway "What Is Love":
141) AC/DC "Money Talks":
142) Eve 6 "Inside Out":
