(Finished June 2nd, 2024) Part 1 of Best Songs from 1984 Soundtracks

Hello,

I watched the first Beverly Hills Cop with my son tonight. While watching that movie I realized that it came out 40 years ago this season. I told my son that this movie was when Eddie Murphy was the hottest comedian in the whole world. It still holds up pretty well, but as usual each sequel is a bit worse than the previous movie. I've seen the trailer for the fourth "Beverly Hills Cop" movie and it looks like it has some funny moments, but one of the bits was in the original "Beverly Hills Cop". It's amazing how many of these franchises are making appearances in 2024.

1984 likely was the best year for pop music of the 80s. The songs from that year's soundtracks were also pretty amazing. I'm starting with that first "Beverly Hills Cop" movie. These first five songs are from that movie.

 1) The Pointer Sisters "Neutron Dance":

2) Harold Faltermeyer "Axel F":

3) Glenn Frey "The Heat Is On":

4) Patti Labelle "New Attitude":

5) Oingo Boingo "Gratitude":

These next three songs are from "The Karate Kid". 6) Survivor "The Moment of Truth":

7) Bananarama "Cruel Summer":

8) Joe Esposito "You're The Best":

From guess which movie, yes "The Neverending Story". 9) Limahl "The Neverending Story":

These next three songs are from "Sixteen Candles" 10) The Thompson Twins "If You Were Here":

11) Billy Idol "Rebel Yell":

12) The Vapors "Turning Japanese":

This is the only song from "1984". 13) The Eurythmics "Sexcrime (Nineteen Eighty Four)":

These next two songs are from "The Natural". 14) Randy Newman "The Natural":

15) Randy Newman "Prologue":

These next two songs are from "Footloose", more on Part 2 of that blog series. 16) Kenny Loggins "Footloose":

17) Deniece Williams "Let's Hear It For The Boy":
