(Finished October 19th, 2026) Part 1 of Best Solo Songs from Members of Successful 80s Bands

Hello,

As so often I do this blog idea came to me while I was on my walk. I love 80s music and musicians. Also I don't think I have ever done of one of these blogs. I want to focus on solo songs by members of popular 80s bands. Several bands and solo stars popped into my mind. The main question is which bands should I include and not include. I know that David Bowie was in Tin Machine in the 80s, but I can't include him in this blog series. However I've decided to include John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Black Sabbath did record two CDs with Black Sabbath in the early 80s, thus I will include him.

I will include most, in not all, songs by the solo artist.

Two members of U2. 1) The Edge and Sinead O'Connor "Heroine":

These next two members were both in Genesis. 2) Phil Collins "I Missed Again":

3) Peter Gabriel "Sledgehammer":

The lead singer in Wham! 4) George Michael "Freedom '90":

The lead singers of respectively Heart and Loverboy. 5) Ann Wilson and Mike Reno "Almost Paradise":

As stated above a singer for Black Sabbath and a few other bands. 6) Ronnie James Dio "Rainbow In The Dark":

Singer and guitarist from The Beatles and Wings. 7) Paul McCartney "Coming Up":

The lead singer from The Power Station. 8) Robert Palmer "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)":

The singer from the 80s greatest new wave band, The Smiths. 9) Morrissey "Irish Blood, English Heart":

A singer for The Go-Go's. 10) Jane Wiedlin "Rush Hour":

One of the many singers from Fleetwood Mac. This is one of her more recent songs. 11) Stevie Nicks "The Lighthouse":

One of the four singers from Abba. 12) Frida "I Know There's Something Going On":

13) Donald Fagen "New Frontier":

A former singer and a back again singer of The Doobie Brothers. 14) Michael McDonald "I Keep Forgettin'":

Formerly of Adam and the Ants. 15) Adam Ant "Strip":

The bassist and drummer of U2. 16) Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. "Theme From Mission: Impossible":

The former lead singer of The Commodores. 17) Lionel Richie "Say You, Say Me":
