(Finished March 29th, 2021) Part 1 of The Best 80s Ballads: Songs 1-17

Hello,

I updated a couple of the video links and the rest of the blog on September 4th, 2022.

"Cobra Kai" Season 3, episode 10 when Ali (the still beautiful Elisabeth Shue), Daniel and Johnny all get together and I had a complete surge of 80s nostalgia. Then Journey's classic "Faithfully" started playing and the feels took over. Here are a few of the likely hundreds of great 80s ballad. Long live the pop culture of the 80s.

What a great song! 1) Journey "Faithfully":

2) Berlin "Take My Breath Away":

3)  Laura Branigan "Power of Love":

4) Peter Gabriel "In Your Eyes":

5) Whitney Houston "Greatest Love of All":

6) Whitney Houston "All At Once":

7) Whitney Houston "Didn't We Almost Have It All":

8) Whitney Houston "One Moment In Time":

Bonus non-80s video from the amazing Whitney "I Have Nothing":

All of these ballads are great, but this song is pure pop protection. 9) Roxette "It Must Have Been Love":

10) George Michael "Careless Whisper":

11) Belinda Carlisle "Circle In The Sand":

12) Will To Power "Baby I Love Your Way":

13) Patrick Swayze featuring Wendy Fraser "She's Like The Wind":

14) Danny Wilson "Mary's Prayer":

15) Stevie B "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)":

This is such a lovely melody and such a beautiful song. 16) David Foster "Love Theme From St. Elmo's Fire":

17) Debarge "Who's Holding Donna Now":

(Finished January 18th, 2021) The Best "Obscure" 70's Songs, Part 1: Songs 1-17 (But What Is Obscure?)

Hello,

What is obscure? I guess that would be any thing that you might not be familiar with. For instance I've heard The Knack's "My Sharona" many times, and it has been in movies etc, but it might be obscure to you. Even some songs on here by big named artists are obscure to me. To paraphrase I guess obscurity is in the ear of the beholder.

1) Ocean "Put Your Hand In The Hand":

Uh, some of the lyrics have been changed from the original. It hurts. 2) The Knack "Good Girls Don't":

3) Melanie "Brand New Key":

4) King Harvest "Dancing In The Moonlight":

5) Jessi Colter "I'm Not Lisa":

6) Sanford Townsend Band "Smoke Of A Distant Fire":

7) Walter Egan "Magnet and Steel":

8) The New Seekers "I'd Like To Teach The World":

9) Ides of March "Vehicle":

10) Climax Blues Band "Couldn't Get It Right":

11) Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart "I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight":

I'm sure this song is obscure for most people, that's a shame. This is one of the greatest songs ever!! 12) C.W. McCall "Convoy":

13) Albert Hammond "It Never Rains In Southern California":

14) Cheryl Lynn "Got To Be Real":

15) Billy Ocean "Love Really Hurts Without You":

16) Paul Nichols "Heaven On the 7th Floor":

17) Morris Albert "Feelings":
