themusicaddict's Greatest CDs of All-Time: Fergie's "The Dutchess" (Finished 11/10/14)

Hello,

I plan on finishing this blog on Monday, November 10th. This is the second of three parts I'm writing this blog in. "The Dutchess" was released on September 13th, 2006. It's her solo debut CD and to this day her only solo CD. Fergie obviously rose to fame with the Black Eyed Peas. With will.i.am playing a prominent role on this CD, one could argue that this is essentially a Black Eyed Peas CD. Although the Black Eyed Peas didn't find their hit making groove until Fergie joined in 2001. Their first CD with Fergie was 2003's "Elephunk", home of such songs as their break out song "Where Is The Love". The same CD also features "Let's Get It Started" and "Labor Day". The Fergie/ Black Eyed Peas collaboration has been good for both. The less said about Will.i.am's solo career is probably better for everyone.

I've never had the chance to see the Black Eye Peas or Fergie perform in concert. If their disastrous 2011 Super Bowl halftime performance is any indication I'm glad I haven't see them live.

The Super Bowl setlist:

1) "I Gotta Feeling"- starts out pretty well
2) "Boom Boom Pow"- continues to be okay
3) "Sweet Child O' Mine" Fergie with Slash and that immortal riff. So that was cool and thinking a bit outside of the box.
4) "Pump It" not so good
5) "Let's Get It Started" way too brief to keep the momentum going
6) "OMG" Usher enters the stage and the show slows down considerably as they perform that awful song.
7) "Where Is The Love"- again a good song and a good performance.
8) "The Time" (Dirty Bit) then pimping their new CD, they had to go perform this terrible song. This song is a very good song, but it's not a song the Black Eyed Peas should have ever covered. One of the few poor decisions the Black Eyed Peas made since Fergie joined forces with them.
9) "I Gotta Feeling" (reprise)

Here's the Black Eyed Peas on  The E.N.D. World Tour- in case you couldn't tell they are in Los Angeles. This concert was better than I expected, but if they would have taken out about a half-hour of filler it would have been even better.

I'll enjoy all the good Black Eyed Peas/ Fergie's music on my iPod and laptop.

Now that it's been over 8 years since Fergie's first solo CD, Stacey I think it's time for your next solo CD. Maybe songs the lines of "A Little Party Never Killed No One":

Here's the videos played consecutively:

14) "Barracuda" A blistering full on take of the Heart classic.

Bonus video: Heart and Fergie singing "Barracuda" on "American Idol":

15) "Party People" with something called a Nelly (The song is unnecessarily explicit, the swearing only detracts from the song.)

16) "Clumsy" (Collipark Remix) Featuring Soulja Boy:

17) "Labels Or Love":
