Hello,
Holy hell I'm in an 80s mood. After seeing David Bowie and Depeche Mode tribute bands and the actual Love and Rockets I've heard a lot of great 80s music live this year. Later this year I'll be seeing the Lost 80s tour which feature bands such as Wang Chung, General Public, Naked Eyes and others. And tonight I'll be seeing Duran Duran, Nile Rodgers and Chic and Bastille. With all that going on I'll be doing an 80s blog, but I desperately wanted to do something different than I've done before. Thus I Googled for the best selling 80s songs of all-time.
I normally would go to Billboard for this kind of thing, however I didn't want to pay for access for that. I continued Googling and came across a list of the most streamed songs on Apple Music. For some reason there are only 199 songs on their Top 200, that gives me the option to provide my own song at #200. There are some very unusual songs on this list, including songs I've never heard of. But that's why I wanted a list like that to force me to include songs that I don't usually share.
I'm considering coming up with a second set of blogs about songs that I can't believe aren't on this list.

Hello,
The best decade for country music, in terms of popularity, was probably the 90s. Country music absolutely exploded that decade. However Country music still has maintained a fair level of popularity in the last 23 years. Songs continue to break out. Lady A's "Need You Now" broke out in a big way. As did "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X. Then of course that song that has been driving much talk of late is Jason Aldean's "Try That In A Small Town". That's a song I still haven't listened to and have little desire to.
Other country songs that have broken out since 2000 include Little Big Town's "Girl Crush", Tim McGraw's "Red Ragtop", multiple songs by Taylor Swift, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road". More songs that have broken out coming out later.

This blog is inspired by Season 3 of "Cobra Kai", it takes me back to "The Karate Kid". That was an extremely fertile time in music, the years of 1983-1986. These are the best of the best songs for those four years. So many of these songs are from 80s movies. The first two blogs in this series have a lot of songs from movies. The other blogs also have movie related songs. I can't remember how many music videos were just basically clips of the movie that song was from. With such great 80s music and movies it was a great time to grow up.
What CDs, songs, soundtrack etc. were being released these 4 years? These were the years of "Thriller", "Purple Rain" (best soundtrack ever), "Footloose", "Pretty In Pink" (not only a great movie, but a great soundtrack that really captures the music of it's time). Also this was the era of New Wave, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Def Leppard from getting their foot into the door to when they became the biggest band in the world, "We Are The World", Live Aid, "Karate Kid" and it's great music, Also only of the funkiest CDs ever produced, David Bowie's "Let's Dance", CDs started replacing albums and cassettes as the most popular way to listen to music
Number one overall songs of 1983) The Police "Every Breath You Take", 1984) Prince "When Doves Cry", 1985) Wham! "Careless Whisper" and 1986) "That's What Friends Are For":
Number one overall albums of 1983 and 1984) Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Yes it was a monster. 1985) Bruce Springsteen "Born In The U.S.A.", 1986) Whitney Houston self-titled.
Top overall country songs of each year according to playback.fm. 1983) Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers "Island In the Stream" 1984) Julio Iglesias and Willie Nelson "To All The Girls I've Loved Before" 1985) Kenny Rogers "Morning Desire"- since I barely heard this song back in the day, I doubt this really was the 1985 #1 country song and from playlistresearch.com 1986) The Judds "Grandpa (Tell Me About The Good Old Days".
Many times I just want to go back and listen to the amazing music of the 80s, thanks for coming along.

Hello,
Today is Day the second tour stop of the Lost 80s tour, it will be held in the Sandy Amphitheatre in Sandy, Utah. Review is following.
For some reason most of the sets were shorter than on the first night of the tour. It was also an incredibly hot night. Also time to break down and set up stages may have been longer than the actual performances themselves. My suggestion for the next Lost 80's Live is to have fewer acts, have them play more songs and start a hour later. Starting later especially if it's in the middle of the summer in an outdoor venue.
Overall it was a fun experience and I was glad I did it. However, without major changes, I wouldn't need to do Lost 80s Live ever again.
Here in the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy Musical Youth played 3 songs, as opposed to the first night of the tour when they played 4 songs. That's according to setlist.fm.
Naked Eyes now only has one member, maybe he should change the name to Naked Eye?, and a crew of backup musicians. Pete Byrne is the remaining member of the original duo. For some reason on a hot night he was wearing a coat, scarf and sunglasses that didn't fit quite right. Byrne is a bit of an odd duck. He also had way too much filler in his set, "Voices In My Head" doesn't need to be stretched out. I did love the sound from his cool guitar though. There was some drama, I couldn't tell if it was real or fake, about him playing over his allotted time? But of course he has to play "(There's) Always Something There To Remind Me"!
1) "(What) In The Name of Love":
2) "Voices In My Head":
3) "Promises Promises":
This is one of those amazing songs that I played so many times back in the day that I got sick of it. 4) (There's) Always Something There To Remind Me":
General Public, still led by Dave Wakeling after all of these years, actually had a full band. Wakeling played guitar, plus they had a drummer, saxophonist, a great bassist and back up singers. This is one band that I'd be perfectly happy if they played more songs. It's really a talented collective with a lot of great songs, they didn't even play their self-titled song.
1) "I'll Take You There":
2) "Never You Done That":
This is an all-time classic. 3) "Tenderness":
This is one of those songs that you don't realize is as good as it is until one hears it again. 4) "Save It For Later":
Deservedly so Wang Chung was the headliner. Again they should have been given more songs. I would argue a four band Lost 80's live and they all can play at least five songs. Kon Kan was a great opener, then Stacey Q followed by Dave Wakeling playing all the great English Beat and General Public songs- maybe a 10 song set? And finally Wang Chung winding out the night, singing all the songs below plus the I can't believe it wasn't a huge hit "Hypnotize Me". Also they could play "Fire In The Twilight" and a couple of deeper cut. These guys act like they still like each other and it helps their set.
1) "Let's Go":
A shout out to the recently deceased William Friedkin, they worked with him on this movie. 2) "To Live and Die In LA":
3) "Dance Hall Days":
4) A cover of The Clash classic "Should I Stay Or Should I Go (which morphs into "Should I Wang Or Should I Chung:":
which morphs into 5) "Everybody Have Fun Tonight":

We found out the reason they play this song is because they are actually in the original video. That's pretty cool as we all know Bob Marley is the man. In Sandy they played "One Love", "Never Gonna Give You Up" and "Pass The Dutchie". 1) A cover of the Bob Marley classic "One Love":
2) "Youth Of Today":
Here are two incomplete videos of this song 3) "Never Gonna Give You Up":
1) "Puss 'N Boots/ These Boots Are Made For Walkin":
2) "Move To Move":
3) "I Beg Your Pardon (I Never Promised You A Rose Garden)":
Animotion only played three songs on night 2 of the tour "Room To Move", "Let Him Go" (I think) and of course the incredible earworm "Obsession". That last song is a pure moment of pop bliss.
1) "Room To Move":
2) "Let Him Go":
3) "I Engineer":
4) "Obsession":
Coming out in a Superwoman cape Shannon took the stage and performed all of two songs. There was also a lot of filler in her two songs and much of the singing was done by the very talented percussionist. They, yes it's they, performed "Give Me Tonight" and "Let The Music Play". Both songs are classic 80s jams but maybe she could have thrown in a Donna Summer cover and have a more tight set?
1) "My Heart's Divided":
2) "Give Me Tonight":
3) "Let The Music Play":
I had heard Stacey Q wasn't very good in previous Lost 80's Live performances, but she was pretty good last night. My only complaint she only played three songs and one of those songs wasn't "We Connect". In Sandy she played "Insecurity" possibly "Dancing Nowhere" and of course the classic "Two of Hearts". Stacey Q:
1) "Insecurity":
2) "Dancing Nowhere":
3) "We Connect":
4) "Two of Hearts":

Hello,
Ah the 2000s, a decade known for 9/11, the 2008 financial crash, 2003's Iraq War, a tsunami that killed over 230,000 people. There's a growing awareness of climate change, which continues to escalate.
While there were some bad things those 11 years there were also a lot of great things. Things such as Harry Potter, "The Davinci Code" (opinions may vary),
It was also the time that included Clint Eastwood's masterful "Million Dollar Baby" and that amazing performance by Hillary Swank. Also that was the year of "The Dark Knight" and "King Kong".
Obviously some of the songs of the decade are below. Some of the best CDs of that timeframe are Alicia Keys "Songs In A Minor", Ryan Adams "Gold", The New Pornographers "Electric Version", Sufjan Stevens "Illinois", Franz Ferdinand's self-titled CD, U2's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", Death Cab For Cutie's "Transatlanticism", Arctic Monkeys' "Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not", Green Day's masterclass "American Idiot", The White Stripes "White Blood Cells", Bruce Springsteen's best CD "The Rising" (you heard me), U2's "All That You Can't Leave Behind", Arcade Fire's "Funeral" and The Strokes "This Is It". Expect to see several songs from the above CDs on here.
And yes I know 2000-2010 is actually 11 years, it's okay and just enjoy the music. For those of you who think my 102 songs for the 2000s is too limiting these blogs have a lot more songs for your enjoyment.
