Hello,
The best decade for country music, in terms of popularity, was probably the 90s. Country music absolutely exploded that decade. However Country music still has maintained a fair level of popularity in the last 23 years. Songs continue to break out. Lady A's "Need You Now" broke out in a big way. As did "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X. Then of course that song that has been driving much talk of late is Jason Aldean's "Try That In A Small Town". That's a song I still haven't listened to and have little desire to.
Other country songs that have broken out since 2000 include Little Big Town's "Girl Crush", Tim McGraw's "Red Ragtop" and multiple songs by Taylor Swift. More songs coming later.
