From Wikipedia.org:
The Second British Invasion refers to music acts from the United Kingdom that became popular in the United States from the middle of 1982 [1] into late 1986, [2] primarily due to the cable music channel MTV . The term derives from the similar British Invasion of the U.S. in the 1960s. While acts with a wide variety of styles were part of the invasion, it was synthpop and new wave influenced acts that predominated.
I'm excited about seeing British Rock Royalty tonight, which is a band performing classics by the great English bands Pink Floyd, The Mighty Zep, Queen and The Who. But there were all of these other British bands that permeated America in the early 80s propelled by MTV, and let's be honest, great songs. Those songs and their visual ideas just happened to correspond with the beginning of MTV. I miss both MTV, and the good old days of wasting a summer afternoon in front of the TV watching those iconic videos. I love listening to all of these classic, not old, songs.
