Hello,
In this issue of AARP Magazine there are several mentions of great music. Ringo Starr, still going strong, is the cover story and picture. Editor Robert Love's Between Us mentions how many on his staff have music trigger memories. He mentions a few of the songs and the memories associated. I completely understand this as so many songs trigger memories.
Some of my song triggering memories include Glenn Frey's "The One You Love". I was a dumb punk kid sophomore at my high school and I asked a girl that was a senior to dance. Amazingly she said "yes" and it was an amazing experience for me.
Other song triggering memories: everytime I hear Sister Sledge's "We Are Family" I think of the 1979 World Series between the Pirates and Orioles. I was cheering for the Pirates and that song was their theme song. (Speaking of great World Series how about that Freddie Freeman ending Game 1 of the 2024 World Series hitting a grand slam.) Since I've heard so much of Randy Newman's "I Love LA" lately due to the Dodgers, it obviously makes me think of the Dodgers. I think of my ex-wife when I hear Meat Loaf "I'll Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)". For that matter Green Day's "Whatsername" and America's "Sister Golden Hair" also remind me of my ex. Lady A's "Need You Now" came out around my divorce and that song takes me back to the divorce. It took me awhile before I could listen to that song again.
More memories: Missing Persons "Words" reminds me of my first high school stomp. The Cars "Let The Good Times Roll" reminds me of my first day of high school. Dan Fogelberg's "Same Old Lang Syne" gives me both a feeling of contentment and melancholy- yeah I'm not sure how that's possible also. "Who Let The Dogs Out" and Bruce Channel's "Hey Baby" remind me of fun time at Lavell Edward Stadium in Provo, Utah.
This issue also has a great story about music and the mind. It tells about how music helps patients with dementia, how music sparks memories of long dead friends and family, how music helped Tony Bennett when he was in the throes of dementia and other amazing facts and stories.

It's funny what songs strike memories for people. I don't know that I have ever heard this song before and I'm a TMBG fan. But for this staffer of AARP magazine it brings up memories. 10) They Might Be Giants "New York City":
11) Ringo Starr "Photograph":
These next three songs were mentioned by Ringo Starr in the feature about him. However that doesn't tie me to having the Beatles versions of these songs. 12) Joe Cocker took the Beatles song and made it his own. This is how to do a cover. "With A Little Help From My Friends":
I could have went with the Beatles, Motley Crue or U2. I went with U2 as they stole this song back from Charles Manson. 13) U2 "Helter Skelter":
Such a beautiful song. 14) The Beatles "Blackbird":
