(Finished March 19th, 2022) Part 11 of Oh What Memories: Quirky and Fun Songs of the 80s Era

Hello,

What is obscure? I guess that would be any song that you might not be familiar with. For instance I've heard Madonna's "Like A Prayer" hundreds of times. It has been in commercial etc, but it still might be obscure to you. Even some songs on here by big named artists are obscure to me. To paraphrase I guess obscurity is in the ear of the beholder.

So here they are the fun, the quirky and a few heartfelt songs as well.

174) Blondie "Atomic":

175) The Violent Femmes "Children of The Revolution":

176) The Motels "Suddenly Last Summer":

177) Slow Children "President Am I":

178) OMD "Secret":

179) Rick James "Give It To Me Baby":

180) ABC "How To Be A Millionaire":

181) Thomas Dolby "Europa and the Pirate Twins"

182) They Might Be Giants "Ana Ng":

(Finished March 19th, 2022) Part 3 of The Ten Best Grunge Bands: Getting To Know L7

Hello,

Watching the show "Super Pumped", which is the story of Uber.  Three Pearl Jam songs were played in the first episode. With Nirvana's "Something In The Way" being in "The Batman" grunge seems to be having a moment. This is more likely a blip than something that will be prolonged. I've loved listening to so many great classic grunge songs in the last couple of days. Grunge wasn't around very long, but it did make an impact.  I Googled the question how long did the grunge era last? I came across the answer that it died out about 1996, That's very accurate in my opinion. This first blog is I'll be sharing songs by lesser known/ obscure grunge bands.

Spoiler alert: Nirvana is not my #1 grunge band, neither are they my #2 grunge band. In case you were wondering they're not my #3 all-time greatest grunge band either.

I don't know very much about L7, but to be a completist I listened to a lot of their songs. I quite like several of their songs and eventually realized that they might be in my Top Ten Grunge Bands. This is a getting to know L7 blog.

Probably their most well known song. 1) "Pretend We're Dead":

2) "Andres":

3) "Fuel My Fire":

4) "Slide":

5) "Monster":

6) "Fast and Frightening":

7) "The Masses Are Asses":

From the soundtrack to "I Know What You Did Last Summer". 8) L7 "This Ain't The Summer of Love":

9) "Non Existent Patricia";

10) "Scrap":

11) "Wargasm":

(Finished March 14th, 2022) Part 8 of Selected Classic Ballads

Hello,

I started watching Amazon Prime's so very good (so far) Season 1 of "Reacher". I strongly suggest you watch it. We've watched the first six episodes and continue to really like it. Jack Reacher is one of my favorite characters in modern literature. Check it out. Anyway there's a scene where Reacher was dancing with his potential lady friend, Roscoe (yes, that's her name). Patsy Cline's "Crazy" inspired Roscoe to ask Reacher to dance. They went to the dance floor and that nearly perfect song matched the romantic moment perfectly. That inspired me to work on a series of classic ballads, starting with "Crazy".

120) Bon Jovi "Always":

121) Europe "Carrie":

122) Bread "Diary":

123) James Ingram "Baby Come To Me":

124) Warrant "Heaven":

125) Cyndi Lauper "Time After Time":

126) Belinda Carlisle "Circle In The Sand":

127) Phil Collins "Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)":

128) Journey "Send Her My Love":

129) Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway "The Closer I Get To You":

130) Ambrosia "How Much I Feel":

131) Gloria Estefan "Don't Wanna Lose You":

132) Sherriff "When I'm With You":

133) Winger "Miles Away":

134) Glenn Medeiros "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You":

135) Stevie B "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)":

136) Dave Loggins "Please Come To Boston":
