(Finished January 12th, 2023) Part 21 of themusicaddict's Actual Greatest Songs Of All-Time: Top 103 Songs

Hello,

Another Greatest Songs of All-Time issued from on high by Rolling Stone magazine. I love that magazine and have been a subscriber since approximately the early 80s. I understand that a lot of people have different tastes in music. That's the way it should be, but like everyone else I have my own opinions. Just as fervently as I agree with some of their choices I also disagree with some of their choices. Currently I'm working on my Top 100 Songs of All-Time and honorable mentions. There are just some songs that I can't not include in the Greatest Songs of All-Time. I started with 100 Greatest Songs of All-Time. That has inched up to several hundred songs and will continue to rise. For this blog I'm going to focus on the actual Greatest Songs Of All Time, not the honorable mentions. These are songs that are ranked outside of my Top 100 GSOAT.

These lists are very fluid. Most of these songs could have also been in my All-Time Top 100 if only I had thought of them earlier. There are probably at least 700 songs that will always be in my GSOAT. Again these are GSOAT, just outside my Top 103 GSOAT.

I don't think I have published my actual Top 103 greatest songs of all-time, I'm starting that tonight. Why 103 songs? Why not? I was reminded of many of the below songs by perusing Rolling Stone's Top 500 songs of all-time.

There are Top 103 greatest songs of all-time- without a doubt. This is locked in stone and will not change. Now of course I'm lying. This isn't even my Top 103 GSOAT right now. That will be constantly changing as I remember songs, discover new songs, discover old songs, fall out of love with songs, fall in love with songs etc. And the number by the song is no way my personal ranking for that song.

1) Aretha Franklin "Respect":

2) Prince "When Doves Cry":

3) Michael Jackson "Billie Jean":

4) Lauryn Hill "Doo Wop (That Thing)":

The faster version is okay, but honestly I prefer the original classic version:

5) Simon and Garfunkel "The Sounds of Silence":

6) The Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter":

7) Stevie Wonder "Sir Duke":

8) Fleetwood Mac "The Chain":

9) Tracy Chapman "Fast Car":

10) Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody":

11) Beach Boys "God Only Knows":

12) George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today":

13) The White Stripes "Seven Nation Army":

14) Fleetwood Mac "Landslide":

15) Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit":

16) U2 "Sunday Bloody Sunday":

17) Prince "Let's Go Crazy":
