I started watching Amazon Prime's so very good (so far) Season 1 of "Reacher". I strongly suggest you watch it. We've watched the first six episodes and continue to really like it. Jack Reacher is one of my favorite characters in modern literature. Check it out. Anyway there's a scene where Reacher was dancing with his potential lady friend, Roscoe (yes, that's her name). Patsy Cline's "Crazy" inspired Roscoe to ask Reacher to dance. They went to the dance floor and that nearly perfect song matched the romantic moment perfectly. That inspired me to work on a series of classic ballads, starting with "Crazy".
137) Gordon Lightfoot "Sundown":
138) Manhattans "Kiss and Say Goodbye":
139) Champaign "How 'Bout Us":
140) Billy Ocean "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)":
There's no I in team, but there these songs all feature I in the title. So far 95% of the songs that I have found the I in the title is the first letter. I really have looked for songs with I in the title other than the first letter. I noticed that P!nk who doesn't used i in her name seems to have the most song titles with i in them.
18) Stevie Wonder "I Just Called To Say I Love You":
19) Michael Jackson featuring Siedah Garrett "I Just Can't Stop Loving You":
20) The Beatles "I Want To Hold Your Hand":
21) Cyndi Lauper "I Drove All Night":
22) Sara Evans "I Could Not Ask For More":
23) Tonight Alive "I Defy":
24) Kenny Chesney "I Lost It":
25) The Flamingos "I Only Have Eyes For You":
26) Chris Kenner "I Like It Like That":
27) Toby Keith "I Know A Wall When I See Him":
28) Jonathan Groff "I Know Him":
29) Frida "I Know There's Something Going On":
30) Toby Keith "As Good As I Once Was":
31) Toby Keith "I Love This Bar":
32) Joan Jett and the Blackhawks "I Love Rock N' Roll":
33) The Moody Blues "I Know You're Out There Somewhere":
I did this as mostly an exercise for myself. I wanted to see how and which 80s songs I listened to most and I didn't know what to expect. I was surprised by the #1 song. It's a great song, but how did it get to #1? This is influenced by how long the song has been on my iTunes, what concerts I've gone to see and some of the songs downloaded from my iPod twice. That's the main factor why the #1 song is the most played. It's also clear that how much I like a song has relatively little bearing on how many songs it's played.
I'm also going to post the video for the song that I would have predicted would have been my most played song if I had been asked.
I don't know that if I had heard Martini Ranch that I would have thought of this song, I do love this song. Yes that is Bill Paxton in that video, he was a member of Martini Ranch. This is such a great song, but it's pretty obscure. It only has 142,000 YouTube views. 65) Martini Ranch "Reach" Year: 1988, 42 plays:
This seems to be Martini Ranch's second most famous song and I do think it's a cool song. "How Can The Labouring Man Find Time For Self Culture?":
This is my second highest played Kenny Loggins 80s song. 64) Kenny Loggins "I'm Alright": Year: 1980, 42 plays:
But I would have guessed that "Footloose", which is my 5th most played 80s Kenny Loggins song with 15 listens:
or Danger Zone my #4 Kenny Loggins 80s song with 36 listens:
This is one of several songs that I would have thought would be my most played INXS 80s song. 63) INXS "New Sensation" Year: 1987, 42 plays:
The above song or any of the those songs below "Need You Tonight" is both the #2 and #7 most played 80s INXS song, it has 41 and 27 plays:
"What You Need" is the 6th and 10th most played INXS 80s song, it has 26 and 15 plays.
I wouldn't have had a song to pick as my most played 80s song, but "Twilight" would have been logical to me. I heard that song played for the first time in a junior high gym a million years ago. I've always loved that song. 62) ELO "Twilight" Year: 1987, 42 listens:
Other 80s ELO songs that have been played several times. Those include my # 2 most played ELO song, it has 26 listens. "Don't Walk Away":
"Hold On Tight" has 21 listens, my #3 most played 80s ELO song:
"All Over The World' has 21 listens, which makes it my #4 most played 80s ELO song:
This is both my #1 and #2 most played 80s Blue Oyster Cult song, yes it is on this countdown twice. 61) Blue Oyster Cult "Burnin' For You" Year: 1981, 42 plays:
The only other BOC song that has double digit plays is "Veterans of Psychic Wars", it has 10 listens:
60) Rick Springfield "Love Is Alright Tonight": Year: 1981, 43 plays
Like you I would have predicted that "Jessie's Girl" would be my most played Rick Springfield song, but it's actually only my fifth most played 80s Rick Springfield song. It only has 5 listens.
My second most played 80s Rick Springfield song is "Human Touch", it has 12 listens.
This is one of three AC/DC songs on this list. The song that is my most played AC/DC song is a song that doesn't surprise me at all. I will get to that later on. 70) AC/DC "Hells Bells" Year: 1980, 41 plays:
My third most played 80s AC/DC song "You Shook Me All Night Long":
My fourth most played 80s AC/DC song "Meanstreak", I'm so surprised this song has 28 iTunes listens. I mean it's a good song, but it's not even in my Top 20 favorite songs.
My fifth and sixth most played 80s songs "For Those To About To Rock (We Salute You)", it has 26 and 25 listens.
This song has 42 listens. and it's no surprise it's my most played Y&T song. 69) Y&T "Summertime Girls" Year: 1985, 42 plays:
My next highest played Y&T song is "Brothers In Arms", which has 11 listens. But there are no YouTube videos for that, so here's "Lipstick and Leather":
68) Van Halen "Unchained": Year: 1987, 42 plays
I would have predicted possibly my most played songs would have been one of these three songs. "Black and Blue", which is my second most played Van Halen 80s song with 38 listens.
This is my 11th and 12th most played Van Halen song at 24 and 22 listens. "Finish What Ya Started":
I would have also expected "Cabo Wabo" to be at least near my most played Van Halen songs. But it's only my 25th highest played Van Halen song with 12 listens.
I would have predicted that his duet with Linda Ronstadt "Somewhere Out There" would be #1, but then I remember it's not even on my iTunes. I'm not buying a whole CD for just one song. What an amazing song. 67) James Ingram "Just Once": Year: 1981, 42 plays:
James Ingram and Linda Ronstadt "Somewhere Out There":
There is no way I would have predicted that this would by my most played 80s Prince song. It's a great jam from the "Batman" movie, but it's still not the amazing "When Doves Cry".
66) Prince "Trust": Year: 1989, 42 plays:
38 listens. "Baby I'm A Star":
32 listens. "When Doves Cry":
27 listens. "Take Me With You":
26 listens "Kiss":
Almost 32 million views. 25 listens "Little Red Corvette":
Only 22 million YouTube views? That's a damn disgrace. 21 listens "Let's Go Crazy":
