Wednesday Happiness

Hello,

Today, after a long regular season, Major League Baseball playoffs begin. I have 4 teams I cheer for. It is a long and complicated story why I cheer for 4 MLB teams and I won't explain here. For those of you keeping track at home I cheer for the L.A. Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves. Three of those teams made the playoffs and all three teams start today. Unfortunately two of those teams play each other. Whoever wins the Chicago-L.A. series I think has a solid chance to win the whole thing. For sports this is a great time of year.

One more baseball note: I mispoke when I was writing about how many years the Yankees have made it to the playoffs. Before this season, the Yankees had made the playoffs 13 consectutive years. That is an amazing run but I am glad it is over. I am also glad that Joe Torre no longer manages the Yankees, he has gone to L.A. to rescue my Dodgers.

Music news, the new issue of Rolling Stone is featuring John McCain on their cover. The title of the story is "Make Believe Maverick". I have officially tired of this whole election cycle and will be glad when a rock star is on the cover of Rolling Stone again. November 4th is Election Day, so we don't have that long. Themusicaddict is officially throwing his weight (and that's a lot) behind Barack Obama. After Bush's disastrous Presidency, I don't think I can tolerate another Republican President for a long time. I apologize, that is enough of politics.

A quick political/ music note. Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel are teaming together to play in concert in support of Barack Obama's Presidential bid. This is the first time they have ever played together. They will be playing at the 2500 seat Hammer- stein Ballroom in New York City on October 16th. Tickets range anywhere between $500 to $10,000. That's just a tad out of themusicaddict's financial range. I would love to see that show though. (Thanks to rs.com)

Speaking of hot concerts, AC/DC announced yesterday that it has added several more dates to the American portion of it's upcoming concert. They have now extended their "Black Ice" tour to January 31st in Nashville. Their first 18 shows have sold out. Also a personal note to AC/DC, please come to Salt Lake City. We like excellent rock music just like any other city. Only 19 more days until their new CD comes out. October 20th will be the dawning of "Black Ice". Early reports of the CD is that it kicks butt. I know the first single "Black Ice" is pretty damn rocking. Remember this CD is going to be exclusively sold through Wal Mart. Wal Mart also has a live AC/DC DVD that is on sale now. (Thanks to billboard.com)

Finally last but least, Phish has officially announced they are reuniting in 2009. I am accepting donations to see if we can prevent that from happening.

Have a great week, themusicaddict
