The Ten Worst People at Their Jobs in Sports

Hello,

This past Sunday was the annual collapse of the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys continue to be horrid because they have some of the least qualified people in key positions. Following the Cowboys annual collapse writing this kind of blog came to mind. Fellow Cowboys fans next year isn't going to be any better. Things aren't going to be any better until the Jones family is forced to sell the team.

Starting with the worst first:

1) Jerry Jones: He leads Anthony by a considerable margin in worst person at his job in sports. The worst thing about Jones is his huge ego. Every decision he makes is to prove how much of a football genius he is. For instance, he recently announced that Jason Garrett will be back for 2014. Is it because Garrett has done a good job, hell no! It's because he's a puppet and Jones thinks if Garrett succeeds then that shows how much of a genius Jones is. Of course when Garrett fails that will truly show again why Jones is the worst at his job in sports. I love what Stephen A. Smith said on Monday's "First Take". He said if Jones hired a real coach then anytime Jones talked, Smith wouldn't want to hear what he says. He would only want to hear what a real football person says. Amen! Stop putting the camera in Jerruh's decrepit face, 99% of people could care less what he says.

The Cowboys are about $30 million over the salary cap for next season. Yes, they'll make a bunch of moves and rework a bunch of contracts to get them under the cap. However many of those moves will just push money forward into future year's salary caps. Instead of fixing the problem, he'll just push it forward.

The Cowboys strategy for success is flawed. Instead of building over a few years a solid foundation the Cowboys are built to win now. Since Dallas has only made the playoffs one of the last 6 years, you see how well the win now philosophy works. Of course the fact that Jerruh is terrible at hiring coaches doesn't help. As part of building a solid foundation Dallas would solve all their salary cap issues asap, which means they'd be bad for a couple of years. But no Jerruh prefers the win now/ hire bad coaches strategy. With this strategy it just shows me again that Jerry could care less about fielding a winning team. However he's very successful at the only thing he truly cares about, making money.

Jones needs to blow this team up and start over. The first thing he needs to do is to sell the Cowboys or no longer have someone with the last name of Jones run the franchise. A real football person needs to take over the team. Then Jones needs to shut the hell up, why does anyone continue interviewing this idiot I have no idea. It's clear he no longer cares about winning. People that really want to win make real changes, not just shuffle puppets around. Jones says he cares about winning just as much as fans do, well I can assure Jerry that you don't. This team has been a mediocre debacle for 17 years because of you.

Other than writing the checks you had nothing to do with the Cowboys winning 3 Super Bowls in the early to mid 90s. You got rid of the coach that won back to back Super Bowls, who does that? Then you've been vainly trying to show you know how to run an NFL team ever since.

Many say that fans don't have power to force change. However if the sheep stop showing up at Jerry World and stop buying Cowboys merchandise, then perhaps things will change. Real Cowboys fans need to join together and make things bad enough for Jerruh that he'll be glad to sell the team. Yes that would take a few years, but it would be worth it in the end. Even if the next owner isn't good, he still couldn't be worse than Skeletor. Thankfully Jerruh is helping the haters himself through his own idiotic decisions.

2) Carmelo Anthony: He's making almost $20.4 million this year. What do the Knicks get for that large amount of money? A so-called volume shooter who's shooting 44.7% this season. He makes a little over 9 of every 21 shots. By the way volume shooter is a nice way of saying he has to shoot a lot to get his points. What else does he bring to the Knicks: a respectable 8.8 rebounds a game, 2.8 assists a game (which I find hard to believe), 2.2 turnovers a game, a bad attitude, a lack of leadership and matador defense. Anthony is a free agent at the end of this season. If I was the Knicks not only would I let him leave at the end of this season, but I'd be actively trying to trade him before the trading deadline.

Anthony fails the Meads Metric nearly every game. He's also missed the last 3 Knicks games as he's been milking working through a sprained ankle. He used that ankle as an excuse to not play in New York's Christmas Day game, the same game that the Knicks were the victim of the worst blowout in Christmas Day games ever. Clearly he's not a team first kind of player.

3) Miles Austin: the tissue soft Dallas Cowboys wide receiver. Austin stole $5-$6 million this season from the Cowboys. Not only did he miss several games, but even when he played he was ineffective. He caught all of 24 passes for 244 yards and 0 touchdowns and many games he was close to invisible. He'll cost the Cowboys about $5.5 million in 2014, the Cowboys need to cut this bum and save them the money. For some reason Kyle Orton threw a crucial pass to a player who doesn't fight for the ball. Austin is just there for the paycheck, his body language tells you how little he cares about winning. The Orton pass was intercepted by Philadelphia and essentially ended Sunday's game. Even Austin admits that he should have fought for the ball, but he's never been known for that. He has all the competitive spirit of a wet towel and is probably glad the Cowboys lost. His job was getting in the way of his life. Again Austin is another sign of how bad of a GM Jones is. Jones fell in love with him, paid him a lot of money and Austin has been coasting since then. That same thing can be said of many Cowboys players.

4) Amar'e Stoudemire is making almost $21.7 million this season. What do the Knicks get for this money? He has okay stats, but his contract is an anvil holding the Knicks down. He's the owner of one of the worst contracts in professional sports history.

5) J.R. Smith: Will someone please explain to me how he won the 6th Man award last year? This is the same selfish player who shot 17 3 pointers in one game, he made 5. This is the same Smith who's shooting 35% this season, is he really a professional basketball player? The most surprising thing about Smith is his 3.2 assists a game, I wasn't aware that any Knick passed the ball. Of course Smith fits right in on this all about self disaster of a team.

6) Jason Garrett: He's a well paid, obedient puppet. What else needs to be said? He's 24-24 in his 3 full seasons. He's never been a head coach at any level and he shows that by his stupid mistakes. He causes the Cowboys to lose 1 or 2 games through his terrible decisions. How did he get a job in the first place?Jerry fell in love with him and wanted to show the world how much of a football genius Jerry is. Before he was head coach, Garrett was a bad offensive coordinator. Being promoted to head coach was another short-sighted move by Jones. Sure Garrett is hamstrung by Jerruh, but he needs to stand up for himself more. The Cowboys have a second place schedule next season. With a more difficult schedule, I predict that Garrett won't survive the whole season.

7) Monte Kiffin:

Statistically the Cowboys were historically bad.
  • The Cowboys allowed the second-most points (432) in franchise history.
  • The 388 first downs allowed is the most in franchise history and second-most in league history.
  • Kiffin's defense gave up 6,645 yards, the most in franchise history and third-most in league history.
  • The Cowboys' 4,589 passing yards allowed is the most in franchise history.
  • Four quarterbacks threw for at least 400 yards, a first in league history. (Thanks to ESPN Dallas.)
The Cowboys defense also allowed 415 yards a game and were the third worst defense in NFL history. The fact that he hasn't been fired already is a sign of Jones' futility and delusion as a GM. Kiffin has been living off his reputation for way too long. Kiffin was part of a staff that won a Super Bowl and has a reputation, that's exactly the kind of person that Jones falls in love with.

8) Lane Kiffin: Two words describe his tenure as USC's head coach: dumpster fire. He was fired after USC gave up over 60 points in a game. The Trojans won about 75% of their games following his firing. Like his Dad, Lane has been living off Monte's reputation way too long. I wouldn't be surprised if Lane ends up with the Cowboys next season.

9) Josh Beckett: He's the worst part of the 2012 Dodgers-Red Sox trade that helped propel the Red Sox to the 2013 World Series title. For the $17 million he earned last season, what did he provide the Dodgers? He pitched in 5 games before he was out for the season. As if that wasn't bad enough Beckett is going to be paid $17 again this season for what what will be another season of disappointment.

10) Tony Romo: He's owed $55 million guaranteed over the next three years. Again another what I'm sure is going to be a bad contract by Idiot Jerruh. Romo will be 34 and coming off two back surgeries when next season starts. Romo isn't a bad quarterback, especially in regards to stats. However he's also not a winner, which explains his 1-6 record in win or go home games. Of course like anyone else with the Cowboys, he can't be fairly judged as he plays for the team with the worst GM in all of professional sports.

It took several years to get a decent offensive line in front of him. Romo has a solid collection of receivers, too bad the wasted money for Austin couldn't go to a better, more durable player. Also Dez Bryant needs to stop being a head case. Even though he has matured, it feels that Bryant is close to yet another stupid off the field move.

Special mentions:

A) Dwight Howard would have been on this list a couple of months ago, but is actually becoming a better player. He's even making his free throws now. However he still leads the NBA in whiny looks to the refs.

B) Jay Ratliff: he faked injuries, didn't try to get back soon enough and basically forced his way out of Dallas. Do I blame him for wanting to leave the bad soap opera that is the Dallas Cowboys? No, but I do blame the way he did it. I'm actually more surprised more players aren't forcing their way out of Dallas, but maybe they've become like Jerry and only care about money now. If a player really wants to win he wouldn't stick with the joke of a franchise that is the Dallas Cowboys.

C) Mike Woodson gets a pass as he was handed this horrific team. The fact that the Knicks won 50+ games last season and made it to the second round of the playoffs is incredible.

What Does It Take For A CD To Become A themusicaddict's Greatest CD of All-Time?

Hello,

In case anyone is wondering what it takes for a CD to be one of my Greatest CDs of All-Time, here are some basic criteria. But these sort of things can change over time.

1) First of all nearly every song on the CD has to be amazing, no more than one or two filler tracks. Many CDs have 3 great songs and then a bunch of filler, by definition not a classic CD. For instance, Oasis' "Wonderwall" is one of the best songs ever, however "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?" is an incredibly weak CD.

2) To be a classic a CD doesn't have to be extremely popular or have a lot of sales. On the other hand a CD that sells a lot of copies can be very good and not just some teeny boppers crush. I'll probably never write a Greatest CD blog for a Justin Bieber CD. My last two Greatest CDs of All-Time show the contrasts that this approach can take. I wrote about AC/DC's "Back In Black" which has sold over 50 million copies by some estimates. However Supafuzz's "All About The Rock" is also an all-time classic CD. I have no idea how much in sales that CD has as they don't even have a Wikipedia page.

3) Typically greatest hits CDs won't ever be considered classics. Many of them don't feel coherent. They feel like exactly what they are: a bunch of songs picked to put on one CD to make everybody a buck. The only greatest hits CD that I can think of that qualifies as classic is Bob Marley's "Legend".

4a) Some CDs would be classic, but they add too much filler to it. The too many tracks worst example is The Motels' CD "No Vacancy: The Best of". As a greatest hits CD, it wouldn't be considered a classic anyway, but all the filler they add on would make it a non-classic anyway. The Motels have 4 or 5 great songs, but this greatest hits collection has 19 songs. Way too many of these songs are added for no reason that I can discern, many of the extra songs are terrible. If you do buy a Motels greatest hits collection, buy the one they have with Missing Persons: "Back To Back Hits by Missing Persons and The Motels". That CD gives you all the songs from both bands that you need.

4b) CDs such as Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and They Might Be Giants" can have 15 or 16 songs + and still be classic CDs.

5) Some CDs I just have to think of and know immediately it's a greatest CD of all-time. CDs like Led Zeppelin's "4", Def Leppard's "Pyromania" and Prince's "Purple Rain" are without a doubt classics. I probably would have made a blog for "Purple Rain" already, but Prince remains the only artist I know of that don't allow their songs on Youtube.

6) Some CDs I have to listen to again to see if it still is a classic CD. For instance, now I'm listening to Tina Turner's "Private Dancer", yep it's definitely a classic. Most classic CDs hold up forever, but there are some CDs that don't maintain classic status after several years.

7) Also since this is my own opinion all my personal preferences and prejudices come into play. Some CDs may be classic to only me and that's fine. Some CDs were released at just the right time in my life. and that CD fit perfectly into my life at the time. Those CD's will always be classic to me, CDs such as Milli Vanilli's "Girl You Know It's True". "Girl" reminds me of a very innocent time in my life and of the red headed beauty I had a huge crush on. And you as the reader certainly may disagree and I would like to hear your thoughts.

8) While I openly acknowledge my prejudices, I also love to discover new music. Thanks to Spotify I can listen to any CD that I think might be good. Before Spotify if I heard enough good things about a CD I could usually find a cheap copy, buy it and listen to it. That's how I fell in love with Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill". That's definitely one of the greatest CDs of all-time!

themusicaddict's Greatest CDs Of All-Time: Supafuzz's "All About The Rock"

Hello,

This blog is about Supafuzz's "All About The Rock", their second CD. I couldn't confirm 100% who the three band members are when "All About The Rock" was recorded. Supafuzz doesn't have a Wikipedia page. The best I can tell is the three members were singer/guitarist David Angstrom, Chris Leathers on drums and bassist Jason Groves. (Most of the info for this blog comes from allmusic.com.)

Sadly no one has created a video for the entire CD"All About The Rock", but this is the video for the entirety of their first album, "Supafuzz":

Supafuzz rose out of the ashes of Black Cat Bone, Angstrom was the singer in that band. In 1993 he formed Supafuzz with a couple of other people. It took a few years of hard work and a couple of line up changes before they were able to record their first self-titled CD. Gotham Records signed them to a record contract in the fall of 1998, and Supafuzz released their debut CD for them that year. A couple of years later Supafuzz released "All About The Rock", which is the perfect title for this CD. (Thanks to allmusic.com again.)

Supafuzz also recorded a third CD "Pretty Blank Page", I wasn't able to find out much about that CD. Some people say that's their first CD and some people say that "Supafuzz" is their first CD. Nearly everyone agrees that "Supafuzz" was released in 1998 and "All About The Rock" was released in 2000.

I was introduced to Supafuzz when I visited my brother and sister-in-law in Atlanta and he told me he had heard about a great rock band. He burned CD for me, neither one of us isn't a fan of bands not getting money for their music. My hope is this blog will bring a bit of attention to Supafuzz. That was my introduction to "All About The Rock" and I've been a big fan ever since. Sadly they've never been able to break out of being a regional band, I don't even know if they are still together.  allmusic.com compares them to Stain'd and Kid Rock, I prefer Supafuzz over both those artists by a wide margin.

Actually Supafuzz reminds me a lot of Nine Inch Nails. The music can go from slow to fast and back in the same song. Also thematically both bands have a lot in common, frustrated and mystified by Diety and women. NIN is the band who rhymed "God" with "flawed". There seems to be pure anger for both women and God from both bands.

Anyway this is "All About The Rock". Enjoy. (Thanks to templeofgreed for most of these videos.)

1) "Fool No More": No video available which is most unfortunate. This is one of Supafuzz's best songs and from the opening of "Fool No More" there was no doubt that Supafuzz isn't messing around.

2) "I Am The King":

"I Am The King" (Live) (Sorry the sound quality is poor.) :

3) "Sick Of It" (The lyrics will offend many people, listen to at your own discretion.) :

4) "Tonic & Cigarettes": No video available. The songs starts out slow and then builds into a mid-tempo track.

5) "Confession": No video available. "I confess my every sin, I'm embarrassed of the past. Afraid you'll see it, open wide let me in. I'll confess my every sin. I was wrong as fools can be, I survived misery." A slow burner until about the 3:02 mark when the song turns into a little more rocking briefly before going back to being a slow burner. This song has a very grungy feel.

6) "Subsonic":

7) "Arguing With God":

8) "And Then She Blooms..." No video available. Song starts out slow and then rips into a mid-tempo rager. A song whose lyrics deal with frustration with Deity.

9) "Anesthesia": Anesthesia seems to be a girl. "Anesthesia won't you come and kill me again? When you say that you're a freak, I say you're a freak. Anesthsisa won't you come and kiss me again? You say you fell apart, we're all apart of something." No video available. Typical of many songs on this CD, it starts out slowly and then speeds up a bit.

10) "Blame":

11) "We're Alright": No video available. This song is more of a straight ahead rocker.

12) "Bottomed Out":

13) "Fade":

"Fade" (Live):

themusicaddict's Greatest CDs of All-Time: AC/DC's "Back In Black"

Hello,

"Back In Black" is notable for many things, but I'm going to highlight two of those things. The first is it's AC/DC's first CD following the death of Bon Scott. Scott died at the too young age of 33, he died of alcohol poisoning during the writing of the songs for this CD. Brian Johnson became the lead singer a few months later. The second thing the album is known for is it's AC/DC's biggest album ever. "Back In Black" has sold over 50 million copies. It's also the biggest selling hard rock album and the highest selling album recorded by an Australian group. (Thanks to Wikipedia.org.)

First of all here's the full CD for "Back In Black", fire up your lighters!

Thanks to Wikipedia for the following list. This is the PMRC's list of the so-called Filthy Fifteen. From "Back In Black" at #6 is "Let Me Put My Love Into You". The PMRC was a bunch of overly worried mothers with way too much time on their hands. They were angry about rock lyrics and were married to very powerful men. The most famous PMRC member was probably Tipper Gore, the now ex-wife of former Presidential candidate Al Gore. They raised a ruckus, got a bunch of attention, sort of got what they wanted and faded away as quickly as they showed up.

The PMRC also released the Filthy Fifteen, a list of the 15 songs they found most objectionable:
#ArtistSong titleLyrical content
1Prince"Darling Nikki"Sex/Masturbation
2Sheena Easton"Sugar Walls"Sex
3Judas Priest"Eat Me Alive"Sex
4Vanity"Strap on Robbie Baby"Sex
5Mötley Crüe"Bastard"Violence/Language
6AC/DC"Let Me Put My Love into You"Sex
7Twisted Sister"We're Not Gonna Take It"Violence
8Madonna"Dress You Up"Sex
9W.A.S.P."Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)"Sex/Language
10Def Leppard"High 'n' Dry (Saturday Night)"Drug and alcohol use
11Mercyful Fate"Into the Coven"Occult
12Black Sabbath"Trashed"Drug and alcohol use
13Mary Jane Girls"In My House"Sex
14Venom"Possessed"Occult
15Cyndi Lauper"She Bop"Sex/Masturbation
Now on to one of the greatest CDs of all-time.

The first real rock concert I went to was on AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock" tour. I was such a newbie to concerts that the opening band played and I thought the concert was over. Thankfully I was with someone who knew what they were doing. Awhile later we knew that AC/DC was about to start their set when we heard the first gong of the bell, which of course is the beginning for "Hells Bells".  Of course the concert also featured an Angus Young solo, he wearing the school boy outfit and him mooning the audience. Also cannons shot off several times during the concert. Although that was one of the first concerts I ever went to, it's still one of my all-time favorite concerts.

Unlike the PMRC, my Mom realized that rock and roll wasn't going to destroy me. Not only did rock and roll not destroy me, but it has helped me maintain my sanity. I found out I was going to the concert when she came home with two tickets for me. That's one of the coolest surprises I've ever received. I was a AC/DC fan before the concert, but the concert certified me as a lifelong fan. I had the "For Those About To Rock" tour poster on my bedroom for many years afterwards.

About 1991 I saw them again, I can't remember the tour they were supporting. That concert wasn't as good as their prior concert I attended. And sadly that concert is most memorable for 3 fans dying, they were crushed near the front of the stage. Not many audience members knew that until the next day.

I don't want to give Bon Scott less than 100% respect on my blog, this is probably one of his final concerts with AC/DC. R.I.P. Bon. From 1979:

From 1981 live in Landover, Maryland. Sorry the sound quality isn't the best.

This is a concert of AC/DC at Rock In Rio in 1985:

AC/DC released "Back In Black" on July 25th, 1980. At the time the members of the band were Johnson, Angus and Malcom Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd on the drums. This CD is full of such classic AC/DC songs as "Hells Bells", "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Shoot To Thrill", "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" and of course the title song.

Just a note most of the songs on this CD are about sex. File that under the most obvious things ever category. In fact rock and roll, which is simply slang for sex, is usually about sex. Although AC/DC has a lot of songs about sex, they wrap it in metaphors. They are rarely explicit, I can't even think of a time they use the f bomb on any of their songs.

1. "Hells Bells" (I'd forgotten that this song was on this CD.) :

This is live, but the sound isn't very good. This is what I was talking about above.

Here's "Hells Bells" with a lot better audio:

2. "Shoot To Thrill" (The "Iron Man 2" version):

"Shoot To Thrill" for those of you who might find Iron Man annoying:

3. "What Do You Do For Money Honey":

4. "Givin The Dog A Bone":

5. "Let Me Put My Love Into You: (The PMRC's sixth favorite song):

6. "Back In Black" (Obviously this is a great song.) :

"Back In Black" (Live):

7. "You Shook Me All Night Long" (I love everything about this song. I love the lyrics, the feeling and of course it rocks.) :

"You Shook Me All Night Long" (live):

Another live version of "You Shook Me All Night Long":

8. "Have A Drink On Me":

9. "Shake A Leg":

10. "Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution":

"Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" (Live):

Romo Out, Orton In, Jones Continues To Be A Complete Disgrace

Hello,

Yesterday as I was finishing my latest blog about the idiocy of Jerry Jones owning the Cowboys, the news broke that Tony Romo has a herniated disc and is out for the season. That means Kyle Orton, the Cowboys backup, will be playing on Sunday. Yes, that's the same Orton who lost his job in Denver to Tim Tebow. Tebow isn't even in the NFL any more.

Now Jerry and his puppet, Jason Garrett, are saying that Romo is day to day. The main problem with that is no one else thinks that Romo is really day to day. ESPN's Adam Shefter, Chris Mortensen and NFL league sources are all reporting that Romo WILL NOT PLAY Sunday, no matter what. In all likelihood Romo's back will require surgery and at least a few months of rehab. The Cowboys have a moral responsibility to not allow Romo play, no matter how much he may want to play. His life long health should be Jerry's only concern, especially when Dallas will probably lose Sunday anyway.

ESPN is reporting that sometime after the Cowboys arrived back in Dallas that Romo had an epidural. He received that "to relieve pain and reduce inflammation related to the herniated disc in his lower back". Does that really sound like a player that might play Sunday? But yet Jerruh keeps blabbering that Romo may still play.

Of course this could be just simple gamesmanship, but Jerry or Jason isn't fooling anyone. The Eagles are practicing for Kyle Orton, come on let's be realistic. Jerry lives in a fantasy land called Jerry World, in this world whatever Jerry says is true. So when he has to face actual reality, he thinks the real world will bend to what he thinks. So Jerruh may even believe the drivel that's coming out of his mouth, but that doesn't mean that Romo will actually play.

This is what is coming from a couple of Eagles: "I don't care," cornerback Cary Williams said. "Jerry Jones could suit up. Jason Garrett could suit up. Suit 'em up. It doesn't matter to me. We're here to contend for the playoffs. We're here to win the Super Bowl. We're on a mission and they're in our way. Period."
"For us, it doesn't matter who plays," inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans said. "We're going there to beat that team."
Some people are suggesting that Jerry is trying to pressure Romo to play no matter what his health is. I don't think I would go that far, but it's also not completely out of the realm of possibility. Jones is desperate to show his way is the right way, although the last 17 years of futility clearly shows its not. But again when Jerry visits Jerry World, reality goes out the door. Only Jerry and his minions (although not the cute minions) believe he knows what he's doing.

Jones has been such a disgrace as a human being and alleged football person. His reign as Cowboys owner is marked by bad moves, in both coaches and players, sticking with ideas that simply don't work and many other embarrassing decisions.

Up to a couple of years ago I use to be the biggest Cowboys fan in the world. I loved everything about the 'Boys and my oldest son is named after the great Emmitt Smith. I lived and died with the Cowboys, I stuck with them through 1-15 and loved the Super Bowl years. I've stuck through them through the continuous terrible moves of Jones and through him continuing to ruin his own franchise. Up to the last couple of years I bought into all the hype he spewed about the Cowboys. Each year I really did believe that that year would truly be "the year".

But two or three years ago I started to realize that Jerry will say anything to get people excited about the Cowboys. When people get excited they'll spend money. I realized that Jerry's #1 priority isn't winning, it's all about making money. If he truly cared about winning he would make real changes. For instance he would hire a real GM and give him full power. Jones would also stop hiring puppets as coaches, only an idiot of Jones caliber would hire both Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett. Then to confirm his idiocy, he stuck with both long after they showed they aren't meant to be head coaches. Phillips has one playoff win and Garrett's teams have never even made the playoffs. But Jones and his ego are desperate to show he knows what he's doing, so he sticks with his puppets.

But the honeymoon is over, things have got so bad that I now actively cheer against the Cowboys. In fact every time Jerry opens his idiotic mouth I hope that the Eagles win by more on Sunday night. I'd love to see the Eagles hang 54 points on this Cowboys team, that's something that certainly isn't out of the question. I would like the sheep fans who still attend the games to boo these Cowboys and Jerry. I wonder when more players are going to be like Jay Ratliff and force their way out of Dallas.

Now I've never been a big fan of Romo and I hated that idiot Jones signed him to a 7 year-$108 million extension that starts next season. But one thing you can't question about Romo is his toughness. He's played through many injuries, including cracked ribs that should have kept him out.

I appreciate that Tony, but you need to consider yourself first Tony. Grab Sean Lee and both of you take the rest of the season off and heal 100% before even starting to practice again. And Sean you may seriously want to think about quitting football. You are a man and a great football player, I just don't think your body is built to be a NFL player. There's no shame in that, you received a degree from Penn State. Take that and build a nice life for yourself and not worry about having life long injuries to deal with.

I loved what a commenter on ESPN's message boards said yesterday. He suggested that Jones is loving this news because he can remain in the spotlight. I wouldn't doubt that at all, Jones has clearly fallen in love with himself and the camera.

ESPN, and all other media sources, I ask you to please stop putting a microphone in Jones face. The man will do and say anything he can to get in the spotlight. Please stop giving him a forum, don't act like everything he says is relevant. Jones is on the slippery slope to senility and hasn't said anything interesting for several years now.

What I want to know is when can the NFL step in and make the Cowboys make changes? I know the Cowboys are a huge cash cow for the NFL and money talks in corporate America. But still there's got to be a point where the NFL will force a change when an owner has embarrassed himself and his franchise constantly.

Once this ass clown gets forced out I'll start cheering for the Cowboys again, I'll start living and dying with the Cowboys again. I'll start buying Cowboys merchandise again. I would love to see the Cowboys win one more Super Bowl in my lifetime. But quite simply with this idiot owning the team, I simply can't cheer for the Cowboys.

Why am I so fired up about this you may wonder? I'm so tired of the damage that Jones has done to this once great team. Every time he says something stupid, which is constantly, by default Cowboys fans are painted with that same brush. Jones is an embarrassment to all of Cowboys nation.

(Updated August 17th, 2020) themusicaddict's Get Jerry Jones Far Away From My Beloved Cowboys Playlist.

Hello,

Updated August 17th, 2020: Meet the new Cowboys, same as the old Cowboys. How will the Cowboys bungle this season? It's not if, it's when. Well that is if there's even a season.

I've written blogs like this before and in those blogs I've used some of the same songs as I will on this blog. But if the shoe still fits......

At this point in Jerry Jones horrendous ownership of the Cowboys, I don't think the real Cowboys fans still support him. What he has done to the Cowboys is simply disgraceful. Yesterday the Cowboys were able to beat the terrible Redskins, a game the Redskins gift wrapped for the Cowboys to win. If I didn't know better, I'd suggest the Redskins wanted to lose that game. Mike Shanahan going for a two point conversion when he should have just gone for the 1 point conversion. Terrence Williams getting behind the Redskins cornerback, something that should never happen in the NFL. And allowing the Cowboys to convert on two fourth downs on their final drive.

It made me sick seeing Jerry Jones gloating over the Cowboys win after the game. I was hoping that Dallas lost yesterday. With the Eagles win later in the night, that would have made this Sunday's game meaningless. The Cowboys, who look like crap when they have something to play for, would be even worse when they were just playing out the string. Greedy Named Stadium would have been a lot less festive and the game would have stayed an early game.

Jerry wouldn't have been able to besiege us with his illiterate ramblings as much. The one consolation I took in yesterday's victory is that the Cowboys won in spite of all of Jerruh's meddling. Even Jerruh, the most famous snake oil salesman ever, wouldn't have been able to spin a loss to the terrible Redskins into something good. Dallas would have been out of the playoff chase.

To anyone still on the Cowboys bandwagon, I say "All aboard":

"The Jerry Jones Parody Song" (was hoping for a bit more humor):

Mocking the Dallas Cowboys set to "Starboy":

Even "Taylor Swift" has an opinion about the Cowboys, a team that has become a pathetic franchise. The song "We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back To The Playoffs" is right on so many counts. We aren't that many steps above the Browns now. I especially love the line "the football process much cooler than a win" said with the full Swiftian sarcasm voice. I can't find the original video, but this will do.

Here's a youtube.com video of the Cowboys choking in the 2008 playoffs. The sad thing about this video is how little has changed with the Cowboys since then. Jones is still the owner and chief decision maker. The head coach has changed from one puppet to another, Wade Phillips to Jason Garrett. The offensive coordinator at the time was none other than Garrett, who probably called that final pass that was intercepted. And of course it was Romo who threw that interception. Other than Phillips all those fools are still in Dallas. No wonder the Cowboys still suck in 2013 and probably for many years going forward.

The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again". Paraphrasing here a bit: "meet the old boss, who's the exact same old boss that got us in this mess." The title of this song is perfect, because many Cowboys fans still buy into Jerry's lies and how he spins things every year. Many fans continue to get fooled, which is how I was for the longest time. Thankfully I've seen the light now!

Jerry when you start from nothing, what else do you expect to end up with? Jerry is the master of making money, but when it comes to football he's a complete idiot. Instead of competing for the Super Bowl, the Cowboys can't even make the playoffs. That goes back to all of YOUR bad decisions in selecting players and coaches. Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett, a way past his prime Monte Kiffin, need I go on? Well I'm not going to, many of these idiots you've hired bring too many bad memories to mind. Billy Preston says it best when it comes to your GM "skills",
"Nothing From Nothing":

What else can be said about reign of mediocrity Jerry.  Men At Work say it best: "It's A Mistake":

After another debacle of an offseason by you Jerruh, Cowboys fans are always.... "On The Edge Of A Broken Heart":

Even with Jerruh's heavy handed ways and poor decision making, I have good news fellow Cowboys fans. We have the power to force the Jones to sell. I'm not going to lie, it's going to take a lot of effort, time and coordination between fans. When us fans stop showing up to Jerry World and stop buying anything with a Cowboys logo on it, we can affect real change. If Jones starts losing money, he'll be less interested in ruining owning the Cowboys.

Just remember Cowboys fans, we have "The Power"! Here's Snap to fire up real Cowboys fans who want meaningful changes with the Cowboys, starting with getting a new owner. We want an owner that's more concerned with winning than putting on "a show". Real Cowboys fans are sick of seeing Skeletor in the paper and on TV. I'm not sure why he wants attention for doing such a horrible job, after 17 years of mediocrity you can't call it anything else. He's the Randy Jackson of NFL owners.

Jerry knows that once he sells the Cowboys no one will care about his opinion any more, not that many of us do now. I wish ESPN would stop giving Jones a platform. He hasn't said anything intelligent for years, it's hard to believe how a college graduate can speak so poorly.

Remember fans we have "The Power":

A Quick Review of Stephen King's "11/22/63" (Small Spoilers)

Hello,

Stephen King by far is one of my favorite authors, he has written many of my favorite books over the last several years. I've read about 90% of his books. When I was in high school I turned my nose up against his books, until I actually read one. The first King book I read was "Christine", ever since then there's been no turning back. Besides "Christine", other King books that are my favorites include "It", "The Dark Tower" novels, "Hearts In Atlantis", "Firestarter", "The Stand" and "Pet Sematary". I also love the short stories that are used as the basis for "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Stand By Me".

One thing I like about King's novels is how many of them are so long, I love getting lost in a great story. I love them most when I don't read them too quickly, that's as the story can soak into my mind. It gives me time to think things through and come to my own conclusions. That makes the reading of the book even more enjoyable.

I do realize that "11/22/63" has been out for several months, but I just barely got around to finishing reading it a couple of days ago. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give this book a solid 7. King certainly picked one of the most interesting times in history to base a book around. All of the coincidences that resulted in where Oswald was on the fateful date are a chapter in history by themselves.

One of the criteria I use to judge the quality of any entertainment media is the ending. I was less than enthused by the ending to this book. I was glad that Jake and Sadie ended up together, although it wasn't exactly the way I preferred. Overall the end left me blasé. King said his son, the excellent author Joe Hill, suggested an ending to King that King went with. I wish Hill would have suggested a different ending. One of the good things about the ending is that it isn't a story book ending, it's a very realistic ending.

As always I like King's characters- everyone from Jake and Sadie to the beleaguered Marina, Deke, Al Templeton and even the Jump rope girls. While reading Jake feels very relatable to me, we have enough in common that I understand his mindset. I know Jake didn't like doing the final reset to fix all of the butterfly effects his stopping of JFK's assassination made. I understand why in the final reset he didn't make the changes he had made previously. He allowed all the things he had fixed before to remain as they were originally: JFK dying and the little girl accidentally shot etc.

I do love King's writing style, the way he weaves historical details in his fiction. I can almost see the dumpy apartments Oswald, Marina and June lived in leading up to the assassination of President Kennedy. One can feel the desperation seeping from the walls of those apartments. I can also feel the quiet desperation of Oswald, who seems to think he had a date with destiny. He did have a date with destiny, but I'm sure he was surprised by how quickly it ended at the hand of Jack Ruby.

Of course since "11/22/63" is fiction I took all the historical details with a grain of salt, although King does say he was trying to make those details accurate. King's portrayal of Lee Harvey Oswald is less than flattering, I was wondering if he really was such a bad guy. I was intrigued enough to pick up Norman Mailer's "Oswald's Tale: An American Mystery" from the library. I read about the first 30 pages, which mostly is about Marina, and I don't know how much more I'm going to read. I'm not a big fan of Mailer's writing style in this book.

(Finished August 17th, 2020) Songs Rocking themusicaddict's iPod, December 2013

Hello,

I'm updating this blog and replacing expired videos on August 17th, 2020. Some of these songs I haven't heard for awhile and some of these songs I've heard more recently. My blogs were much shorter 7 years ago. By the way I'm still using that same iPod- Apple has the best products.

These are a few songs that have been rocking my iPod/ life of late:

Rush's "Distant Early Warning": ("But I've seen the tip of the iceberg and I worry about you.")

I forget how great this song is until I hear it again, definitely one of the all-time best songs ever. Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" David Thoener Remix from "Armageddon" ("I pulled into town in a police car, your daddy said I took you just a little too far."):

"Rainbow Tour" from 1995's "Evita" featuring Madonna, Jonathan Pryce and Antonio Banderas: ("But if you're prettier than General Franco, that's not hard.")

Rooney's "Sorry Sorry" ("I'm sorry sorry for making your life a living hell".):

Yet another one of the greatest songs of all-time. The Zombies "Time of the Season" ("What's your name? Who's your daddy? Is he rich (is he rich) like me?):

Whitesnake's "Slow N' Easy": ("My heart is beating faster babe, it's beating like a big bass drum.")

R.E.M's "Drive": ("Hey kids where are you, no one tells you what to do.")

Yeah, I've been going through a big time disco phase of late, so you know there was going to be at least one disco song on this blog entry. This is the amazing Bee Gees "Jive Talkin'": ("No one believes what you say, it's just your jive talking that gets in the way.")

Breaking out from the Clash is Big Audio Dynamite and this is "Rush". ("If I had my time again, I would do it all the same. And not change a single thing even when I was to blame.")

In This Moment's "Whore": ("You probably thought I wouldn't get this far. You probably thought I would end up in the back of a car.")

Loverboy "Can't Get Much Better": ("Burn down to the ground, we got a volatile situation. Going rock tonight, we're going to get it right. But It couldn't be better, couldn't be better. It can't get much better than this.")

Peaches and Herb's Top Ten + 1 Greatest Hits

Hello,

This is probably one of the most obscure musical duos I've ever written and I find that a bit sad. Peaches and Herb had many great songs and would definitely be listed in my Top Ten Disco artists of all-time. Before I started listening to their music a few days ago, I would have only been able to come up with "Reunited" as a Peaches and Herb song.

As I've been going through my Disco phase lately I've checked out many Disco artists. Artists like Chic, who come with a great reputation and pedigree, is essentially a two hit wonder. When I think of Village People I can think of a few great songs right off. Surely they have more great songs, right? Sad to say after those great songs, the rest of their music is basically filler. Diana Ross has a few good songs from her Disco phase, but not enough to put her in the Disco pantheon. I've been surprised by how few truly great Disco artists there were. It was basically Donna Summer, The Bee Gees and a bunch of one or two hit wonders. I'm next going to check out Earth, Wind and Fire, but after those mentioned in this paragraph very few Disco artists had much of an impact.

That includes today's featured artist, Peaches and Herb, they made relatively little impact on Disco specifically but that was just one small part of their career. In DigitalDreamDoor.com's Top 100 Disco artists list, they aren't even listed. I'm highly dubious of their list, neither Billy Ocean or Lionel Richie had any Disco hits. None of Peaches and Herbs songs, including "Shake Your Groove Thing" is on DDD.com's list of Top 100 Disco songs.

"Peaches & Herb were an American vocalist duo, once comprising Herb Fame (born October 1, 1942) and Francine "Peaches" Hurd Barker (April 28, 1947 – August 13, 2005). Herb has remained a constant in "Peaches & Herb" since its creation in 1966, while seven different women have filled the role of "Peaches." (Thanks to Wikipedia.)

As you can see Peaches and Herb were an established duo before Disco came around, they've had hits since the 60s. Like many other artists, they took full advantage of the Disco music to extend their career and influence.

If people were more familiar with how great their music is, I truly believe they would get much more recognition. Before I  listened to Peaches and Herb I thought they would have two or three great songs and a bunch of filler. I was pleasantly surprised that they have several good songs, they easily have enough great songs to make a Top Ten. Here are Peaches and Herb's greatest hits + 1. Since Peaches and Herb are relatively obscure a few of their songs aren't available on Youtube. Here's Peaches and Herb's "Reunited", this album has many of their classic songs on it:

+1) "Hearsay": not available on Youtube.

10) "Funtime":

9) Peaches and Herb mastered the art of the ballad, they almost have as many great ballads as the great and incomparable Whitney Houston. This is one of their many great videos, "Bluer Than Blue":

9) "(I Want Us) Back Together":

8) "Love Is Strange":

7) Peaches and Herb mastered the art of the ballad, they almost have as many great ballads as the great and incomparable Whitney Houston. This is one of their many great videos, "Bluer Than Blue":

6) This great songs is a Peaches solo track and she does quite well on her own. "Time After Time":

5) "Love Stealers":

4) Another great ballad "Child of Love":

3) "Pledge My Love":

2) "Reunited" (What an amazing and beautiful ballad.):

1) "Shake Your Groove Thing" (great song, but this ranks high on the unintentional comedy scale:
the corniness of "Solid Gold", funky clothes and terrible lip synching and that incredibly stupid fake laser sound.)

Jerry Jones: Have You Done Enough Damage Yet?, It's Time for You To Go (Updated December 18th, 2013)

Hello,

Mr. Jerry Jones,

You've turned this once glorious team into a shell of itself. Instead of America's Team, the Cowboys are now America's Sham. Please stop trying to shift the blame for your poor decisions to anyone else. I love when reporters ask you about the status of Jason Garrett. How about the status of the delusional GM? I wish a reporter would man up and ask you when you are going to get a real GM and that you get the hell out of the way? Until you realize this team is bad because of your poor decisions, it won't go anywhere at all. It's too bad you've surrounded yourself with yes men and family that won't tell you that you need to step away from football decisions. Only an idiot or the willfully ignorant can't see after 17 years of mediocrity that you have no clue what you are doing.

Sunday's loss to Green Bay was Karma's way of telling you that it's time to sell. The loss yesterday exposed all your weaknesses as a GM. The loss was a result of your idiotic philosophy and lack of knowledge about football. I'm sure you are wondering how it is your fault. Well let me give you a few examples.

Who's your head coach? Jason Garrett, before he became Cowboys coach, how much head coaching experience did he have? That's right none, he hadn't been a head coach at any level ever!  His biggest calling card was the Cowboys offensive coordinator. His first season he was great in that role, but the NFL figured him out quickly. Once that happened he became a mediocre offensive coordinator. After your previous puppet Wade Phillips players gave up on him, Garrett was promoted to head coach. How did you reward Garrett for being a mediocre offensive coordinator, by promoting him. How has that worked out for you? As a Cowboys fan, it hasn't worked out at all for us. (Garrett replaced the terrible Phillips, a coach that did have playoff experience. However he hadn't won a playoff game before joining the Cowboys. He coached the Cowboys to one playoff win, which is your only playoff win in the last 17 years! Just a year or so later the team fell apart, with Phillips as your coach, what else would you expect?)

In the last day or so Garrett was trying to defend the atrocious play calling in Sunday's game against the Packers. Instead of running the ball and eating up clock, the Cowboys instead preferred to pass the ball. What happened: a bunch of incompletions (which stops the clock), two drive killing interceptions and ultimately the first loss when the Cowboys lead by about 20+ points in 43 instances of that. With that as the result how could anyone defend those play calls? Fortunately for Jason Garrett's job status, which is unfortunate for real Cowboys fans, Jones is even more delusional than him.

But again your football ego Jerry is tied to these "great" people you find. When Garrett succeeds, as you still expect, then you believe that people will think you are a football expert. Jerry I hate to tell you this, but still no one will think you are a football expert. As of right now Garrett is 28-26 as head coach, that tells us all we need to know about his coaching ability. His record could have 4 or 5 more victories if he hadn't badly mismanaged several games. Jerry, that tells us how bad you are picking head coaches. Other teams continue to laugh at Dallas because of your ridiculous decisions. Even a broken clock is right twice a days, as of now you're barely doing better than a broken clock in your torturous tenure as GM.

Fire Garrett or not, does it matter? No not at all because even if you do fire him, you'll just hire another puppet. As ESPN's Mark Schlereth says it doesn't matter who the coach is until you empower him. The two best coaches for Dallas were the ones who were in control of their teams, Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells. Those two coaches are also those that listened to you the least, which means for you that they had to go. Only a delusional idiot would force out a coach after he won back to back Super Bowls. Read that last sentence again! Johnson and Parcells were leaders, something that Garrett obviously isn't. The rest of your head coaching hires have been horrid.

Other than you Jerry I don't think anyone can defend your hiring of Monte Kiffin. His cover 2 has been a disaster this year. Combine that with poor drafts and your love of injury prone players, that has left the Dallas defense with many holes.

You traded two picks to be able to move up in the draft and get Morris Claiborne, he's missed 5 of the last 7 games. We find out on Tuesday he's going to miss this week's game. Even when he's on the field he hasn't been playing well. Isn't he the same player who had the worst ever score at the NFL combine in the intelligence testing? When asked to explain why, he said he didn't care. Yeah, that's someone I would draft. And you Jerry gave up two picks to trade up and get him. I understand Jerry that you are still convinced that this was the right move.

What other bad decisions have you made with the defense? The whole Josh Brent debacle, he kills his friend, another Cowboy, in a drunk driving accident and you keep him on the team? The only reason he's no longer on the team is because he retired. A few months later Jay Ratliff gets in a drunk driving accident and you still keep on the team? Even though he's obviously dissatisfied with playing with the Cowboys you don't release him in the offseason. Instead he eventually forces his way out through exaggerating how injured he is. That results in more dead money for the Cowboys. A couple of weeks later he plays for Bears against your Cowboys, what does that tell you Jerry? Frankly I'm surprised more players haven't forced their way out.

Of course Jerry you love your injury prone players, they take up many spots on your roster. One of those players is Sean Lee, he's been injury prone since playing at Penn State. I'm guessing you drafted him in hopes he'd turn into a stud football player and you thought it would make you look like a genius. When Lee is playing it helps hide a bit how much of a bad GM you've been. Unfortunately when he misses games, which he does each season, it makes you look like a complete idiot. I think Lee missed the last 11 games last season. He's already missed 3 or 4 games this season and honestly at this point he should be shut down for the season. He's a great player when healthy, too bad he's healthy only about half of the time.

You paid $50.1 million to Brandon Carr, has he been worth that much money? No! What the hell has happened to DeMarcus Ware, he's a shell of his former self. Even the very durable Ware has missed 3 games this season. Although when he's played, he's been largely ineffective. Anthony Spencer played all of one game this season. Justin Durrant is on IR and will miss the rest of the games this season. Bruce Carter has missed games. And that's just on the defense. (Don't even start me on the tissue soft Miles Austin- when are they going to start calling a hamstring injury a Miles Austin?) It's too bad the Cowboys gave up multiple picks for busts such as Roy Williams and Morris Claiborne. Then Jerry thinking he's a genius traded two picks for current center Travis Fredericks. He has been a good player this season, however the Cowboys could have probably had him in the second round without giving up anything. That could have been a pick that should have been used on a defensive player. How has that pick of Gavin Escobar worked out? He's a poor blocker and has I believe he has all of 7 receptions this season. You don't think you could have used that pick to bolster your pathetic defense?

On Wednesday, December 18th 7 players missed practice due to injury. Terrance Williams is the 12th player that's battling with a hamstring issue. He joins the following players: Sean LeeJustin DurantMorris ClaiborneDwayne HarrisBruce Carter, Barry ChurchMiles AustinDanny McCrayLance DunbarDez Bryant and Gavin Escobar(Thanks to dallascowboys.com)

Of those players Lee, Durrant, Harris and Carter might not play. Claiborne has already declared himself out this week and Dunbar is out for the season. And the tissue soft Austin will be his usual ineffective self. Hey Jonesy, you're doing a helluva a job!

I don't understand why more players aren't like Jay Ratliff and forcing their way out of Dallas. It's time for players like Jason Witten to go elsewhere so they can win something. With you in charge Jerry, they aren't ever going to win anything! Does Tony Romo wish he hadn't signed that long term contract this last off season? He would have been a free agent at the end of the year, he could have chosen to go a well run organization. At what point will players realize that they can't overcome your many bad decisions Jerry?

Jerry if I were you, I'd start worrying about my legacy. When you die sure you'll get credit for winning 3 Super Bowls- even though those wins have much more to do with Johnson and those great players. But let me ask you this question, do you think Cowboy fans will miss you? Do you think fans will long for the good ol' days when you were owner? In case you don't know the answer to either question, it is no and hell no. In fact many fans are hoping you die or become incapacitated in some way so that you'll stop destroying the Cowboys.

Jerry you've done enough damage to what once was the NFL's best franchise. It's time for you to sell and let Cowboy fans have someone who knows what they are doing in charge. Most of us who remember the glory days would like to see the Cowboys win at least one more Super Bowl, with you in charge that will never happen. This will be the 4th straight year the Cowboys won't even qualify for the playoffs! And in 2013 they are playing in the terrible NFC East. The first place team in the NFC East, the Eagles, just allowed 48 points to the Vikings who weren't playing with Adrian Peterson. Dallas has one less game than that team.

This blog was going to be much longer, but I'm just tired of this same old shit. Until one of your yes men grow a spine and speaks up, every Cowboys fan knows that you'll remain GM. No matter how bad of a team you put on the field, you never seen to understand how bad of a job you've done. I know that you like make others your scapegoat- hey how's it going Rob Ryan? But this team is in shambles because of your idiotic decisions. Please step away Jerry before you turn this team into the Browns.

From a lifelong Cowboys fan but someone that hates what you've done to America's Team.

Why The Dearth of Classic Disco Albums?, Kool and the Gang's Greatest Hits

Hello,

For some reason this weekend I've been in a Disco phase, I've been enjoying many of Disco's greatest hits. There are so many great Disco songs, but almost no great Disco albums. If you don't believe me then Google Disco's greatest albums. There's not many links for that subject on the internet and the rankings that I found are highly dubious. In fact I was going to create my own list of greatest Disco CDs, but honestly there's not enough great Disco CD's to make a list of suitable length.

I really wanted to write a blog for a greatest all-time Disco CD, but there's just no Disco CD that qualifies to be a musicaddict's Greatest CD of all-time. If you would like to make a nomination, I'd be glad to check it out. However I'm very dubious that I would consider it a classic.

The closest thing to a classic album is the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack, but for some reason it's just not classic songs. It has some filler on it. What other Disco albums would be considered classic?

Diana Ross' "Diana" has the fantastic songs "I'm Coming Out" and "Upside Down" I also like "My Old Piano". However there's more filler than classic music.

I want to clarify up front, I'm a huge Donna Summer fan. Is her "Bad Girls" a classic CD? Any CD that which features the songs "Bad Girls", "Hot Stuff", "Dim All The Lights" and "Sunset People" should be considered at least a great CD. I'd give credit, but I can't remember where I read the following: Summer's voice really shines on the ballads on this CD. And that is true, but sadly many of those songs just aren't that good.

Is the Bee Gees "Spirits Having Flown" a classic? With such songs as "Tragedy", "Love You Inside Out", "Too Much Heaven" and "Spirits (Having Flown)", that's certainly a great start. The same thing that keeps so many other Disco albums from classic status is what keeps this CD from classic status. Simply once again there's just too much filler.

The musicians that thrived during Disco, seemed to fade away once it's influence waned. The Bee Gees and Donna Summer remaining superstars pretty much ended when Disco died. (Although I was surprised by how much I liked Summers' recent CD "Crayons"- it has a very modern Lady Gaga dance feel to it.) Although those two artists faded away, and sadly many of them have died, their music is still around. Songs like "Tragedy" and "Stayin' Alive" are such as good of songs now as they were in the midst of the 70's Disco craze.

Earth, Wind and Fire had a few great songs, but they were spread out over a few CDs. Same with Chic, Village People and KC and the Sunshine Band. Maybe after I do a bit more research I'll change my mind.

It seemed anyone that was a music star in the 70's went through a Disco phase. The already established music stars were the musicians that were the most enduring. Artists like Cher, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart and The Commodores took full advantage of disco, but weren't defined by it. Most of their careers lived on for many years afterwards.

One band that certainly had some classic Disco songs, but also lived on beyond Disco was Kool and The Gang. In the following link Kool and the Gang is rated the number 4 Disco band of all-time, but look who's after them. http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_disco-artists.html. That's not a whole lot of depth for the Disco genre. Honestly number 4 is probably higher than I would rank them, however Kool and the Gang have many great songs. They are one of the bands that took full advantage of Disco, but weren't defined it. Here I'd like to include a few of my favorite Kool and the Gang songs.

'Fresh":

A song I hadn't heard before today, but I really like, "Misled":

"Ladies Night":

Bring on da funk! "Get Down On It":

"Jungle Boogie":

"Celebration":

The incredibly sexy "Too Hot" (From 2009 in Montreaux):

"Cherish":

"Joanna":
