Hello,
As much as possible I tried to locate true one hit wonders, meaning having only one song in the Top Ten. And some of these musicians had multiple country hits, I'm focusing on songs that made the Top Ten in the Billboard Hot 100. Thanks to Ranker.com for the idea for this blog.
1) Van McCoy "The Hustle":
2) Robert John "Sad Eyes":
3) Henry Gross "Shannon":
Also this song only went to #12, that's just not right!! He should've had two Top Ten hits. 4) Nick Lowe "Cruel To Be Kind":
Bonus song: The above song should have been his first Top Ten and this should have been Lowe's second Top Ten song "I Knew The Bride When She Used To Rock and Roll":
5) Carl Douglas "Kung Fu Fighting":
One of the saddest, and best, songs of the 70s. 6) Michael Martin Murphey "Wildfire":
7) Starland Vocal Band "Afternoon Delight":
8) Tom Clay "What The World Needs Now Is Love (Abraham, Martin and John)":
9) Randy Van Warmer "Just When I Needed You The Most":
10) First Class "Beach Baby":
11) Patrick Hernandez "Born To Be Alive":
12) Minnie Ripperton "Lovin You":
13) M "Pop Muzik":
14) Red Sovine "Teddy Bear":
15) The Hillside Singers "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing":
16) John Sebastian "Welcome Back":
This is a pretty cool song although the video isn't quite as cool. 17) Paul Nicholas "Heaven On The 7th Floor":
