Hello,
For some reason when "Battlestar Galactica" originally was on I was not interested in watching it. I'm not sure why, as any other true nerd I absolutely love and enjoy sci-fi. For instance, I still say "Star Wars" is the greatest movie ever made. Looking back now it seems that "Battlestar Galactica" was right up my alley. All that being said I never got in to it when it was originally shown. It was only a couple of years ago that I started getting into it and realized how much I had missed.
I went back and read the blogs I wrote about "BSG" and realized that was almost exactly two years ago. I thought that was strange. I'm still not a great writer, but I'm much better than I was two years ago. Thanks to all of those who read my really rough blogs from when I started. Hopefully in two years from now, I'll have improved that same amount again. Unfortunately I just don't have that writing gene like my ex-wife does.
Anyway thanks to my friends at Blockbuster I'm very slowly watching the whole series of "Battlestar Galactica". Over the past couple of days I've watched four episodes of Season 2. I've seen Season 2, episodes 5-8. The episodes are titled "The Farm", "Home (Part 1), "Home (Part 2), and "Final Cut".
While this show does have some slow spots and the filming of the fight scenes are a bit chintzy, for the most part this is great fiction. The action compliments the story not the other way around. I love in the "The Farm" episode how the cylons were trying to impregnate Starbuck. Obviously she wasn't having any of that. This is right in line with Starbuck's character. She definitely would rather kick the cylons ass rather than have their babies. Katee Sackhoff plays Starbuck as a very tough, yet tantalizing sexy, human. She's very much a human and brings a great deal of humanity to "BSG". Starbuck also adds much needed humor to this show. I loved how she teased Lee Adama for saying that he loved her. Making Starbuck a female was a genius decision, it opens that character up to so many more storytelling possibilities.
Also in "The Farm" I realized how much in debt "Falling Skies" is in to "BSG". Especially with the scenes of the resistance. One example is the constant guard of the resistance by armed men standing on buildings. I thought I was watching "Falling Skies" for a minute when I first saw that.
Of the four episodes I especially liked the episode titled "Final Cut". Lucy Lawless played D'Anna Biers, who is a fleet reporter. Who the hell knew that Lucy Lawless could be so sexy? The episode is about Biers being given full reign of the Galactica to show the actual lives of it's crew members. It's a ploy by President Rosling to do damage control after four civilians were killed by marines aboard Gideon.
Biers is allowed to film literally all of the crew of Galactica. As Commander Adama notes she captured "warts" and all. Of course, she would discover things that embarass the proud Adama. She sets up Colonel Tigh in an ambush interview which clearly is suppose to show his lack of leadership skills. Tigh is on my Top Three of "BSG" characters I hate the most. The others are the vain, easily led Gaius and Tigh's manipulative wife. I even like the cylons more than those three human characters, especially cylon #6. Of course that's the incredibly sexy Tricia Helfer. If Gaius doesn't end up being a cylon, I would be very surprised.
In the last scene in "Final Cut", we see the cylon copies Sharon (by my count this would be the third copy of the 8th cylon), Number 6 and a male cylon. (I want to say any show that has as many copies of Grace Park or Tricia Helfer is okay with me. Maybe "Hawaii Five-O" can find a way to incorporate that into their Season Two.) These cylons are watching the deleted scene from Biers report. That scene being the second copy of Sharon on a hospital table with Dr. Cottle trying to save her baby.
Sharon copy #3 is excited by this development. At first I wondered why would she care? Then I realized if they could swap a loyal to the cylons Sharon copy, then they would have a spy in the very vulnerable heart of Galactica. As these three discuss this, the camera pulls back and we can see that there's a fourth person in the room. I'm getting a sinking feeling that it's Biers and sure enough it is. Biers is the fourth of the eight cylons that we know of. Although it wouldn't be completely against the realm of possibility that the creators of "BSG" are trying to lead us astray.
This isn't storytelling from the crap movies of 2011. You can't predict what's going to happen or know the ending a few minutes into the story. I had no inkling that Biers was either a cylon or possibly sympathetic to the cylons.
Whatever happened to Gaius' test to be able to determine if someone was a cylon or not? I hope his lame character is assassinated soon.

"Battlestar Galactica": The Mormonism of it.

Glen Larson is the creator of "Battlestar Galactica". Larson is also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The same church that is commonly referred to as the Mormons or LDS. One would have to be a member of the LDS Church or an expert on Mormonism to realize all the similarities between Mormon theology and "Battlestar Galactica". There are too many similarities for it to be a coincidence.
This isn't me proselytizing or a religious blog entry per se. Although if you are a big fan of "Battlestar Galactica" you know a lot more about Mormonism than you realize. Similarities include the Quorum of the Twelve. On "BSG" it's a leadership group of 12 people directly below their President, in this case President Roslin. In Mormonism, it's a leadership group of 12 men directly below their Prophet, in this case President Thomas S. Monson.
In "BSG" and Mormonism, both talk a lot about scriptures, prophets, destiny and prophecy. In "BSG" early in Season 2, there's 1/3rd of the fleet that leave to go back to Caprica and follow the leader of a break off group. In this case the leader is President Roslin. In Mormon theology Satan led a group of 1/3rd of the spirits in pre-mortal Heaven to rebel against our Heavenly Father. In Mormonism theology this 1/3rd of the people were lost and continue to serve Satan. In "BSG" Commander Adama brought the third back to the fleet.
The final similarity I've found so far is the planet Kolob. In "BSG" Kolob is the birthplace and original home of the human race. The word Kolob means "the first creation". In Mormon theology it is the name of the planet "nearest to the celestial, or the residence of God". That's straight from Bruce R. McConkie, one of the Quorum of the Twelve in the LDS Church before his death. The quote is found in his book "Mormon Doctrine". (I never thought I'd be quoting that on my blog.)
The following video shouldn't be very offensive to anyone. The song is sung by the BYU Choir and the video has a lot of Mormon theology in it. In this video there are also pictures of many of the current LDS Quorum of the Twelve. I'm surprised this video has 368,000 views, I'd guess a lot fewer views. It's also one of my favorite hymns "If I Could Hie To Kolob":
Of course there are also many dissimilarities between "BSG" and Mormonism, for instance there are no cylons in Mormonism. Or should I say there are no Mormon cylons.

Great "Old" Songs
Hello,
Now when I say older songs I mean one of two things. 1) Old songs, at least 30 years old. 2) Songs that sound like they are older than they actually are. For instance, Paper Lace's "The Night Chicago Died" came out in the mid 70's but feels much older. Older songs that are great:

MTV Video memories, Taylor Swift, Pennant Race Baseball
Hello,
With MTV recently celebrating their 30th anniversary, I've been thinking a lot about some of the classic videos. The last couple of days my blog featured classic videos from MTV's heyday. Yesterday I wrote about some very popular 80's artists who surprisingly didn't have very good videos. Today's video theme is songs that should have good videos.
Many of these songs came before videos exploded or I've never seen a video for the song. The thing that got me thinking about this came when I was exercising this morning. I heard the opening notes of "Tom Sawyer" and I thought that song should have a great video. Here's the list which I will be adding to as I think of new songs. Feel free to make any suggestions.
1) "Tom Sawyer"- Rush
2) "Gallows Pole"- The mighty Zep
3) "Camouflage"- Stan Ridgway I absolutely love the end of this song.

It seems the above song has a video, I've never seen this video before:

Speaking of "Breakfast In America", I think this James Blunt cover is pretty cool:

9) "The Kid Is Hot Tonight"- Loverboy
10) "Dance Little Jean"- The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Tiger Woods is making his return to playing golf tomorrow. Seriously why is this still a story? Who cares? Why do people care so much about the 28th ranked golfer in the world? I hope he doesn't make the cut, that would make me laugh. Woods recently fired the caddy who has been with him for so many years. ESPN this morning actually wasted my time wondering who Tiger's new caddy would be. Rick Reilly had one of his alleged funny pieces about a potential new caddy for Tiger. Reilly included Bill Gates and a sumo wrestler, um let me know when the funny begins.
Seriously why is Taylor Swift so good? She's on my mind a lot lately as I'll be going and seeing her in concert in a bit less than two months. How is someone that's only 21 have so many good songs, many of which she wrote or co wrote. This is the first song she released. Although the theme is kind of young, this is a very mature well written song.
Too bad she's not singing the above song on her latest tour.
This is her second song released, both are from her debut CD, which is self-titled. Too bad she isn't singing this song on her current tour either.
She was only 17 when the third song from her debut CD was released, that song is "Our Song". Thankfully this is one of her older (older being relative) songs she actually is singing on her current tour. Seriously this is an incredible song, I would love this song to be our song when I meet that special person.
Then she followed up those three pretty good songs with two classics. And unfortunately she isn't singing either one of these songs on her current tour. Now this is a great video. Taylor Swift and her people know how to make a quality video. "Picture To Burn":
"Should've Said No":
In the song she asks "was it worth it"? I would have to say "no". I can't quite decide whether or not Taylor Swift is a complete babe. Of course, even having those thoughts makes me feel like a pervert.
All the above songs are off her debut CD that she released when she was 16! That's so amazing someone so young can write such great songs. Then add to that she is also attractive and has a nice singing voice. She's no Lea Michele, but she certainly holds her own. (Thanks to wikipedia.org).
This is a song that starts out strongly, but ends weakly and goes on too long. I like it enough that I would recommend it still. I listened to The Band Perry last night on Spotify, they have a few good songs.
Also one final thing: Since I'm your friend let me save you from the SyFy show "Alphas". I watched the first episode and wasn't impressed. I didn't plan on watching another episode. However last night I was tired and bored so I watched the first few minutes of the second episode. It was so bad that I only watched about 15 minutes of it before turning it off.
What's wrong with "Alphas"? Everything. Never has a show had such a lame collection of characters. I don't necessarily need to care about the characters but they should at least be compelling. Not only are these characters not compelling, I wouldn't even say they are characters. They are cliches: the smart guy in charge, the really strong guy, the women with powers of persuasion.
The stories are stretched longer than they need to be, with a ton of filler. The show is neither smart nor funny. Please SyFy kill this show off asap. You do have better ideas than that right?
If you want to watch something else that's much better, there's a lot of great baseball on TV now. With only about 50 games left in the regular season the pennant races are really heating up. For instance, last night on the MLB Network was the near bean brawl game between Milwaukee and St. Louis. The tension was palpable even though I was hundreds of miles away. Also on some channels there was the Philadelphia-Colorado game. Tonight at 8:00pm it's the hated Yankees playing Chicago. Then on Sunday Night Baseball the beloved Red Sox play at Fenway against the Yankees at 8:00pm.
The Braves are playing right now as I'm writing this and thankfully their bats have woken up. They have jumped out to a 6-0 lead over the terrible Nationals. After a brutal start Dan Uggla has been absolutely on fire. As of today he has a 25 game hitting streak. So far he has also had a home run. Freddie Freeman also has an 18 game hitting streak as of today. New Brave Michael Bourn has scored two runs today, exactly what the speedy lead off hitter is suppose to do.
I don't expect the Braves to catch the Phillies, but I do expect them to beat out the NL West's second best team for the NL Wild Card. The gap had been closed to 1.5 games yesterday.

Quick Reviews, Pirates Continue to Struggle, 2011: Year of the Bad Movie continues
Hello,
Fountains of Wayne released their new CD today, it's titled "Sky Full of Holes". My initial reaction is: it's very boring. Fountains of Wayne is a very enjoyable power pop band with many great songs. They are known most for the incredibly catchy "Stacy's Mom", although they have many other great songs. I never thought I would ever call them boring. They are one of the most fun bands, but this CD isn't fun at all. Grade D-.
I listened to Death Cab For Cutie's "Codes and Keys" yesterday. Death Cab's lead singer, Ben Gibbard, has married the lovely Zooey Deschanel. That hasn't helped his song writing. I don't want their relationship to end, but if he could go back to that place from where he wrote all those great songs. Again my initial review of this CD, it's also very boring. Grade: D-
From "Codes and Keys" I do like this song, "Underneath The Sycamore":
A recent singer that has been getting some attention is Tune-Yards. (The picture in the June Sping shows a girl, that's why I'm saying singer.) Thanks to my friends at Spotify I was able to listen to as many of her songs as I possibly could. Besides a strange twist on "My Country Tis of Thee", there's nothing of note in her music. Grade: F
The most promising of the bands I've listened to lately is Glasvegas and they are only okay. They are trying to hard to be Coldplay, although they do have a bit more of a rock vibe. Grade: C-.
I'm also disappointed with music I've heard recently by Ok Go and Rival Sons. However Rival Sons look like they do have some potential. They actually two or three pretty solid songs. I realize I'm getting old and a lot of current music probably won't be enjoyable to me. I truly understand that, but shouldn't there be a band or three that has some very good music? Where are the quality bands that are going to be around for the next several years? I can't remember the last time I discovered and fell in love with a band who was around for a long time. Even the great Guns N' Roses flamed out relatively quickly. For all intents and purposes that band was over once Axl got a serious case of meglomania and Slash walked out.
I'd really like to find a new band that I can fall in love with. Besides Black Stone Cherry, I haven't found a band like that.
Sports: I love the Cubs, but why did they have to perk up when they played the Pirates yesterday? They went into Pittsburgh and beat the Pirates. Although I'm glad one of their two new additions had a good game. Derrick Lee, coming over from Baltimore just before the trading deadline, was responsible for all 3 Pirate RBIs. The Pirates were powered by his two home runs. Unfortunately that wasn't enough as Chicago won 5-3.
The Pirates have now lost 4 in a row and have only won 3 of their last 10 games. They have fallen to 3rd place in the NL Central. But even more frightening they are now 5.5 games behind first place Milwaukee. I wrote previously that I thought Milwaukee was crumbling, but they have responded in winning 8 of their last 10 games. Now it's the Pirates that are crumbling. Good thing they still have 6 more games against Chicago and Houston at home.
Boston also lost at home, losing to Cleveland 9-6. But a potential loss that is much worse is that starting pitcher Clay Buchholz may be out for the rest of the season. Even though they just traded for Seattle's Erik Bedard, the Red Sox would be in a lot of trouble without Buchholz this postseason. They would still have Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, the ageless Tim Wakefield and Bedard. Two very solid starters but what do they do in the other games of a playoff series? That would leave them without Buchholz, Matsuzaka (which I don't really consider that much of a loss) and with a very ineffective Jon Lackey. They seem to be fine with relief pitching, although I didn't like seeing Bard getting shelled last night.
Atlanta also lost last night. They've fallen 7 games behind the Phillies in the NL East.
The Dodgers had Clayton Kershaw pitching last night, which always gives them a good chance of winning. Also Matt Kemp was two of four with a double and a triple. Usually when both of those players do well the Dodgers win. I don't think it's out of the question that Kershaw could win the Cy Young award and that Matt Kemp could win the MVP. That tells you how good those two players are, but how less than good the rest of the team is. That's exactly what happened last night in LA winning 6-2. The Dodgers are now 49-59 on the season and still irrelevant in any playoff discussion.
Thanks to Oakland A's owner Lew Wolff for urging Frank McCourt to sell the Dodgers. McCourt continues to fight to own the Dodgers, although no one thinks he'll be able to keep the team. I'm glad Wolff is suggesting that McCourt sells the team. He urges McCourt to sell for the good of baseball. Most Dodgers fans are wishing for the same thing. It depresses me to no end that the McCourt drama looks like it will drag into next season.
Also today is Day 33 of the NBA Lockout, yawn. I love how Kobe Bryant confirmed that he's not going to play in Turkey. Thanks for letting us know Kobe, but we already knew that. Now there appears to be rumors that Kobe could play in China. Please! No one believes that, the next place Kobe plays will be in the NBA.
The craptastic movies of 2011 continues. "Cowboys and Aliens" and "The Smurfs" tied for money at last week's box office. I'm guessing that Jon Favreau et al didn't anticipate that. For some reason that really struck me as being funny. This week we have the craptastic looking "Rise of the Planet of the Apes". Seriously what are the chances that this 7th movie in this series has any chance of being good? 10%? Is that being too optimistic?
Also we have "The Change Up" starring the good Jason Bateman and the bland Ryan Reynolds. I'm guessing we've seen all the funny parts of this "Freaky Friday" rip off. I expect critics to savage these two movies.
Then also in the near future there's "Final Destination 5". And to compound the mistake of making that movie, it's going to be in 3D. Not only are the filmmakers greedy in making a 5th in this series, but they compound that by making the movie in 3D. That's a double barrel shot gun approach to making as much as money as possible before word of mouth gets out.
When it's time to make lists for the worst 10 movies of this year, there are going to be a lot of candidates. When "The Green Lantern" is too "good" to make the 10 worst movies of the year, that tells you how bad this year has been for movies. Movies that are close to being guaranteed to make the ten worst movies include "Rango", "Hoodwinked Too" and "Gnomeo and Juliet".
Today I saw a preview for a movie titled "Abduction". It stars Taylor Lautner, Reynolds little brother in terms of lack of charisma, as a action hero. Please! Although this movie isn't a sequel, the story feels very familiar. Is it just my imagination or are the three main stars of the "Twilight" movies extremely over rated actors? Do you think any of them are going to have a long career as a top flight star? Yea either do I.
Actually probably the movie I'm looking forward to coming out over the next few weeks is the "Glee Live In Concert" movie. If for no other reason than to hear Lea Michele sing. She has one of the best voices I've ever heard.
One final thing, last night's "Rizzoli and Isles" was amazing. Generally the writing in most television shows is mediocre at best. However the writing for last night's "Rizzoli and Isles" was simply amazing. It's quality of writing is up there near the best of "Mad Men".
But the story of a kidnapped girl of a fellow detective was extremely well written. I felt the anguish of the girl's father, mother and brother. We also felt the anguish of another father who had his daughter killed. It was very moving writing and acting. I'm sure the plot was a little too close to home for friends and families of Elizabeth Smart. She even received a mention.
That reminds me of an article that Roger Ebert wrote recently. He noted that there are 27 sequels that are scheduled to be released this year. That's frightening on so many levels, it shows the dearth of ideas in Hollywood. Ebert suggests that much of that story telling has gone to television. With shows like "Mad Men", "Breaking Bad" and "Broadway Empire" on TV I think he has a very good point. (I haven't seen either "Breaking Bad" or "Broadway Empire", but their reputations would suggest they are very well written shows.)

Fountains of Wayne released their new CD today, it's titled "Sky Full of Holes". My initial reaction is: it's very boring. Fountains of Wayne is a very enjoyable power pop band with many great songs. They are known most for the incredibly catchy "Stacy's Mom", although they have many other great songs. I never thought I would ever call them boring. They are one of the most fun bands, but this CD isn't fun at all. Grade D-.
I listened to Death Cab For Cutie's "Codes and Keys" yesterday. Death Cab's lead singer, Ben Gibbard, has married the lovely Zooey Deschanel. That hasn't helped his song writing. I don't want their relationship to end, but if he could go back to that place from where he wrote all those great songs. Again my initial review of this CD, it's also very boring. Grade: D-
From "Codes and Keys" I do like this song, "Underneath The Sycamore":
A recent singer that has been getting some attention is Tune-Yards. (The picture in the June Sping shows a girl, that's why I'm saying singer.) Thanks to my friends at Spotify I was able to listen to as many of her songs as I possibly could. Besides a strange twist on "My Country Tis of Thee", there's nothing of note in her music. Grade: F
The most promising of the bands I've listened to lately is Glasvegas and they are only okay. They are trying to hard to be Coldplay, although they do have a bit more of a rock vibe. Grade: C-.
I'm also disappointed with music I've heard recently by Ok Go and Rival Sons. However Rival Sons look like they do have some potential. They actually two or three pretty solid songs. I realize I'm getting old and a lot of current music probably won't be enjoyable to me. I truly understand that, but shouldn't there be a band or three that has some very good music? Where are the quality bands that are going to be around for the next several years? I can't remember the last time I discovered and fell in love with a band who was around for a long time. Even the great Guns N' Roses flamed out relatively quickly. For all intents and purposes that band was over once Axl got a serious case of meglomania and Slash walked out.
I'd really like to find a new band that I can fall in love with. Besides Black Stone Cherry, I haven't found a band like that.
Sports: I love the Cubs, but why did they have to perk up when they played the Pirates yesterday? They went into Pittsburgh and beat the Pirates. Although I'm glad one of their two new additions had a good game. Derrick Lee, coming over from Baltimore just before the trading deadline, was responsible for all 3 Pirate RBIs. The Pirates were powered by his two home runs. Unfortunately that wasn't enough as Chicago won 5-3.
The Pirates have now lost 4 in a row and have only won 3 of their last 10 games. They have fallen to 3rd place in the NL Central. But even more frightening they are now 5.5 games behind first place Milwaukee. I wrote previously that I thought Milwaukee was crumbling, but they have responded in winning 8 of their last 10 games. More about MTV: People like Duran Duran, Micheal Jackson and Madonna took full advantage of videos, many acts ignored it. Some huge acts only took a cursory interest in the video form. These artists include some of the big acts of the day. For instance, Huey Lewis, Billy Joel, Janet Jackson, Heart, Hall and Oates, Whitney Houston, Pet Shop Boys and Elton John. Feel free to argue if you disagree or let me know videos that you think are classic.

Madonna was one of the people who took advantage of videos the best. Of course if the songs weren't good the videos would be a lot less memorable. Unlike many modern musicians, she had several great hits and albums in a short amount of time. She still would have been a huge star, but MTV and videos helped her be a bigger star. "Material Girl":

themusicaddict's August bookclub, Happy Birthday MTV
Hello,
With today being the first of the month, it's time to make the announcement of the next musicaddict book club selection. It's going to be Colin Harrison's "The Havana Room". I've read the first 84 pages so far. It seems like it will be a great book. I love how Bill Wyeth, the main character, back story is quickly told. Once we know about him, the rest of the story is able to move forward.
I know that nearly every other entertainment website and music blogger is writing about MTV's 30th anniversary. However I wanted to add my two cents worth as well. I don't think I've watched MTV regularly for 15-20 years. But back in the 80's I remember spending many afternoons watching MTV. Of course there were all the usual videos. Then there were also the videos that had scenes from upcoming movies in them. Also do you remember the World Premiere videos?
Some of my favorite things about MTV:
I loved one of their first non music video shows, the game show "Remote Control". It starred the hilarious Colin Quinn, host Ken Ober and only for eye candy purposes Kari Wuhrer. The set was supposedly set in Ken Ober's Mom's basement. My favorite part of the show was Colin Quinn's singing songs. When he was done singing, the contestant would sing the next line. Quinn was completely aware of his bad singing, he was doing it for the comedy. It's also the show that gave Adam Sandler his big break, I'm not sure how I feel about that.
It actually makes me feel a little nostalgic for MTV back in the day. Unfortunately that's gone and probably won't ever come back. Of course I wouldn't want to watch a bunch of lame rappers and Britney Spears videos.
Then also I loved some of their many amazing videos. Although I can't remember the last CD I bought because something I saw or heard on MTV. Artists whose videos had the most impact on me are from artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, ZZ Top, Duran Duran, Guns N' Roses and Debbie Gibson.
Some of my least favorite things about MTV include "Beavis and Butthead" and many of their other cartoon shows. Other than flipping through I've never watched more than 30 seconds of "Jersey Shore". I'm embarrassed that I know what GTL means. Since I wasn't 11 when it was on I was never a big TRL fan.
Here are a few of my favorite videos from when MTV was relevant. Not only are the following videos great but the songs also kick butt.

"Falling Skies" is setting up for next week's two part season finale and I'm expecting big things. There's no way it can be as atrocious as the finale to "The Killing". I love some of the plot points from last night's episode. I loved the new aliens we saw last night. The extremely tall and skinny aliens are quite a contrast to the lower to the ground mechs and skitters. My guess they are the ones really in charge. My favorite scene with the new alien species is where one of them accompanied Karen to the door of the crazy, traitorous tea lady. We see the strange new alien bending over to look through the eye hole. That was cool and extremely freaky. The new alien species are probably the ones that designed the mechs.
The new aliens, who haven't received a nickname yet, probably only put up with the skitters to do most of their dirty work. I'm guessing the skitters are the ones that built the mechs. One of last night's reveals was it was confirmed that the skitters were probably previously another creature, perhaps human? I noted this on my blog back in the early part of this show. I'd like to say that's because I'm a genius. No, it's because "Falling Skies" gave it away in their previews.
Is there anyway the humans can turn the skitters against the other alien species? Then the humans and skitters maybe can become allies? Also if the skitters were once humans, can they return to being human? I doubt that, but is there a happy medium? One human, although I'd argue that he's only half human, is Rick. He already is an ally to the skitters. Why has no one realized that he's essentially a skitter spy? The camera showed him looking with concern with the new mech bullets destroying things much easier than human bullets. Next we see him scurry off, presumably to tell the skitters. He seems to consider himself a skitter, just still in human form.
Is the actor playing Rick suppose to be so creepy? He has that dead look and plays that character with no affect. He acts like he is being held against his will. Although he has had chances to escape. What exactly is going on with Rick and will we find out next week? Why does he seem to take differently to his harness, even though it has been removed, than Ben?
I love the plot line about how scouts are saying the skitters are pulling back. The humans have decided to go after the alien base stations. At first I wondered why would they do that? Then I realized they can maximize the damage if all the alien species are in one place. But we've already come across a few humans that are allies to the aliens. So are the aliens setting up a trap?
Although as ew.com notes that plan will fail spectacularly. If the plan succeeds, then how
would they do the already scheduled Season 2.
Many people mock this show, but I'm really a big fan. I look forward to watching it every Sunday night. Not every plot or story line is brilliant, but overall it's a very entertaining and thoughtful show.

The new aliens, who haven't received a nickname yet, probably only put up with the skitters to do most of their dirty work. I'm guessing the skitters are the ones that built the mechs. One of last night's reveals was it was confirmed that the skitters were probably previously another creature, perhaps human? I noted this on my blog back in the early part of this show. I'd like to say that's because I'm a genius. No, it's because "Falling Skies" gave it away in their previews.
Is there anyway the humans can turn the skitters against the other alien species? Then the humans and skitters maybe can become allies? Also if the skitters were once humans, can they return to being human? I doubt that, but is there a happy medium? One human, although I'd argue that he's only half human, is Rick. He already is an ally to the skitters. Why has no one realized that he's essentially a skitter spy? The camera showed him looking with concern with the new mech bullets destroying things much easier than human bullets. Next we see him scurry off, presumably to tell the skitters. He seems to consider himself a skitter, just still in human form.
Is the actor playing Rick suppose to be so creepy? He has that dead look and plays that character with no affect. He acts like he is being held against his will. Although he has had chances to escape. What exactly is going on with Rick and will we find out next week? Why does he seem to take differently to his harness, even though it has been removed, than Ben?
I love the plot line about how scouts are saying the skitters are pulling back. The humans have decided to go after the alien base stations. At first I wondered why would they do that? Then I realized they can maximize the damage if all the alien species are in one place. But we've already come across a few humans that are allies to the aliens. So are the aliens setting up a trap?
Although as ew.com notes that plan will fail spectacularly. If the plan succeeds, then how
would they do the already scheduled Season 2.
Many people mock this show, but I'm really a big fan. I look forward to watching it every Sunday night. Not every plot or story line is brilliant, but overall it's a very entertaining and thoughtful show.
