(Finished July 12th, 2022) Part 2 of Some of The Best and Most Intriguing Covers

Hello,

Thanks to https://www.treblezine.com/top-100-best-cover-songs/

I'm trying to do songs that I don't usually post here although I'll probably include songs I've featured on my blog several times.

18) Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes":

From one well known gay band, The Village People, to another well known gay band The Pet Shop boys. 19) The Pet Shop Boys "Go West":

20) "Tiffany I Think We're Alone Now":

I had no idea this song is a cover, this is the first I'm hearing of that. The first band that sang this is called Numarx. Of course since the boys of Milli Vanilli really didn't sing this song their "cover" isn't really a "cover". I'll leave that for smarter people to figure out. 21) "Milli Vanilli" "Girl You Know It's True":

22) Robert Palmer "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On":

23) Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young "Woodstock":

24) Donna Summer "MacArthur Park":

25) Joe Cocker "With A Little Help From My Friends":

26) Sara Evans "My Sharona":

27) Guns N' Roses "Live and Let Die":

28) First To Eleven "Somewhere Over The Rainbow":

29) Motley Crue "Smokin' In The Boys Room":

30) Erasure "Take A Chance On Me":

31) Jack White "Love Is Blindness":

32) Istanbul Not Constantinople

33) Cher "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)":

34) Adele "If It Hadn't Been For Love":

(Finished July 10th, 2022) The Best Twenty One Songs of 1960

Hello,

I've been wanting to do a blog series like this for awhile

I will pick five or more songs from 1953 to 2022. I would've started a year earlier but I'm not very familiar with songs of the years up to 1952. In 1952 I was still -15 years from being born, please forgive me for my lack of knowledge. 1953 is the first year I actually know six songs by title alone. I'll be posting anywhere as many songs as feels appropriate for each year. As these blogs continue I find more songs that I can't find a reason to leave off the list.

1960, Part 1:

1) Percy Faith "Theme From A Summer Place":

2) The Everly Brothers "Cathy's Clown":

(Finished July 10th, 2022) Part 13 of Selected Classic Ballads

Hello,

I started watching Amazon Prime's so very good (so far) Season 1 of "Reacher". Check it out. Anyway there's a scene where Reacher was dancing with his potential lady friend, Roscoe (yes, that's her name). Patsy Cline's "Crazy" inspired Roscoe to ask Reacher to dance. They went to the dance floor and that nearly perfect song matched the romantic moment perfectly. I was inspired to work on a series of classic ballads, starting with "Crazy".

203) Anita Baker "Been So Long":

204) The Manhattans "Shining Star":

205) Atlantic Starr "Always":

206) Johnny Cash "I Still Miss Someone":

207) Okay maybe not exactly a ballad. Alabama "She and I":

208) Lionel Richie "Penny Lover":

209) Sinead O'Connor "You Put Your Arms Around Me":

210) Alabama "Love In The First Degree":

211) .38 Special "Second Chance":

213) Taylor Dayne "I'll Be Your Shelter":

214) Anita Baker "No One In The World":

(Finished September 14th, 2022) Part 6 of The 102 Best Songs of the 1990s

Hello,

The way I'm doing this is I'm going to post the Top 102 greatest 90s songs in order of the way I thought of them. Once I hit 102 songs I will go and look at the 102 listed songs and see if there are any other songs that the 101st song might be better than. If so I will replace the previously listed song. That way I can stay at 100 songs and have truly the 100 greatest 1990s songs of all-time. This isn't a ranking by best songs, that's just too much work. As best as I can these are the 102 greatest 1990s songs.

I will also post other great 90s songs by each band listed if motivated enough. As all of these artists are so much more than one of the 100 greatest songs of the 1990s. Yeah I'm going to try and do all the decades from the 1950s to now, some decades will be harder/easier than others. It's likely not all of these songs will still be around in the final edition of this decade's Top 102 Best Songs.

I included Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" and M.C. Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" in with the best songs of the 80s. I won't be including those songs here.

I have found 101 of the 102 Best Songs of The 90s- going to let inspiration to guide me for the final song. That song ended up being Jackyl's "I Stand Alone".

Almost 113 million YouTube views. 86) Semisonic "Closing Time":

Almost 42 million YouTube views. 87) Fiona Apple "Criminal":

Rapidly closing in on 27 million YouTube views. 88) Hole "Celebrity Skin":

Almost 35 million YouTube views. 89) Faith No More "Epic":

Another great Faith No More 90s song, "Falling To Pieces":

369,000 YouTube views. 90) The Counting Crows "Rain King":

Over 284 million YouTube views. 91) Mariah Carey "Always Be My Baby":

Over 33 million YouTube views. 92) The Mighty Mighty Bosstones "The Impression That I Get":

Almost 27 million YouTube views. 93) Chris Isaak "Wicked Game":

Almost 7.7 million YouTube views. 94) Screaming Trees "Nearly Lost You":

Over 11.2 million YouTube views. 95) Veruca Salt "Seether":

Over 5.6 million YouTube views. 96) Tori Amos "Crucify":

97) Jackyl "I Stand Alone":

Rapidly closing in on 68 million YouTube views. 98) The Smashing Pumpkins "Bullet With Butterfly Wings":

Over 406 million YouTube views. 99) Michael Jackson "Black or White":

Over 4.5 million YouTube views for this grunge classic. 100) Pearl Jam "Rearviewmirror":
Closing in on 4 million YouTube views, which seems awfully low for such a great song. But this video is only 5 years old. 101) Coolio "Fantastic Voyage":

Over 303 million YouTube views. 102) Depeche Mode "Enjoy The Silence":

(Started July 9th, 2022) The 102 Best Songs of the 80s: Honorarable Mentions

Hello,

As I've been compiling my Top 102 Greatest Songs of each decade from the 50s to the current decade I have found great songs that just don't make the Top 102. These are those songs that are pretty darn good, but just not Top 102. There's still the possibility that some of these songs will ultimately make the final Top 102 Best Songs of the 80s. There have already been a few songs that made the jump from this list to the Top 102 best songs of the 80s.

1) Neil Young "Rockin' In The Free World":

2) Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians "What I Am":

3) Billy Ocean "Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car":

4) Tears For Fears "Everybody Wants To Rule The World":

5) Dire Straits "Money For Nothing":

6) Glenn Frey "You Belong To The City":

7) Peter Schilling "Major Tom":

8) Enya "Orinoco Flow":

Just over one billion YouTube views, which is a lot of views for an 80s classic. 9) Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Want To Have Fun":

This video was created about the same time as the above song, however it only has slightly over 19 million YouTube views. Both are amazing songs and I wonder what factors makes the difference between one song having so many more views than another song. 10) Janet Jackson "Escapade":

11) Janet Jackson "Black Cat":

12) The Smiths "Girlfriend In A Coma":

13) Jefferson Starship "Find Your Way Back":

14) Jefferson Starship "Stranger":

15) Irene Cara "Flashdance (What A Feeling)":

16) The Scorpions "The Zoo":

17) Bobby Brown "Roni":

18) Jody Watley "Looking For A New Love":

19) Jody Watley "Don't You Want Me":

20) Cher "If I Could Turn Back Time":

21) John Lennon "Watching The Wheels":

22) Blondie "Call Me":

23) John Lennon "Nobody Told Me":

The sultriness and sexiness of the Bond girl. 24) Rita Coolidge "All Time High":

25) Nine Inch Nails "Down In It":

26) Nine Inch Nails "Head Like A Hole":

27) The Police "King of Pain":

28) Whitney Houston "Love Is A Contact Sport":

This is such a hellaciously song and video. 29) Laura Branigan "Self-Control":
