The Flame Out of Brooke Valentine + The Best of Brooke Valentine

Hello,

I remember stumbling across this great singer in 2005. Her real name is Kanesha Nichole Brookes, she went by the stage name Brooke Valentine. "Chain Letter" was released on March 15th, 2005, bringing a lot of sass, attitude and a lot of good songs. I thought she was headed to a great career. But what happened to her after releasing her CD? Well from what my research indicates, not a whole lot. It's 10 years later and she still hasn't released her second CD. She's allegedly working on her second CD now. Since "Chain Letter" she's released a few uninspired singles. The most significant thing Miss Valentine has done in the last 10 years is change her stage name. She now goes by B. Valentine. (Thanks to Wikipedia for the biographical information.)

"Chain Letter" only sold 290,000 copies, that's shameful. It should have sold that many copies in the first week alone. More later on what should have been done to sell more copies. The following info comes from Wikipedia. As with anything else I get from Wikipedia I take this with a grain of salt. But if what Wikipedia says is is true, then I understand why this CD didn't sell more. According to Wikipedia the 3 songs released as singles were the mediocre "Girlfight", which only peaked at #23. Also the weak "As Long As You Come Home", which peaked at #71 and is one of the worst songs on the CD.  Then the third and final single was the decent "Cover Girl". That's bizarre because of those 3 songs, that's the only song that's in the cd's Top Ten best songs.

I don't know who's advising her, but they suck. The only non-"Chain Letter" track that's listenable is her tepid remake of A Taste of Honey's "Boogie Oogie Oogie". And that songs falls well short of how good it could be, it should be more funky and upbeat. I strongly suggest new management and get your ass in the recording studio and make another CD as good as "Chain Letter". Also you don't need the guest rappers-I'd rather hear your powerful voice Miss Valentine. The whole using sex and skanky pictures to sell your music is unnecessary. I love a pretty face as much as the next person, but just be who you are as an atrtist without resorting to that.

Without further adieu, here's the ten best songs on "Chain Letter" (and at this point still her 10 best songs):
