(Finished August 30th, 2018) themusicaddict's Top 16 Greatest 80's Soundtracks #15 "Who Made Who":

Hello,

Stephen King is one of my favorite authors, currently I'm re-reading "11/22/63" and loving it, but the adaptations of King's work has been abysmal. But one of the worst Stephen King adaptations ever is "Maximum Overdrive". Here's the trailer for this terrible movie, the kicker is the director was Stephen King. Thankfully he hasn't directed another of his own works:

According to WatchMojo.com these are the 10 best Stephen King adaptations:

And WatchMojo.com's Stephen King movies that need to be remade:

The soundtrack for "Maximum Overdrive" is called "Who Made Who":

1) "Who Made Who":

2) "You Shook Me All Night Long":

You never know what you're going to find when you're searching for things on the internet. While searching for the above song I stumbled across Celine Dion and Anastacia's version. It was much better than I expected, but nowhere good as the original.

3) "Sink The Pink":

4) "Ride On":

5) "Hells Bells":

6) "D.T.":

7) "Shake Your Foundation":

8) "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)":

(Started August 28th, 2018) The Eagles "The Long Run":

Hello,

I got 95% of my information from Wikipedia.org. A website that has a bad reputation, but I've always found it to be mostly accurate.

The Eagles sixth CD, "The Long Run", it was released on September 24th, 1979.  "The Long Run" came 3 years after their most popular CD "Hotel California". " While that CD has some good songs on it, I've always preferred "The Long Run". It was also their last CD until 2007's "The Long Road Out Of Eden". "The Long Run" has sold over 8 million copies and is probably one of the Top 250 best selling CDs ever. Also "Heartache Tonight" won the Eagles the Grammy for The Best Rock Performance by a Duo of Group With Vocal.

One thing that Wikipedia seems to have inaccurate is: When released in September 1979, The Long Run debuted at number two on Billboard's Pop Albums chart and a week later hit number one. However on another Wikipedia.org site that says Led Zeppelin's "In Through The Out Door" is listed as the number CD from September 15th to October 27th. According to that site "The Long Run" wasn't #1 until November 3rd. According to that site it then was #1 through the end of 1979. It was replaced by Donna Summer's "On The Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes 1 & 2".

What did Rolling Stone say about "The Long Run" when it was originally released. This is an excerpt of the full review:
"The Long Run, the Eagles first album in three years, is a chilling and altogether brilliant evocation of Hollywood’s nightly Witching Hour, that nocturnal feeding frenzy first detailed by Warren Zevon on his haunting Asylum debut (Warren Zevon, 1976) and the equally powerful Excitable Boy. Both Zevon and the Eagles have employed the desperado and the ghoul as antiromantic symbols of the star caught in the devil’s bargain. And both eventually came to realize that they had to give up the guise of observers and confess their roles as participants.
The Eagles live and thrive in a town where rock & roll is the foremost fame machine. Commercially, they’ve risen as high as a band possibly can, and yet, as individuals, they still have trouble getting in touch with a girlfriend, with any true comfort or satisfaction, with their own dreams. Their backyard is a thicket of fast cars, witchy women, outrageous parties and wasted time, so their perspective on the maw is doubtlessly an informed one.
Since their first LP in 1972, the Eagles have been adept at portraying the dark side of stardom, the sordid milieu of its beneficiaries and the various modus operandi used to secure notoriety. From Eagles‘ “Chug All Night,” “Most of Us Are Sad” and “Take the Devil,” through all of Desperado, to “James Dean” and “Good Day in Hell” on On the Border and the title tracks of One of These Nights and Hotel California, the themes of evil exhilaration, dissolution and despair that attend tinseled glory were relentlessly hammered home. These recurring themes finally reached their apex in the song whose title has since become synonymous with high living and self-destruction: “Life in the Fast Lane.”"

Who were the members of the Eagles when this CD was released?:

Other CDs that were released in September, 1979 include Kool & The Gang "Ladies Night", Aretha Franklin's "La Diva", Foreigner's "Head Games", Cheap Trick's "Dream Police", Santana's "Marathon" and Sammy Hagar's "Street Machine".

The three CDs preceding "The Long Run" were Donna Summer's "Bad Girls", The Knack's "Get A Knack" and as previously mentioned Led Zeppelin's "In Through The Out Door".

1) "The Long Run":

2) "I Can't Tell You Why":

I remember how scary "The Warriors" was back in the day, however now that movie is completely ridiculous. The best thing about that movie is this song.
3) "In The City": (Joe Vitale played the congas on this track):

This song was a direct reaction to disco, which was at the beginning of its end. Although no one knew that at the time. This CD was released only a few months after July 12th, 1979's Disco Demolition Drive:

4) "Disco Strangler":

5) "King of Hollywood":

6) "Heartache Tonight": (Bob Seger sang backing vocals on this track).
7) "Those Shoes":

8) "Teenage Jail":

9) "The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks":

10) "The Sad Cafe" (David Sanborn played alto saxophone on this track.):

"Cracked" is essentially all of least bad songs from the Hooties. It's also one of the worst album titles of all-time. 9) Hootie and the Blowfish "Cracked Rear View" (21 million):

Due to Brooks' greed, no actual Garth Brooks videos are on You Tube.

(Finished August 23rd, 2018) The Top 30 Best Selling CDs of All-Time, Part 3 #19-#16

Hello,

The following blog is inspired by the Top 100 Best Selling CDs of All-Time as reported by: https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/08/20/100-best-selling-albums-2018/

The number in parenthesis is number of units sold.

19) Alanis Morissette "Jagged Little Pill" (16 million):

"You Oughta Know":

"Hand In My Pocket":

"Ironic":

"You Learn":

"Head Over Feet":

I'm not a big Beatles fans, but these are some of the Beatles best songs.

"A Day In The Life":

"I Am The Walrus":

"Fool On The Hill":

"Back In The U.S.S.R.":

"Hey Jude":

Due to Garth's greed, there are none of his videos on You Tube. It's too bad as "No Fences" likely is the greatest country CD ever, every song on it is amazing. He's the only artist I know of that won't allow their music on YouTube, although he needs more money like I need a bigger gut. Obviously it's his right, I just find it extremely greedy. Shameful.

From an early 2017 interview with Garth Brooks in Billboard magazine:

How are you going to keep fans engaged after the tour is over? They can’t go on YouTube and watch your videos, because you have an issue with how YouTube compensates song creators.
Because they can’t go on YouTube and watch the video today does not mean they cannot go on YouTube and watch the video tomorrow. [Utilizing] the new technologies without sacrificing the old-school beliefs, those days are getting closer.
What does that mean?
Individual deals with different technology companies, but built solely on one thing -- what works best for the music and the artist.
So are you going to make a deal with YouTube?
I can tell you I’d like to... It if happens, if’s going to happen [based on] what’s best for the song and the people who created the song. You can bet on that… as long as it benefits the people who created it, as well as it benefits the people who enjoy listening to it.
17) Garth Brooks "No Fences" (17 million):
"The Thunder Rolls":
"Victim of The Game":
"Unanswered Prayers":
"Wolves":
"New Way To Fly":

16) Elton John "Greatest Hits":
"Your Song":

"Saturday Night's (Alright For Fighting)":

(Finished August 20th, 2018) The Top 30 Best Selling CDs of All-Time, Part 1 #30- #24

Hello,

The following blog is inspired by the Top 100 Best Selling CDs of All-Time as reported by: https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/08/20/100-best-selling-albums-2018/

It was announced today that the top two all-time best selling CD information was updated with the Eagles "Greatest Hits 1971-1975" bypassing Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Both are amazing CDs, although I would have to give a tip of the hat to Jackson's classic CD. I thought it would be fun to countdown the Top 30 best selling CDs, highlight anywhere from one to several songs from each CD as well as document how many copies each CD sold- that's the number in parenthesis.

Thanks to the Associated Press for the following:

NEW YORK (AP) — The Eagles' greatest hits album has moonwalked past Michael Jackson's "Thriller" to become history's best-selling album of all-time in the U.S.
The Recording Industry Association of America told The Associated Press on Monday that the Eagles' album — "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" — is now certified 38x platinum, which means sales and streams of the album have reached 38 million copies.
The album was released in 1976 and pushes Jackson's "Thriller," which is 33x platinum, to second place.
RIAA also said that the Eagles' "Hotel California," released in 1977, is now 26x platinum and makes it the third best-selling album of all-time.
The last time RIAA tallied sales for the Eagles' greatest hits album was in 2006, when it said it was 29x platinum. Sales and streams for "Thriller" were last updated last year.
The power of babysitting money, this music hasn't aged well at all. 30) Backstreet Boys "Backstreet Boys" (14 million):

"Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)":

29) Adele "21" (14 million):

"Set Fire To The Rain":

"Rumor Has It":

I've never been a big Beatles fan, but I do like a few of their songs. 28) The Beatles "The Beatles 1962-1966"  (15 million):

"Paperback Writer":

"Nowhere Man":

"We Can Work It Out":

"Day Tripper":

27) Santana "Supernatural" (15 million):

"Smooth":

26) Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" (15 million):

"Time":

"Money":

"On The Run":

I've always been a sucker for the pop rock sounds of Journey. 25) Journey "Greatest Hits" (15 million):

I love the pure tone of Steve Perry's voice. "Wheel In The Sky":

"I'll Be Alright Without You":

"Faithfully":

"Send Her My Love":

"Who's Crying Now":

24) Bruce Springsteen "Born In The U.S.A." (15 million):

"Born In The U.S.A.":

"Dancing In The Dark":

"Darlington County":

"I'm Goin Down":

(Finished August 15th, 2018) A Tribute To The Great Aretha Franklin

Hello,

News reports are leaking out that the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is "seriously ill" and in hospice care. Usually when someone is in hospice, that's usually the time right before a person is going to die. I'm praying for her to have the best life she possibly can have as long as she lives.

On the day I was born the #1 song was Aretha's classic "Respect". I've always had much love for the Queen of Soul, but even more so because I was born on the day one of the most classic songs ever was #1.

(Finished August 13th, 2018) Songs That Defined Your Childhood 1990-2000, Part 1

Hello,

This video is songs that defined your childhood from 1990 to 2000, there are a lot of great musical memories in this video. However some of these songs I hadn't ever heard of, so I'm highlighting those songs that I have never or rarely heard. Also I'm adding a couple of songs just because I love them so much. Most of these songs are pretty good, but all of them. Quality is not guaranteed. For this blog the focus is on the song, not on the video.

I had never heard of this song before today, but I understand why it has been forgotten. Double You "Please Don't Go":

This song is a bit better. It has a great chorus, but the verses are meh. Dr. Alban "It's My Life":

An old school classic. Real McCoy "Another Night":

Alex I'll take alliteration for $1000 dollars. Shakespear's Sister "Stay":

A great chorus, but the rest of the song is meh. Simply Red "Fairground":

Culture Beat "Mr. Vain":

2 Unlimited "No Limit":

I had never heard of Corona before watching the YouTube video that inspired this blog. I would have guessed a musician named Corona would be a country rocker. No she's dance pop and great dance pop. Her 1995 CD "The Rhythm Of The Night" is great! Corona "Rhythm Of The Night":

Corona "Baby Baby":

Robin S "Show Me Love":

Rednex "Cotton Eyed Joe":
