(Finished January 12th, 2023) Part 1 of The Best 68 Songs from 41 years Ago February 19th, 1983's Billboard Hot 100

Hello,

These countdowns are from Billboard Hot 100 countdowns. By best songs, obviously that's subjective. I'll include the band, name of song and where that song ranked that week. Those places I skipped a song that indicates that I didn't think that wasn't a good enough song for that countdown. On this blog I've decided to go with all the great songs on that week's countdown. These are the best songs for one week, not the entire year.

1) Patti Austin and James Ingram "Baby, Come To Me" (1):

2) Men At Work "Down Under" (2):

3) Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band "Shame On The Moon" (3):

4) The Stray Cats "Stray Cat Strut" (4):

5) Toto "Africa (5)":

6) Michael Jackson "Billie Jean": (6):

7) Eddie Rabbitt with Crystal Gayle "You and I" (7)":

8) Culture Club "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" (8):

9) Duran Duran "Hungry Like The Wolf" (9):

One of the very first videos I remember seeing on MTV, back when they were new and relevant. 10) Phil Collins "You Can't Hurry Love" (10):

11) Little River Band "The Other Guy" (11):

12) Adam Ant "Goody Two Shoes" (12):

The first song I didn't deem worthy enough to be on this countdown was at 13, Musical Youth's  "Pass The Dutchie". Ironically I saw the remnants of that band in concert this past summer. "Dutchie" is a good enough song, but not quite up with "Billie Jean" or Phil Collins "You Can't Hurry Love".

13) Sammy Hagar "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy" (14):

14) Kenny Loggins "Heart To Heart" (15):

15) Christopher Cross "All Right" (16):

16) Billy Joel "Allentown" (17):
