Let's go back and check on the best songs from 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 years. Hey and maybe even some of the best songs from 2025. 1955 was a hard year for me to find 17 songs for this blog. However 1965 is a much easier year for me to find a bunch of great songs.

1965 was known for the funeral of Winston Churchill, one of the finest leaders in the history of the world. 

Also the assassination of Malcolm X, another great although much more controversial leader. In Vietnam the beginning of Operation Rolling Thunder, Also President Johnson increases the number of troops in Vietnam from 75,000 to 125,00 as the war continues to get out of hand for America. 58,000 Americans would die in this conflict, which sadly reminds me a lot of the current Iranian quagmire. 

Martin Luther King's four day march in Selma, which is immortalized by the move of the same name. Also Tokyo officially becomes the largest city, bypassing New York City.
