A crazy Memorial Day Weekend

Hello,

Since I have the world's greatest job, I had a 4 day weekend. Friday I went with two of my kids to see the local Triple A baseball team play, the Salt Lake Bees. They got killed but other than that it was a cool experience. It was military appreciation night and the 20 newest Navy people were inducted into the Navy. Then they had fireworks, that was cool. That sappy Lee Greenwood song, "God Bless The U.S.A." played. It made me appreciate how lucky I am to be living in America. Although I was thinking how 9/11 did revitalize Lee Greenwood's career. (Hmm, was Lee Greenwood really behind 9/11?)

Saturday I just chilled until 7:30 then I went and picked up two of my kids and we watched "Daybreakers" last night. It was okay. They stayed over last night. Then we went to two parks today and had pizza. It was alright. I love my kids but they really wear me out.

I continue ripping through "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest". That's seriously one of the best trilogies of all-time. It makes me so sad the author has died, I just think he's such an amazing author. I love the character he created, Lisbeth Salander, she rules. Although at the end of the previous book she was almost killed. For at least the first 185 pages so far, she's been confined to a hospital bed without a computer. That's not the computer hacker and overall fireball Lisbeth Salander that I know and love.

Here's my NBA Finals analysis. Who cares? Seriously I'm cheering for both to lose, is that possible?

The World Cup

Hola,

The World Cup is right around the corner and I'm getting very excited. The World Cup this year is in South Africa and it starts on June 11th. The first game for the United States will be on June 12th, they'll be playing soccer mad England. The last time these two sides (the soccer word for teams) played they in the World Cup they made a movie about it. The following thanks to wikipedia.com, "The game and the U.S. team were profiled by author Geoffrey Douglas in his book The Game of Their Lives (ISBN 0-8050-3875-2), which was made into a film of the same name (later renamed to The Miracle Match)." I'm hoping for something to happen similarly this quadrennial.

I finally got my hands on the final installment of Stieg Larsson's "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest". I've started reading it already, I'm to page 112 so far. The main character is Lisbeth Salander, named the #98th all-time character in the most recent Entertainment Weekly. (For those of you wondering Homer Simpson is #1.) It's another great novel so far, I'm sad that Larsson has passed away. He was an excellent author.

In the NBA playoffs tonight I'm cheering for the Suns to win.

"American Idol" finale

Hello,

I'm sorry I'm stealing Matt Rogers joke, was Lee really the de wyze choice to be this year's "AI" winner, it's second to last season on the air as a relevant show. I don't know about you but I really got the sense how tired of a show this is now. Then with Simon leaving, it won't stagger along that much longer, will it? I don't even know if I'm going to watch it next year. With Simon leaving, "AI" has officially jumped the shark, if it hadn't already. And was it only me or did it seem like who won the show this season was besides the point?

DeWyze is officially the whitest person ever to win "AI". He looked so nervous last night, the white boy can't dance and his voice didn't sound that good last night. He's also stiff as hell and has absolutely no stage presence. He's almost the complete opposite of Crystal Bowersox. I think that was the peak of his career. He's going to be going downhill from here.

I didn't really care that Crystal didn't win, I think she's going to continue the recent trend of a non winner doing a lot better than the winner. Like Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert. Somebody pointed out at ew.com that did you notice that none of them were on the show last night? I did like Kris Allen's performance of "The Truth" though, I got to give the guy props. He really has some good songs, I'm actually starting to warm up. I'm also glad we didn't have to put up with Adam Lambert. David Archuleta appearing was enough, one over hyped singer per show is more than enough.

Also tonight is the season and series finale of "Flashforward". I love that show and will be watching the finale as soon as I get home from work. I hope Mark and Olivia Benford end up back together, that is unless Olivia Benford ends up with me :)

Stone Temple Pilots

Hello,

The Stone Temple Pilots return with their first all new music in over 10 years with their self-titled CD tomorrow. Currently it's streaming at billboard.com for free. It has been there a few days, I don't know how much longer it's going to be there. The CD sounds exactly like you think it would sound like, why mess with what was a successful formula apparently. Does that mean its bad? No I'm liking it, but I consider myself a Stone Temple Pilots fan.

The first night of the big "AI" finale starts tomorrow. I haven't watched it in a few weeks, but many people I have talked to think Lee Dewyze is going to win. (As long as it isn't Adam Lambert, Kris Allen or Danny Gokey). I think this will be the second to last year of the show. The formula is just tired now. They aren't going to be able to replace Simon. It makes me nervous who they are going to pick, the producers don't have an especially good track record. Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Kara DiaGuardia all are terrible. I do like Ellen Degeneres though. I don't think they could go wrong with the very appealing Shania Twain. I think Neil Patrick Harris would be good also.

Unless Fox just continues to drive "AI" in the ground the 10th season should be the last. Here's a good article from billboard.com about the flagging fortunes of "AI".

http://www.billboard.com/#/news/can-american-idol-be-saved-1004093058.story

Also it's good to see the Archuleta know how to vote online. That's the only reasonable explanation I can figure out why he's the leading vote getter for the all-time male "AI". It's certainly not his illustrious career. Other than this blip he's thankfully fading into obscurity. Seriously people think he's better than Daughtry, David Cook, Norman Gentle, my butt.

The season and the series finale of "FlashForward" is Thursday night. Hopefully I won't be the only one who will miss this show.

"Hallelujah"

Hello,

"Hallelujah" is just a great, great song. I can't believe I hadn't heard this song until Jason Castro sang it on "American Idol" 3 years ago. Speaking of "AI", Simon picked this song for Lee Dewyze. I heard he did a pretty amazing performance of this song. I just watched it on youtube.com. His version was okay. Jeff Buckley's version gets a lot of praise, but I think his version is kind of boring.

Jason Castro's version is much better than Lee Dewyze's version.

(I apologize that you have to hear Randy Jackson at the end of this clip.)

I think my favorite version of this song is by the relatively unknown Allison Crowe.

Here are the lyrics:

"Hallelujah"

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Speaking of "American Idol" this season's final two is set, it's going to be between Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze. I like Lee but does he really have a chance? Crystal is one of the few "AI" contestants I've ever looked forward to their first CD. I'm very excited it. Not too many "Idols" I say that about.

Speaking of which Alexis Grace, when is your first CD going to be out? She has music available on her myspace.com page. However a lot of it is from the performances she did on "AI".

Good/Bad

Hello,

I finally heard from my attorney yesterday, our judge has the paperwork. My attorney says that the divorce should be final in about 1 or 2 weeks. This is the ultimate in bittersweet and good/bad. I've accepted that the marriage is coming to an end, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it. I still love the soon to be ex-wife very much and wish the best for her. On the other hand I had such a feeling of lightness after hearing from my attorney. I know there are many women out there who I will love as much as the ex, I just hope I find that person.

The job is going good. My boss doesn't live in Utah. She has flown into Salt Lake City to finish my training. She seems to be pleased with my performance so far. I love my job. Although this week I have to work almost 40 hours, 5 days and only get a two day weekend. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, "quit your whining". Okay I will. I'm so grateful I found this job.

I renewed my napster.com for 3 more months using mycokerewards.com points. I also received 15 free downloads. I bought two songs by the Time- "Jungle Love" and "The Bird" and replaced some songs that didn't play right. (Thanks Mom, Dad, brother and sister-in-law for letting me have your points.)

I also was rocking out to Dio last night, he has a couple of live CDs available on napster.com. The man could rock and did. One of the best rock vocalists of all time. He still have a very strong voice even in his mid-60's. Ronnie James Dio is vastly under appreciated but he'll be missed by those of us who have been big fans of his.

"Law and Order", "Cold Case" and "FlashForward", Ronnie James Dio

Hello,

I come to mourn the end of some shows that I've enjoyed but will not be back next season. After 20 years of excellent detective stories and multiple spin off series "Law and Order" is coming to an end. Another show that I love is almost guaranteed going off the air, that show is "Cold Case". From what I've read though that show is almost assuredly gone.

Then a non surprise to me this will be "FlashForward's" first and last season. Why am I not surprised? Is it because of show quality? No. It's because I'm bad luck for a lot of shows. I get into a show in it's first season, hype it up and many times people not enough people watch the show. It then gets canceled. I'm intrigued to watch "Glee", but you are probably thinking don't start watching it.

There are some shows I don't get into until the second or third season. For instance "Mad Men", I love that show. It took me a few years to get into "E.R." and I was a big fan during the middle seasons. Then came the lame last few years. Also "American Idol" I didn't really get into until the 6th season. I use to live for that show, I then got busy and have realized I can live without it.

Unfortunately I thought "Battlestar Galactica" looked lame and never watched it. Once it ended I started getting into it. I still have only seen the first season though. It would be nice if it was made available on Comcast On Demand. (Hint, hint)

Books: I'm currently reading Mary Karr's "The Liar's Club", her first of 3 memoirs. I'm enjoying it, it's a lot better than the last book I read, "The Postmistress". It's still not one of the those books it's so engrossing that you just can't put down.

Speaking of mourning I just found out one of my all-time favorite singers has died. That's the amazing Ronnie James Dio. He's been battling cancer. The article on ew.com said he died "at the reported age of 67". It's hard to believe he could be that old and sing that well. Here are 10 of my favorite songs of his. (Yes I know he was with other bands, but honestly I think his solo work was the best work he did.) My two favorite of his songs are "The Last In Line" and "Egypt- The Chains Are On". Other great songs of his "Stand Up And Shout", "Holy Diver", "Shame on The Night", "Straight Through The Heart", "We Rock", "One Night In The City", "Shoot, Shoot" and "All The Fools Sailed Away".

LeBron James, Music Resurgance? Roger Waters Please Come To Salt Lake City.

Hello,

Can we please let the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James finish their playoffs before we start talking about where he's going this summer? Please!

Roger Waters you've been adding shows to your 30th Anniversary for "The Wall" tour, please add one more. Salt Lake City. There's a lot of Floyd fans here that would love to see it.

According to Rolling Stone, here are the Top Ten CDs of last decade and themusicaddict's grade:

10) "The College Dropout"- Kanye West D
9) "Kala"- M.I.A. I will have to give this another listen before I can make a proper grade.
8) "Modern Times"- Bob Dylan D- A bit of a reach don't you think Rolling Stone?
7) "The Marshall Mathers LP"- Eminem F One of the most overrated performers ever. Can you please just go back to 8 Mile?
6) "Funeral"- Arcade Fire A++++ This should probably be #1. This is just a great, great CD and deserves all the love and praise it gets.
5) "Elephant"- The White Stripes Not their best CD, that would be "White Blood Cells", but overall a solid CD. A truly great and original band.
4) "The Blueprint"- Jay Z D Yawn, his only hit is Beyonce. You have to give him props for getting her.
3) "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" F- Have you ever heard this CD, it blows more than Hurricane Katrina did. This was about as bad as I expected the "American Idiot" Broadway Soundtrack to be. Speaking of which where is Green Day's "American Idiot" in Rolling Stone's decade end poll? It's #22 behind CDs by Beck, OutKast and two CDs each by Bob Dylan and Jay Z.
2) "Is This It"- The Strokes I'm going to have to listen this CD as well. I did own this CD at one time, but I did take it back for credit.
1) "Kid A"- Radiohead Grade: D The most overrated band of last decade.

CD's that should be a lot higher:

41) "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not"- The Arctic Monkeys B+ This might contain the best song of the decade in "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor".
38) "Heartbreaker"- Ryan Adams One of this generation's most unknown singers.
I look at some of these CDs and think how overrated they are. Does Radiohead really deserve 3 spaces on the decade's Top 50 CDs. Not only "no" but "hell no". Elliot Smith? 50 Cent? PJ Harvey? Lil Wayne? No! No! No! and No!
20) "Back To Black"- Amy Winehouse It's probably a little high. It does have two of last decade's best songs though. Those are 1) "You Know I'm No Good" and 2) "Rehab" although the quality drops off a quite a bit off after that.
Also both #13 "All That You Can't Leave Behind" by U2 and #15 "The Rising" by Bruce Springsteen should both be in the Top 5. "The Rising" is just a sensational CD about the 9/11 attacks and the aftermath. An extremely haunting CD whose imagery will stay with you for years afterward.

Also where is Rihanna's "Good Girl Gone Bad", easily one of the best CDs last decade.

Yes there was some great music last decade, but this decade is off to a pretty good start and lets hope it stays on that hot start.

"American Idiot" Broadway Soundtrack Rules, Is This A Resurgance of Good Music?

Hello,

My wife and I are going through a divorce right now. For the record I want to say I love my wife very much and always will. We both also love our 4 kids as well. This isn't a rip on my wife blog, this is the journey of an extremely painful divorce blog. My wife is an amazing woman and always will think that. For those of you who are wondering: yes, I still love her very much and always will. I also write about music every once-in-a-while :)

My lawyer said the divorce should be final "in a few days". Enough of that now I'm just moving forward. My parents, my brother and his family and all the kids plus me are going to Olive Garden to celebrate my oldest son's birthday. He's going to be 14 on Saturday. I will also be able to spend time with all my kids this weekend, after not being able to see them last weekend.

themusicaddict again gives a thumbs up to the amazing "American Idiot" Broadway soundtrack. Again I thought it would suck, but it's actually quite good and I can't stop listening to it. 22 songs of rockin' the nation music. (Although I do wonder why amazon.com doesn't list how long the CD is.) I'm actually quite surprised by how much good music has already come out this year. Lifehouse's "Smoke and Mirrors", Bullet For My Valentine's "Fever", Slash's CD, the "Almost Alice" soundtrack and Orianthi's debut CD. I know I've missed more than a few great CDs. Hopefully 2010 will be the year good music comes back. Last decade was probably the worst decade for music possibly ever. Good thing for Lady Gaga coming near the end of the decade and finally bringing some good music to last decade. Paramore kicked butt last decade as well.

I can't wait until Crystal Bowersox's CD. I might go to the "American Idol" concert just to see her. Rolling Stone had an article about last night's show saying Bowersox was pulling away from the boys. I thought to myself she's been doing that since Hollywood.

Books read lately Sarah Blake's "The Postmistress" was okay, I was hugely disappointed by it. I also started reading Mary Karr's "The Liar's Club", it's a memoir of the first several years of her life. I've read the first 40 pages and love the book. How much do I love it, I already put her two other memoirs on hold at the library.

Oh yeah for those of you who lead even more boring lives than me the new "Kate + 8" starts June 6th.

Mother's Day, Do Not Mess With Denzel!

Hello,

I just want to wish a happy birthday to all mothers everywhere. The rest of us wouldn't be what we are with out you. Actually the rest of us wouldn't be without you.

Thanks to my Mom and Dad for allowing me to live with them until I can get back on my feet. My Mom is an amazing woman and has been my biggest advocate even through many of my screw ups in life. I'd like to thank the ex-wife for bringing us four wonderful kids into the world. I just hope I can see them more than I've been allowed to see them lately.

Yesterday was sort of a boring day for me. With it being Mother's Day weekend I didn't get to have my kids this weekend. Plus I didn't work yesterday. The highlight of my day was going to Sun Shine Cafe with my Mom and her friend to celebrate Mother's Day. After that I just relaxed the whole day.

About 7:00 I got bored and went and watched "Man on Fire" on Comcast On Demand. This movie stars Denzel Washington, Christopher Walken and Marc Anthony. Don't mess with the man. Washington is my favorite actor. He's just got a cool factor and so much charisma. (I did lose a little bit of respect for him when I found out he was a fan of "Napoleon Dynamite" though. That's one of the dumbest and worst movies of all time.) While this is not the best movie of all-time, it was pretty good and helped alleviate my boredom. I also thought Dakota Fanning was pretty good in this movie as well.

I'm also reading a book called "The Postmistress" by Sarah Blake. It's a good book but not amazing. I have a hard time completely getting into it. I have to take it back to the library soon, I don't know if I'm going to be able to finish it before then. Another book I've heard a lot of good things about is Kathryn Stockett's "The Help". My Mom recently read that book in about 5 days. That's the kind of book I'm looking for. "The Postmistress" is just not at that level.

The Jazz lost last night. I instead watched "Man on Fire". In the Jazz game there were two men on fire. Spoiled, whiny brat Ron Artest and Ashton Kutcher look-a-like Kyle Korver. The Lakers prevailed 111-110 and now the Jazz are now down 3-0. It's virtually impossible for them to win now. They can go into the off season and finally dump the oft injured, never satisfied Carlos Boozer. He's a great player but his downside is too much. He's also all about Carlos.

I'm also doing better with the divorce, but then I hear songs like this and the pain comes back fresh. Although thankfully the pain is getting less thankfully. I know the pain will never go away completely and I'll love the ex-wife. I wish her well.

Thanks again all Moms, themusicaddict

Where is the next Guns 'N' Roses?, the Gossip

Hello,

I was exercising this morning and rocking out to my iPod nano, it rules btw. One of the songs that came on was GNR's "Nightrain", their ode to an inexpensive form of alcohol. That song kicks butt. I'm wondering that since Guns 'N' Roses doesn't want to be an active band anymore, who is going to fill their place? (One CD in the last several years and very infrequent touring does not make a band an active band.)

I was hoping Buckcherry would be that band but they suck. The music sucks, their lyrics sucks and the language is terrible. They are using profanity just to use profanity to seem cool. If you have to do something to seem cool, you won't ever be cool. Coolness happens naturally. It's like pregnancy, either you are or you aren't.

For those of you thinking that (I'll remember that name's band eventually) might be the answer you are wrong. I had to research to remember their name. How about Them Crooked Vultures? I don't think they will be a band long enough to do that.

The closest band I can think of to fill the GNR void is Green Day. Both have great and charismatic singers. The musicianship in both are amazing. There's a lot of anger and butt kicking in their lyrics. One different thing about Green Day, they are built to last. Although there were a few years between their last two releases, they did go on a long tour. They also made that Foxboro Hottubs CD. There's also rumors about them possibly being in other bands together and using different names for those bands. The only one in more bands is Jack White.

I hate gossip, but I love The Gossip. They are a rockin' band with Beth Ditto as their amazing lead singer. I'm listening to their latest CD, "Music For Men" now. It's more mellow than some of their previous CDs. Although these songs are mellow, there are still some good songs. My favorite songs on this CD are probably "Love Long Distance" and "Love and Let Love".

Also just a quick personal note: I've had people make decisions concerning me lately based on incomplete information and false assumptions. Please before you make a decision that affects other people, please do what you can to find out out the truth and the complete story. Making decisions on what one person says is no way to make a decision. There are always at least two sides to any story and probably more.

The Jazz play tonight. We'll find out tonight if this is going to be a competitive series or complete domination by the much hated Lakers. Either way I'm not going to waste my time watching it, I'll follow it on espn.com. I may watch some of the Red Wings hockey match on Versus though. The Red Wings are fighting for their playoff lives. Go Jazz! Go Red Wings!

Have a great day,

The Kindness of Strangers, "Iron Man 2", "American Idiot" Broadway Soundtrack, Katy Perry

Hello,

Yesterday I was driving home from work and my car started making a grinding sound which meant a flat tire. I was invited to a surprise tire changing party! That happened about 7:30 and usually that kind of thing would freak me out. However it didn't bother me this time. I don't have a cell phone, I couldn't call anyone. (I think cell phones are of the devil and one of the most worthless pieces of technology ever.)

However I just calmly pulled to the side of the road and waited. I pulled out the book I'm reading now "The Postmistress" and read for awhile. About 8:15 a very nice person pulled over and helped me. He went the full distance, he showed me how to change the tire and let me do a lot of it. (Don't worry if I see you on the side of the road with a flat tire, I won't stop and "help" you. I'm still not very confident in my tire changing skills.) He also made sure the tire was full of air. When it wasn't he drove me to a gas station and filled up the tire. All and all a great guy and I would like to thank him personally. My Dad was surprised that someone had stopped and helped me. I'm not sure why, I do live in Utah and that type of thing happens here all the time.

I know why I didn't get uptight. Usually when I'm losing time on something unimportant or that doesn't interest me I get wound up. For instance, my divorce is really a waste of time. There are so many worthless things one has to do for it to be final. I have a lawyer, I wish he could just take care of everything. I don't ever want to think about it again. However I have a low stress job and was able to get a lot done while at work. Also this weekend is my second straight three day weekend. I went and got my car fixed, went to "Iron Man 2" and bought my Mom's Mother's Day gift. I was thinking how glad I am I have a job I can do, that's enjoyable and the pay is reasonably good.

Now on to "Iron Man 2". It was a pretty good movie, it's definitely worth your time. I only have a few quibbles with it. ew.com pointed out there's too much action and not enough of the zippy dialogue we liked so much about the first movie. It was a bit soulless in that regard. Also Sam Rockwell plays Justin Hammer, Tony Stark's wanna be rival, as one of the most annoying characters of all time. This character is up there with Jar Jar Binks. Yes, he's hit a near Binksian low. Hammer reminds me a lot of the Rick Moranis character from the first "Ghostbusters". Someone that's a schlub and nowhere as cool as he thinks he is. My last minor quibble: after having an exclusive AC/DC soundtrack their music is hardly played.

Minor quibbles aside, it was a pretty good movie. There's some amazing eye candy in this movie. Scarlett Johansen is getting better looking with time, I'm finally understanding her appeal. She's absolutely gorgeous with red hair. Also Gwyneth Paltrow plays Starks's long suffering secretary/CEO (you read that right) Pepper Potts. ew.com also points out that John Slattery shows up to play Tony Stark's father. We only see him in old films from the 60's. It's a nice "Mad Men" touch from one of that show's main characters.

Okay, a few more quick things. First, I listened to the "American Idiot" Broadway Soundtrack. I was expecting something that would completely blow, something that would reach that Binksian level of terribleness. However I find myself very surprised to suggest to you to go out and buy it. It's very good. Most of the songs originated with Green Day's "American Idiot". However there are a couple of added songs. One added song, "Favorite Son", I've never heard before. Another song is "Too Much Too Soon", it's a non-album track I got somewhere. There's also a ballad to add to the story called "When It's Time". Last but not least there are also at least two songs from their recent CD, "21st Century Heartbreak". They are "Know Your Enemy" and the amazing "21 Guns". Does it rock? Absolutely. It kicks some serious butt, pretty close to the Green Day original songs. They also say a bunch of the f bomb for those of you who are wondering. (Thanks to napster and mycokerewards.com for being able to listen to all these great CDs free.)

Second, Katy Perry has her new single available on her website, katyperry.com. It's called "California Gurls" and is an awesome song. Although for some reason she has Snoop Dogg rapping on it. He actually adds to the song, which really surprised me. But that's a trend that mostly needs to go away, the inviting of rappers to rap over what's a very good song. It usually hurts the song's likability.

Also is it just my imagination or does Katy Perry continue to get better looking? She's experiencing the same getting hotter as she gets older that Scarlett Johansson is going through. She's looking hot promoting her new single.

Finally another great episode of "FlashForward". I love that show and how the story has set everything up that's happening now. Some of it's coming true but some of it isn't. The Lloyd Simcoe character is great, so is the person who plays the high functioning savant. He keeps on talking about how Olivia and Lloyd need to get together. In his multiple FlashForwards Lloyd and Olivia are suppose to be together. I'm old fashioned and I believe in marriage, I hope they don't get together. I would not blame Lloyd because Olivia is a gorgeous looking woman. (This is the best picture I could find and does not do her justice.)

One more thing. This is one of the greatest songs of all-time. Enjoy! I love where it really kicks in about the 1:10 mark. I love the horns and keep an eye out for the square guitar.

Great random music

Hello,

There's no rhyme or reason to the following music. It's just music I'm really liking now. Thanks to Rolling Stone I heard about The Maine. They are a pretty cool band, they remind me a lot of Rooney. That's a compliment by the way. They are one of several bands that's on a CD called "Punk Goes Classic Rock". It's the type of CD you would expect it to be. Up and coming bands singing classic rock songs. The Maine sing Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me". I actually like Maine's version. It's different enough that it's almost original. I also like the Maine's CD "Can't Stop, Won't Stop".

Another CD I'm really liking right now is Billy Idol's "Devil's Playground". This is one of the best CDs of his career. My favorite song on it is "Romeo's Waiting".

(I love youtube.com.)

Another band I'm into now is the All-American Rejects, their recent CD "When The World Comes Down" rocks. I especially like the following song:

This is another great song:

We are in the "Real World" now.

More great bands and music should be coming tomorrow, I hope!

Go Jazz!

I love Paramore!, Countdown to "Iron Man 2"

Hello,

I knew I was really out of the current music scene but this is ridiculous. What do the following ten people have in common? Lil Wayne, Colette Carr (who I've never heard of. After watching the video I understand. A lame video and lame song sung by a wanna be white female rapper.), Nicki Minaj (who I've never heard of thankfully), Ok Go and Anaka (again who I've never heard of, but no it's not the breath spray). The other people on the list are Justin Bieber (who I only know about because of my 9 year old daughter), Iyaz (another one I had never heard of) Taylor Swift, Ke$ha and Dakota Fanning.

I actually like the Iyaz song "Solo":

"Iron Man 2" opens Friday. I can hardly wait.

How cool is it that it's an all AC/DC Soundtrack, including most of their biggest hits. The last movie I know of that had all AC/DC songs was the Stephen King directed "Maximum Overdrive" one of the worst movies of all time. The songs from the "Maximum Overdrive" Cd, which is better known as "Who Made Who":

1. Who Made Who
2. You Shook Me All Night Long
3. D.T.
4. Sink the Pink
5. Ride On
6. Hells Bells
7. Shake Your Foundations
8. Chase the Ace
9. For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)

The AC/DC songs from "Iron Man 2":

1. Shoot to Thrill
2. Rock 'N' Roll Damnation
3. Guns for Hire
4. Cold Hearted Man
5. Back in Black
6. Thunderstruck
7. If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
8. Evil Walks
9. T.N.T.
10. Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be
11. Have a Drink on Me
12. The Razor's Edge
13. Let There Be Rock
14. War Machine
15. Highway to Hell

But the most exciting news of this past week is :

"The Dark Knight sequel finally has a release date. Almost two years after the killer clown crime epic dominated the box office and spawned a million Halloween costumes, Warner Bros. has announced that the still-untitled Batman 3 will be released on July 20, 2012, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

There’s not a whole lot of information about the movie, which is still in the very early planning stages. Director Christopher Nolan and writer David Goyer have always been focused on presenting a more realistic take on the Batman mythos, so we’re probably not going to see Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, or Clayface. Even though he’s a bit more outlandish, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Riddler, if only because his presence could pump up Batman’s mystery-solving detective side." (Thanks to ew.com and Darren Franich.) I hope it's out before the world ends as is predicted in "2012".)

The answer to my above question is coming later, but here's a hint:

Also the Jazz start the second round of the NBA playoffs, they play the Lakers. I think the Jazz will lose in 5 games, but I still will be cheering them on! Go Jazz!

Here's the answer to the question I asked earlier. They are the Top Ten videos on MTV today. Don't ask me why I have no idea.

1) Lil Wayne's video for "I'm Single". Does he really have to tell us that? The last I heard he was in jail. I think it's for assault, assault on good taste!

2) Colette Carr's video for "Back It Up. That should have been a self fulfilling prophecy title. Before they released it, someone should have got a big truck and backed up over it. A really bad song and a "singer" I've never heard of. After watching the video I understand why. A lame video and lame song sung by a wanna be white female rapper.

3) Nicki Minaj's video for "Massive Attack". Have you heard this ridiculous song or seen the ridiculous video? A partial viewing was enough for me. She should soon be joining Lil Wayne in jail for assault on taste.

4) Ok Go's video for "This Too Shall Pass" (Version 2). I think the song is about the song itself. Another video I couldn't watch all of.

5) Anaka's video for "Erase". Yes please erase my memory from this Staind rip off. If you want to pay homage to them, call yourself Pained. That's what I was after watching this video. Again someone who I've never heard of, but no he's not the breath spray.

6) Justin Bieber's video for "Baby". Is this video about him? My 9 year old daughter loves him so I've had to hear his music a few times. I can only tolerate it for a few minutes. I think my daughter will be too mature for this music by her next birthday.

7) Iyaz's video for "Solo". Although this is another musician I've never heard of, I really like this song.

8) Taylor Swift's and (T Pain) video for "Thug Story". This is obviously played for comic effect and it's pretty funny. Taylor Swift is the one that's going to last the longest out of all these people, she actually has talent.

9) Ke$ha's video for "Blah, Blah, Blah". An absolutely horrendous song with pretty nasty lyrics. Cartoony sex lyrics and it sucks. She also sang this song on "American Idol" and it was painfully bad there.

10) Dakota Fanning's video for "Cherry Bomb". This is from the movie about the Runaways. That's the early all girl band that featured Lita Ford and Joan Jett, who both went on to bigger things. This song has some life, an old school rock vibe.
