Forty one years ago, December 8th, 1980, John Lennon died at the hands of an assassin. He was only 40 years old. As my Mom astutely pointed out he has been dead longer than he was alive. I'm not the biggest Beatles or John Lennon as a solo artist fan. But still John Lennon, by himself and with others, created some very amazing songs. In all actuality I like John Lennon's post Beatles discography better than his work with the Beatles.
The day after Lennon's death:
1) The Beatles "A Day In The Life":
2) John Lennon "Woman":
3) The Beatles "Nowhere Man":
4) The Beatles "I Am The Walrus":
5) The Beatles "Happiness Is A Warm Gun":
6) The Beatles "Don't Let Me Down":
7) John Lennon "Working Class Hero":
8) The Beatles "Come Together":
9) The Beatles "Norwegian Wood (The Bird Has Flown)":
10) Lennon/Ono with the Plastic Ono Band "Instant Karma (We All Shine On)":
11) The Plastic Ono Band "Give Peace A Chance":
12) John Lennon "Jealous Guy":
13) "Whatever Gets You Through The Night":
14) "# 9 Dream":
15) "Imagine":
16) John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band. "Mind Games":
17) "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)":
18) John Lennon" Just Like (Starting Over)":
19) John Lennon "Watching The Wheels":
20) John Lennon "Nobody Told Me":
21) John Lennon "In My Life":
These are the three best tribute songs to John Lennon:
22) John Lennon "Empty Garden":
23) The Cranberries "I Just Shot John Lennon":
24) George Harrison's "All Those Years Ago":
