Dodgers Daily: September 8th, 2013: Dodgers Swept In Cincinnati

Hello,

Tonight on Sunday Night Baseball the Reds finished a 3 game sweep of the Dodgers. LA has now lost 4 straight games, but I'm still not real worried.

Actually I'm more worried about the lack of runs LA is putting up lately, they've only scored 12 runs in their last 4 games. Their lack of runs the entire season has been of constant worry for me. Amazingly the Dodgers pitching has been so solid that LA has been able to get by. LA was swept by Cincinnati in spite of LAs many excellent pitchers.

Also once again the Dodgers fail to score a lot of runs when Clayton Kershaw is pitching. LA only had 6 hits and 2 runs in supporting another masterful Kershaw outing. In 7 innings Kershaw pitched, he allowed 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks and had 7 strikeouts. His ERA slightly increased to 1.92, although he would have to completely blow a gasket to not win the ERA title for the third straight season.

LA has lost 4 straight games. However they still have a very solid 83-59 record and a 99.9% chance to reach the playoffs. Arizona fails to take complete advantage of LA's 4 game losing streak and remains 11 games behind LA in the NL West. As for the NL West, it's all over except for the fat lady singing.

LA looks to decrease Arizona's microscopic chances to reach the playoffs when the two teams start a 3 game series in LA on Monday. If Arizona sweeps LA, then I'll start to slightly worry. Monday's scheduled pitching matchup is Ricky Nolasco (12-9, 3.26 ERA) vs. Randall Delgado (4-5, 3.69 ERA).

Following that the Dodgers will play the Giants 4 games in a row to close out this Dodgers 7 game home stand. Following this home stand the Dodgers go on the road to play their next 10 games, they finish the season with their final 3 games at Dodgers Stadium.

Once again let me say the MLB season is way too long.
