Baseball Update For MLB Playoff Games on October 8th, 2013

Hello,

After dispatching of the Braves 3 games to 1, the Dodgers currently are resting. They still don't know if they'll play Pittsburgh or St. Louis on Friday, that's something they'll find out today.

As for the two playoff games played on Tuesday, both were ALDS games. In the earlier game the Tigers beat the A's 8-6 and tied that series at 2 games each. Detroit only had 9 hits to get their 8 runs, in addition they walked 3 times. Meanwhile the A's weren't as efficient in their hits to runs quotient, it took 12 hits to get their 6 runs. Coco Crisp had a fantastic game, he was 4 for 5. Crisp is hitting .500 in this ALDS. Their Game 5 is going Thursday.

Meanwhile the Red Sox won on Tuesday, they defeated the Rays 3-1. The Red Sox won their series also by the count of 3-1. Shane Victorino continued his great playoffs, he's hitting .429 in 4 games. He was only 1 for 3 on Tuesday, but that one hit was big. His 7th inning single drove in Jacoby Ellsbury and gave Boston a 2-1 lead. That was a lead that the Red Sox wouldn't relinquish.

One night after Koji Uehara gave up a walk off homer to Jose Lobatan, Uehara was back pitching on Tuesday night. He got the final four outs to close out the Rays and earned his second save of this postseason.

Boston scored 19 runs in the first two ALDS games, but only 7 runs in the last two games. If they play the Tigers in the ALCS, Boston will probably need every run they can get. Boston vs. Detroit could be  a very high scoring series. Detroit has scored 14 runs in 4 games so far, 8 of those runs came in Game 4. The A's actually have scored more runs than Detroit, they've scored 15 times. All 3 teams have excellent pitching staffs, but the pitchers won't win all the battles.

Boston advanced to the first ALCS in 5 years, they'll open at home against the winner of Tigers-A's series on Saturday.

There were 4 games on Monday, 2 games on Tuesday but there's only 1 game on Wednesday. The Dodgers will find out who they'll play in the NLCS. Wednesday evening is Game 5 of the Pirates-Cardinals NLDS series. The scheduled pitching matchup is Gerrit Cole (1-0, 1.50) vs. Adam Wainwright (1-0, 1.29 ERA). Go Pirates!
