Dodgers Daily, October 15th, 2013: Dodgers On Brink Of Elimination, Red Sox Take 2-1 Lead

Hello,

The Dodgers are down to what could be their final playoff game after losing to the Cardinals 4-2 on Tuesday. St. Louis leads the series 3-1 with Game 5 Wednesday afternoon. Things seem to be about as bleak as they can be for LA right now. Here's hoping the famous saying continues and that true that it's always darkest before dawn.

The theme of Game 4 has been the theme of the whole series, a combination of great pitching and poor hitting. Both teams have only scored 8 runs each, yesterdays 4-2 score was the highest scoring game in the whole series.

In Game 4 the Dodgers only had 8 hits and it feels lucky they got even 2 runs.

St. Louis now leads 3-1, obviously they used their 8 runs more judiciously. Game 5 of the NLCS is in LA Wednesday afternoon. Game 5's pitching matchup will be Zack Greinke vs. Joe Kelly, the two who started Game 1 on Friday.

It's hard to believe this could be my second to last Dodgers Daily blog, if LA loses on Wednesday I'll be going back to writing about music and other sports related things. I hadn't realized how demanding time wise the Dodgers Daily was going to be.

Also on Tuesday the Red Sox went into Detroit and beat the Tigers 1-0. Mike Napoli had the big hit in the game with a solo homer. The Red Sox pitching staff combined for the shut out. Boston leads this series 2-1 and has stolen back home field advantage. The scheduled pitching matchup Wednesday is Jake Peavy vs. Doug Fister.

Come on Dodgers and Sox!
