Warning: The Bad Boys of (The) Rock and Roll Are Invading Salt Lake City July 29th, 2015

Hello,

Motley Crue is invading Salt Lake City. Hide your daughters, hide yourself and tell Mom it's time to come out and play again. The Crue are on their final farewell tour, no really. They signed a legal contract about it and everything. You know, no one has ever broken a contract. And if anyone were to do it surely it wouldn't be Motley Crue. (That's sarcasm, in case you didn't recognize it.)

Anyway here are the relative details, the deets as the non-cool kids would say. Opening up the concert will be the ageless Alice Cooper. How he and Mick Mars are still upright I have no idea, but you can't be too old to rock and roll. The price of tickets? I have no idea, but let's round down to an arm and a leg. I'm seeing ticket prices from $118 to $1100 on-line. From my quick research they are playing about 20 songs a night and close to two hours.

Mick Mars wasn't real happy about Vince singing over recorded vocals. But what do you expect Vince will be 54 on February 8th, Happy Birthday Vince. The other members of the band are Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee.

One more Motley Crue related note: if you haven't read "The Dirt" yet, then you need to read it. The boys got a real author, Neil Strauss, to write about their life of rock and roll and debauchery! It's an incredible book, the section about the death of Neil's kid is particularly moving. Not as good, but still interesting is Nikki Sixx's "Heroin Diaries". It's about his long battle with heroin until he finally conquered it after a very intense battle. I'm not sure why anyone even begins to use that stuff.

One of the reasons that I love Youtube so much is all the great stuff they have available. I found out that the Crue was coming to Salt Lake, so of course what did I want to do? Watch them perform live, so I go to Youtube and within seconds I find two Crue concerts 30 years apart. How COOL! is that? This is a concert filmed on May 29th, 1983:

Take Me to the Top
Looks That Kill
Bastard
Shout at the Devil
Merry-Go-Round
Knock 'em Dead, Kid
Piece of Your Action
Live Wire
Helter Skelter

For unintentional comedy, can anything top the start of this video? What is that blue outfit that chick is wearing? I know it was the 80s, but still.....? And just a guess here, she'd never been to a rock concert before. Why does she keep on referring to it as "the rock and roll". And what she does exactly mean by "rock and roll you?" I know that the people that usually introduce rock bands aren't the hippest people ever, but she seemed to be especially tone deaf. Obviously someone's daughter or girlfriend.

Here's the Carnival of Sins Tour (some of this video may be offensive to some people. However no one ever said Motley Crue had a lot of taste. They weren't shooting for much more than the lowest common denominator.) However thanks mostly to Nikki Sixx they have a lot of great songs, and they always could kick butt from the stage.

The setlist, this concert seems to be from 2008:

1) "Shout At The Devil"
