(Updated and Finished November 4th, 2021) Part 1 of The Best Rock Music of the Late 70's: 1976-1980, Songs 1-17

Hello,

I was watching the first episode newly reprised "Freaks and Geeks" on Hulu the other day. The show is based in 1980 and has many of the great songs of that time played in the show. The song that really stood out was Styx's "Come Sail Away". It's a song I didn't like much for the longest time but have grown to like over the last few years. But last night it really hit me how great of a song it is. For 1979 we know that was a terrible year for rock music as that year was the peak of disco. But there were still dozens of great rock classics in this five year window.

1) Boston "More Than A Feeling":

2) ELO "Telephone Line":

3) Toto "Hold The Line":

4) Pink Floyd "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2":

5) John Lennon "Just Like (Starting Over)":

6) Thin Lizzy "The Boys Are Back In Town":

7) Styx "Come Sail Away":

8) The Rolling Stones "Miss You":

9) The Knack "My Sharona":

10) The Rolling Stones "Emotional Rescue":

11) The Steve Miller Band "Fly Like An Eagle":

12) Foreigner "Feels Like The First Time":

13) ELO "Turn To Stone":

14) Gary Numan "Cars":

15) The Rolling Stones "She's So Cold":

16) Billy Joel "It's Still Rock and Roll To Me":

17) Manfred Mann "Blinded By The Light":
