(Finished January 8th, 2022) The Best Songs of 1983-1986, Part 1: Songs 1-20

Hello,

This blog is inspired by Season 3 of "Cobra Kai", which takes me back to that extremely fertile time in music from 1983-1986. These are the best of the best for that four years. So many of these songs are from 80s movies, what a great time to be growing up.

One of the best songs from "The Karate Kid" universe. 1) Bananarama "Cruel Summer":

2) The Psychedelic Furs "Pretty In Pink":

3) Kenny Loggins "Footloose":

Almost 1.4 billion YouTube views, which is a lot for an 80s video. That doesn't even count all the time I watched it on MTV back in the day. It's a too rare combination of an amazing song and an equally amazing video. 4) a-ha "Take On Me":

5) Bon Jovi "Livin' On A Prayer":

6) Eddie Money featuring Ronnie Spector "Take Me Home Tonight":

7) The Miami Sound Machine "Conga":

8) Dead or Alive "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)":

9) Big Country "In A Big Country":

10) Billy Idol "Rebel Yell":

11) Prince "Let's Go Crazy":

One of the 80's best ballads. 12) REO Speedwagon "Can't Fight This Feeling":

13) Prince "Kiss":

For some reason has been on my mind all day, one of the most addictive songs ever. It's nearly perfect in that way other than that terrible video. 14) RUN-D.M.C. "It's Tricky":

15) Madonna "Into The Groove":

16) Billy Joel "Allentown":

If this song doesn't put a pep in your step you just might be clinically dead. 17) Deniece Williams "Let's Hear It For The Boy":

I know most people wouldn't associate this song with 80's music, but it was released in 1983. 18) Bob Marley and the Wailers "Buffalo Soldier":

19) Tina Turner "Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)":

Yet another amazing 80s ballad. 20) Phil Collins "Against All Odds":
