(Finished September 11th, 2022) Part 1 of 80s One Hit Wonders Other Songs aka A Lot of Dreck and A Few Gems

Hello ,

If 80s one hit wonder bands would have had more exposure or more support from their record companies would they have become big bands. The answers for most of these bands is a hard no. Most of these bands had one moment of genius but never were able to replicate it again. I'm interested in hearing some of these bands other songs. Not all of one hit wonders other songs are dreck of course, but so much of the other songs is not good. This is one hit wonders according to the American charts.

This little pop nugget is their moment of genius, #1 in both America and England. 1) Dexy's Midnight Runners "Come On Eileen":

Peaking at #7 in England. 2) "There, There My Dear":

Peaking at #1 in England. I think this is a pretty cool song as well. 3) "Geno":

Peaking at # 40 in England in 1979. 4) "Dance Stance":

I like this song as well, it feels like it should have been a hit in America. This song peaked at # 58 in England. 5) "Plan B":

This song peaked at #16 in England. 6) "Show Me":

The only other Dexy's song I remember seeing back in the day on MTV and that was only a couple of times. This song peaked at #86 in the USA and #20 in England. 7) "Celtic Soul Brothers":

All rankings are where the song peaked in America. 2) Tommy Tutone

Their moment of genius, peaking at #4. 8) "Jenny (867-5309):

#38 9) "Angel Say No":

I like this song as well, although it is a bit quirky. Unranked 10) "Which Man Are You":

Unranked 11) "Get Around Girl":

From 2017 and Unranked 12) "My Little Red Book":

A cover of the Outsiders classic. From 2018 and also unranked. 13) "Time Won't Let Me":

3) Soft Cell seems like they were a very popular band in England in the early 80s. If it wasn't for "Tainted Love" would they even have made a ripple in America?

Their moment of genius, peaking at #8 in America and # 1 in England. 14) "Tainted Love":

All rankings listed below is the number the song peaked at in England.

This song peaked at #4 in England.  15) "Bedsitter":

#3 16) "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye":

#2 17) "Torch":

#3 18) "What":

#21 19) "Where The Heart Is":

These next two songs are from 2022, this first song features The Pet Shop Boys- a band that no one considers a one hit wonder. Both of these songs failed to reach the charts. 20) "Purple Zone":

I'm including this song just because I want to hear it with that title. 21) "Nostalgia Machine":
