College Football Week 3

Hello,

There's a whole bunch of intriguing games today. First #7 BYU welcomes Florida St. and Bobby Bowden to Provo. Bowden has the second highest wins as a college football coach, trailing only Penn State's Joe Paterno. My alma mater #18 Utah goes to Oregon to play Oregon. Utah has the longest win streak in the nation, they have won 16 in a row. They will be tested today though. USC travels to Washington to play the Huskies, a team desperately trying to recapture their glory days. Washington is led by stud quarterback Jake Locker. He's an amazing player, USC is going to need to contain him. I think USC will win this game in a rout, but Washington could keep it close for awhile.

Last but certainly not least, although it might be least when the game is over, is the Florida-Tennessee game. Brand new cocky Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin got into Knoxville and started making wild accusations. He accused Florida of illegal recruiting without any basis for the charge. Their conference, the SEC, actually reprimanded him for his comments. He also said he was going to sing "Rocky Top" all night long after Tennessee beat Florida. Let me set the stage for you. This game will be played in Florida's home stadium, affectionately called The Swamp. Florida is 2-0 and have beaten their first two opponents by the score of 118-9 and it could have been worse. Also Florida will be extremely motivated today, I don't think they were motivated against the first two schools they played. Florida has also won two of the last 3 National Championships. Their starting quarterback Tim Tebow has won two Heisman awards and could win again this year. I think this game will be over by halftime. (Please Coach Mendenhall if BYU gets the chance to play Florida, say all the right things please.)

The Tennessee-Florida, Utah-Oregon, and USC-Washington games all kick off at the same time, 1:30 MST. Make sure your remote has fully charged batteries:)

Great songs worthy of your hard earned money: 1) "I Didn't Know My Own Strength"- Whitney Houston 2) "The Fixer"- Pearl Jam 3) "Evacuate the Dancefloor"- Cascada. Paramore's new song "Ignorance" is also available. It's okay although it's a little derivative of their second CD. They need to expand a bit from that sound.

With only 9 days until Pearl Jam is playing in my hometown, I've been working through their bootlegs that I own. I want to highlight one of them. The show they played in Nurnberg, Germany on June 11th, 2000 was outstanding. I'm not sure why but the drums are really distinctive that night and that added another butt kicking element to that concert. It didn't hurt that they started off the concert with "MFC", "Habit", "Cordurory", "Breakerfall", "God's Dice", "Animal" and then closed out that amazing stretch of songs with "Nothing As It Seems". After playing "Dissident", they then played four classics in a row. Those 4 classic songs were "Even Flow", "Given To Fly", "Wishlist" and "Alive". Wow! Later in the show Eddie Vedder laughs at himself when he makes a mistake on the lyrics of "Rearview Mirror".

Enjoy Talk Like A Pirate Day! themusicaddict
