L.A. Dodgers Win NL West, The Horrors of war

Hello,

The Dodgers finally got the proverbial monkey off their back last night. They beat Colorado 5-0. LA starts their playoff run against St. Louis and their stud hitter Albert Pujols on Wednesday. To say I'm scared to death of Albert Pujols would be the understatement of the year. The other thing that scares me is that Manny Ramirez seems to be disinterested and his batting average continues to plummet. I hope he can turn it on in the playoffs or all that money L.A. paid him would be a waste.

I continue to read Jon Krakauer's "Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman". What a fantastic book but a sad story about the Bush administration and how they manipulated the truth of among many other things Jessica Lynch.

I take the following paragraph directly from Krakauer's book. The following two paragraphs perfectly capture the brutality of war and why we should only put our young people into the line of fire for only the most important reasons:

"... but this explosion was notably larger. It killed Jordan instantly. Slumped near Jordan with the front portion of his head blown off, gurgling and twitching in the throes of death, was Lance Corporal Brain Buesing. Second Lieutenat Fred Pokorney lay dead in the middle of the road several feet away. Three other Marines were gravely injured by the blast.

A moment later, a second tremendous explosion occurred, killing Corporal Kemaphoom Chanawongse, a Thai immigrant as he was bringing ammunition to resupply Jordan's mortar squad and wounding another Marine."

I hope President Obama considers these things very carefully before he puts any more of our gallant men and women in harm's way. A thank you to all of you have put your life on the line for our great country.
