This is just a quick blog, what a great sports weekend! LA beat St. Louis 5-1 on Saturday as the Dodgers swept that series and will now face the winner of Philadelphia vs. Colorado in the NLCS. In the ALDS, both series were sweeps. New York beat Minnesota which was not a surprise. What was a surprise Boston was swept, including losing their final game at home. They even had their stud relief pitcher on the mound, Johnathan Papelbon. Papelbon had never before last night given up a post season run. He gave up 3 runs last night.
New York will play the LA Angels in the ALCS with the Yankees having home field advantage. The Dodgers will play the winner of Colorado vs. Philadelphia. Philly leads that series 2-1 after winning last night in a very frigid game. The game on Saturday was snowed out and they playied a night game the next day?
It was such a good sports week for me that even Dallas won, although they beat a very pathetic Cheifs team. When your a Cowboys fan, you take any win you can get. Meanwhile my other team Tampa Bay isn't so fortunate as they fall to 0-5 on the season. They'll be lucky to win two or three games this season.
#18 BYU not only won again but they crushed what seems to be a very pathetic UNLV team. BYU beat UNLV 59-21 to move to 5-1 on the season. Utah also won. They were down 17-3 and bounced back to beat a tough CSU Rams team 24-17. It's also good to see the Utes back in the Top 25, they are ranked at #24.
Lastly but definitely not least, the US Soccer team have clinched going to their 6th straight World Cup. It's being held next year in South Africa. I'm hoping they make some noise this time. It's about time for the USA to become a power in the World Cup. They still might not win yet but I want them to at least get further than ever before.
