Dodgers Daily, June 24th, 2013: Puig, Dodgers One Man Offense, Does It Again.

Hello,

For the first time since April 7th, the Dodgers have won 3 games in a row. With the Dodgers being so mediocre this season, this is a major breakthrough. LA was able to beat the Giants 3-1 in the first game of their 3 game series.

Who was the star for LA. Well who else? Yasiel Puig, the one man Dodgers offense, was the star yet again. Puig was 3 for 4 and had half of the Dodgers hits. He hit his 7th home run of the season in the first inning and had a tie breaking RBI in the 8th inning. Puig provided 2/3rds of the Dodgers RBIs. Puig is hitting .442 this season.

Meanwhile Adrian Gonzalez was 0 for 4 and is hitting .297. Andre Ethier had another zero hit game, 0 for 3 and is hitting .252. Mark Ellis was 1 for 3 and is hitting .266 this season. Meanwhile in a rehab assignment, Matt Kemp was 1 for 3 and is hitting .182 for the Isotopes.

Although the Dodgers have won 3 games in a row, they still only won 5 of their last 10 games. Their three consecutive wins gets them to 33-42 this season. They're still in distant last place in the NL West and trail the first place Diamondbacks by 8 games. LA has improved to having a 3.4% chance of making the playoffs now. Whoo-hoo!

The Dodgers have won these three games by scores of 6-1, 3-1 and 3-1. In other words this streak isn't built to last. In the Blue Jays recent 11 game winning streak, they scored a total of 70 runs, which is an average of 6.4 runs. The Blue Jays scored 3 runs or less twice in their 11 game winning streak.

LA has scored 12 runs in their 3 straight wins, an average of 4 runs a game. The Dodgers have already scored 3 runs or less in their 3 wins. Dodgers pitching has been great at preventing runs, but LA's offense needs to be a lot better at scoring runs. That is if they want to be a major player this season.
