Cougars-Utes: Utes Win Yet Again

Hello,

I write this as a very disappointed Cougars fan. Utah has won 8 of their last 11 matchups with BYU, including their 24-21 victory last night. And honestly Utah should have won by more, they were clearly the superior team all night long. The fact that BYU had two chances to tie it at the end of the game was very fortunate for BYU. Of course BYU's very average kicker Justin Sorensen had the first field goal blocked and the second one he missed.

But of course losing 24-21 on your arch rival's field is a hell of a lot better than losing 54-10 at your place. At least the Cougars didn't quit in this game, I loved that they kept on fighting. Ultimately though they just don't have enough weapons. BYU's starting quarterback, Riley Nelson, is a slightly above average. He's better than the person who played quarterback for BYU in their game against Utah last year, Jake Heaps. But honestly neither one of those quarterbacks live up to all the great quarterbacks that played at BYU. When you're use to having a Heisman winning quarterback and two quarterbacks who have went to the NFL and won Super Bowls, Riley Nelson just doesn't cut it.

I'm hoping either Taysom Hill or Tanner Mangum grabs BYU's quarterback reins next season and returns BYU back to their normal quarterback prominence. At least back to the John Beck/ Max Hall days.

Looking at BYU's schedule for the rest of this season, BYU will probably finish about 8-4 or 9-3. They go on the road to play Boise State Thursday. Later in the season they have games with Notre Dame and Georgia Tech. I expect the Irish to put a whooping on the Cougars. Notre Dame looked fantastic last night as they completely dominated Michigan State in East Lansing.

USC had yet another loss to Stanford. That wasn't very surprising as they barely got by a below average Syracuse team. That pretty much knocks USC out of the national championship race. Now it looks like it will be yet another SEC team or Notre Dame that wins the national title.

Too bad Louisiana- Monroe couldn't hold on to beat Auburn. I love that Auburn is 1-2 on the season. All the bad karma is coming back in light of all the shenanigans that went on with Scam Newton. I can't wait until that ill gotten title is stripped from Auburn. I assure it will happen eventually.

And is the Pac 12 about to revoke Colorado's membership. They haven't been very good the last several years, but they are absolutely brutal this season. They are 0-3 and were destroyed by Fresno St. last night 69-14. Colorado plays Washington State this weekend. The Cougars haven't looked great this season either, but they have more than enough to send the Buffaloes to 0-4. Looking at Colorado's schedule, it's doubtful they win any games this season.
