(Finished October 1st, 2019) Review of Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band in SLC September 28th, 2019

Hello,

First before I get to the review of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band I'd like to briefly mention the opening act. They are Nashville band The Wild Feathers, a much cooler band than their name. I love how they have three different singers. Different but all their voices work together well. I really, really liked them. Here are two of their best songs and a cover they played so well live.

1) "Quittin' Time":

2) "Backwoods Company":

3) A cover of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down":

Bob Seger and his big and highly talented band kicked butt this past Saturday night. Although he's 74 years old Seger is still in fine voice. He and his band still plays these songs with a lot of passion. All these songs take on new life live. If you have a chance to go see him, please take full advantage of it. These songs are timeless. I do wish they would have played "Fire Lake" and "Katmandu". Although I didn't really expect them to play "Katmandu" as I don't think they've played that for years.

1) "Simplicity":
2) "Still The Same":
This isn't my favorite Bob Seger song, not even close. But this song takes on a new life when played live, sadly this video doesn't exactly capture that.  3) "The Fire Down Below":

Inspired when he was a 16 year old and wasn't allowed in clubs, he had to settle for looking through windows. That sax solo!!! 4) "Main Street":

5) "Old Time Rock & Roll":
The Rodney Crowell cover. 6) "Shame On The Moon":
He wore a Harley Davidson shirt on the night we saw him, this is a song about his love of motorcycles. 7) "Roll Me Away":

The Willie Mitchell cover. 8) "Come To Poppa":
Seger was surprised when this wasn't a big hit. But at the end of the year he received a plaque from Billboard that said this song was the most played song of 1980. 9) "Her Strut":

Inspired by running track in high school. This is a video from Salt Lake City, although it's from his 2015 concert. 10) "Like A Rock":

11) "You'll Accomp'ny Me":
This was his Mom's favorite of his songs. 12) "We've Got Tonight":

If you would have asked me my opinion about "Travelin' Man" a few days ago I wouldn't have known exactly what you were talking about. But again this is another song that really comes alive when played live. It's nice that they meld it so easily and well into "Beautiful Loser".
13) "Travelin' Man"/14) "Beautiful Loser":

An all-time classic. 15) "Turn The Page":

Calling Bob Dylan a great songwriter, this was dedicated to many rock stars that have been lost lately.  Eddie Money was one of the musicians remembered here in Salt Lake. 16) "Forever Young":

17) "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man":

Encore

Live from 1980. 18) "Against The Wind":

19) "Hollywood Nights":

Encore 2:

20) "Night Moves":
21) "Rock and Roll Never Forgets":

Hello,

This series of blogs is inspired by Carrie Underwood covering the songs of Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, The Judds, Shania Twain and others. Ironically I'm started in 1970, where the majority of the top songs were sung by men. Even many of the songs sung by women were in a duet- yes with another man. There weren't any duets or trios like Maddie and Tae or Runaway June breaking big then. I tried my best, but some songs were listed in multiple years on various lists I was researching. I apologize for any mistakes, all blame goes to me.

This is just an absolutely amazing song. 1) Lacy J. Dalton "16th Avenue":

2) Janie Fricke "It Ain't Easy Being Easy":

3) Juice Newton "Love's Been A Little Hard On Me":

4) Juice Newton "I'm Gonna Be Strong":

5) Juice Newton "Break It To Me Gently":

6) Reba McEntire "Can't Even Get The Blues":

7) Sylvia "Nobody":

8) Sylvia "Like Nothing Ever Happened":

9) TW "Another Chance":

10) Anne Murray "Another Sleepless Night":

13) "Honky Tonk Night On Broadway":

I thought I should do at least one of these blogs for the men. It's crazy to me how many more songs were written for men that women in the 70's and 80s. Their amazing run started in 1985. Other people that had great years in 1985 include George Strait, John Conlee, Eddie Rabbit, Mel McDaniel, Eddie Rabbit, women's butts and Reba McEntire.

1) Alabama "Forty Hour Week (For A Livin'")":

(Started September 15th, 2019) A Tribute to Ric Ocasek, 1944-2019, His Best Songs

Hello,

Richard Theodore Otcasek (March 23, 1944 – September 15, 2019), known as Ric Ocasek  (/oʊˈkæsÉ›k/), was an American singer, songwritermusician and record producer. He was best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for the rock band the Cars. In 2018, He was a successful producer, but I'll save that for a different blog. Ocasek was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Cars. He also was known for his marriage to supermodel, and woman way out of his league, Paulina Porzikova. Althought they've been separated for a couple of years now.The Cars had two lead singers, the other being Benjamin Orr, who sadly died October 4th, 2000.

I'll be breaking this down into three parts, first is the best songs of Ric Ocasek's mostly forgettable career.

Solo:

1) "Rockaway":

2) "Mister Meaner":

3) "Don't Lose Me":

4) "Silver":

6) "Come Back":
